Dacidbro Posted August 11, 2010 Posted August 11, 2010 ... Ara has a reversal. 50 meter, but it's definitely a reversal super. Not to mention one of the most vicious counter assaults in the game.
ZONG_one Posted August 11, 2010 Posted August 11, 2010 Yes, I know he has one. I don't consider it an option, if it costs meter. And vicious CA, that you CAN TECH btw, with 100% meter. Based on that, you could say Carl does, too, with Rhapsody of Memories, but yeah. 50 meter+Guaranteed trade. >.>
Dacidbro Posted August 11, 2010 Posted August 11, 2010 Bang doesn't have any true reversal options without meter, but he is surely S tier. o: Arakune's CA should never hit someone non-counter hit; it should either get jumped and whiff and Arakune gets raped or be counter and untechable. So saying it's techable.. doesn't mean much
ZONG_one Posted August 11, 2010 Posted August 11, 2010 IB > Guard point is good enough for him. It's a meterless option. It's techable 90% of the time. lol. I rarely see it throw reject anyone.
St1ckBuG Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 S tier in this game are characters that put you in really terrible situations while rushing you down I'd even put Hakumen over Ragna tbh. EDIT: LK posting

EDIT: LK posting I've fought some RTSD Ragna's.... you don't want to be on the receiving end of that shit. I can atleast deal with 4C.... but 5C and 5B wreck my shit. and Haku doesn't have insane pressure.... I'll take mugen over blood kain any day.

smooshman Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 ragna isnt that bad once you learn how to block overheads tbh. id rate him evenly with haku btw. isn't everything better when you can block overheads? but point taken. Haku and Ragna have opposite strengths Haku is a bitch get get close to. and Ragna is a bitch to get away from. but they both just outdamage most of the midtier characters.
Henaki Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 yes except if you are good you should be able to block a majority of ragnas mixups. he has very slow overheads. a perfect Tk GH is 16 frame startup but also hits later most of the time because of how you have to distance it to hit on people. (it has 12f startup but you have to factor prejump into that as well).
FlyingVe Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 ^^ To add to that, Up close TKGH will wiff on alot of the cast. Ragna pressure has always been more about intimidation than anything else. Once you get used to it, it isn't as scary... unless the Ragna is good.
DC Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 Eh, I think I overhyped this game for myself. While playing CT I was having a lot of fun up until I played the top characters, but I swore that if CT was just a liiiiiiiiiiiiittle more balanced it would be an amazing game. I got so excited for CS because I thought it would be perfect, but it just ended up not being so. I'll admit they fixed some of the REALLY dumb shit, like special cancel rolls, the guard system (...almost), the burst system, mashing out of ice, etc. But it seems like for everything they fixed they added more dumb shit, the new projectile properties (debatable), autocorrect on certain moves, RACHEL, etc And then some of the original dumb shit they left unchanged. For the love of god, why can I only cancel the clash animation with another attack? If that doesn't encourage mashing then I don't know what does. If I see my attack clash I want to block, damn lol. In summary, I'm not getting the same feeling I did in CT where if this game was a LITTLE more balanced it would be perfect. I'm not sure whether or not it has to do with all of the new characters, but it definitely seems like on average, matchups are worse than they were in CT. (Whereas most characters only had bad matchups against the top characters, in CS many characters have bad matchups against other characters.) DON'T MISINTERPRET ME though, this game isn't MvC2, but in 6 months it seems like they have A LOT of shit to fix, and tbh I don't see that happening. Hell I wouldn't be surprised if Bang gets it worse than Rachel did. This is all my opinion btw, I thought it was relevant since we were talking about balance shortly before. Feel free to ignore. :p

They call that a balanced game when characters have bad and good matchups. As opposed to 'only good' or 'only shitty' matchups. It means Arc did their job correctly.
DC Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 I apologize, I meant bad matchups with other characters, among bad matchups with the top characters.

If I see my attack clash I want to block, damn lol. couldn't you cancel into a low recovery attack.... like 5A.... but I don't think it's a problem.... since it rarely happens. I haven't had one clash yet. also projectiles haven't changed. Rachels the exception... her lobelia sucks, it gets destroyed when she's hit, no matter the time.... unlike most projectiles
FlyingVe Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 ^^ Elipses aren't the same as periods dammit. @DC: How much of that do you think is just New game syndrome. At first I was all flustered, but as I got used to the new game that has all but disappeared.
Heroic_Legacy Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 I apologize, I meant bad matchups with other characters, among bad matchups with the top characters. Yeah I know what you meant. I'm saying that not every matchup in the game should be designated by tiers in a balanced game. Even bottom tier should have a favorable matchup or two (Tsubaki for instance)
GenoWhirl Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 Even Rachel has Arakune and Hazama . Even though it says it's 5:5 experience tells me you must still play better than them to win...
Dacidbro Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 The matchup chart as it stands right now is horrible, don't even look at it.
Spirit Juice Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 The matchup chart as it stands right now is horrible, don't even look at it. Go browse JBBS and find a better one then. Honestly though, not much has changed in terms of match ups, except maybe Arakune being higher on the list.
Dacidbro Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 Just saying spirit juice, it's way way way off.
kro_ Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 The only major changes I can see are moving Arakune and Jin up a bit. What else is wrong with it?
mundus Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 The only major changes I can see are moving Arakune and Jin up a bit. What else is wrong with it? Ragna lower, Lambda, Jin and Arakune higher is my opinion on the on the current tier list. Edit, i'm not referring to this tier list, but the arcadia one.
Spirit Juice Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 Not sure about Jin moving up a bit (seems to be the same stuff to me) and Ragna being lower. Arakune being higher makes sense, but that's really about it. I wouldn't say the old chart is "way way way off".
