Final_Round Posted September 20, 2010 Posted September 20, 2010 ok since tl are going to be going bye bye in the new cs... what combos should i be working on, the ab2 or the nontaunt combos...
XDest Posted September 20, 2010 Posted September 20, 2010 If you master both, you'll probably be able to handle any combo that CS2 Tao will have.
Ronove Posted September 20, 2010 Author Posted September 20, 2010 I got permission to reupload/edit a persons footage of the grand final satoshi vs tsujikawa. It'll be up later tonight. Tsujikawa had interesting stuff. J.d~a fall airdash j.c land 2d~9 etc. TL 214d 2d~b 6a 236bbbbb (oki)run up neutral jump j.b whiff crossup 2b neutraltech crossunder pressure 6a(block) 22c(ch) 5d RC 6a tauntloop+ender 5k+ That 2b crossunder was freaking gold, he was litterally toying with Satoshi's brain. Also good choice in going for oki at the end of the TL, less damage is fine as long as he could keep the pressure on Bang.
Taokakaism Posted September 20, 2010 Posted September 20, 2010 Hello people. I am in Japan for 2 weeks and I was lucky enough to go to TGS 2010, where SBO is held. Watching Tsujikawa's Taokaka live :D Didn't get to go on day 2 to try Valkenhayn though. Got back 2 hours ago from Mikado's 2v2. But the Mikado had many entrants and was changed to 1v1 single elim. Tsujikawa, Dora(Doragon Seiryuu?? I could be wrong), Blacky and Goro joined the tournament with some other SBO entrants(LOLWUTWHY). I fought with Doragon Seiryuu and died. ): But I learnt that yomi 6B is a great move, against opponents that try to oki you with 2A. TRUE STORY. I believe my video was recorded and will be posted on nico. That is all.
Ronove Posted September 20, 2010 Author Posted September 20, 2010 Good shit Taokakaism, I wish I went to see that (and attend to it), I guess I'll have to wait next year provided that my next job will be near one of those areas (Tokyo area, Kinki or Chubu) And 6B is really understimated by a lot of players outside of its use as overhead. :3
Rabbit360 Posted September 22, 2010 Posted September 22, 2010 Going through the matchup threads I noticed that most of the information is for CT (posts from 2009). Is there a plan to retire or update some of these? Or does all the old matchup info still apply? It may be too much work for threads that don't get a lot of traffic, I don't know. Just a thought.
Cryingvoid Posted September 23, 2010 Posted September 23, 2010 With the upcoming patch to bring forth drastic changes, I guess, it is best to wait with the matchups update?
Mystic d Posted September 25, 2010 Posted September 25, 2010 sorry if its been answered already, but are there any good mixups/combos for tao with rapid cancel? the only thing i ever really see is drive -> RC -> 3C. any other notable ones?

Most of the mixup stuff I see is RCing drives. There's only a couple RC combos, but probably not stuff you'll use every match... combo -> j.236bbbbb -> RC -> Gold Burst .. 236236d CH drive~RC -> 6c -> taunt loop 236236d (4 hits) -> RC -> 6c -> taunt loop 3c (2 hits) -> 5d~RC -> 3c -> finish combo (if 3rd hit of first 3c would whiff)
KM Riku Posted September 25, 2010 Posted September 25, 2010 Taokaka wins SBO = every brazilian person you fight start crying saying that I do 4-5k combos meterless when they shouldn't even do 3k without taunt loop and that's broken...it's kinda ironic when most of those people wasn't complaining about Taunt loop before and are even using Bang and Litchi to counter pick me (even though I consider Tao Vs Bang matchup 5-5)...It's kinda sad play Tao like this.
KM Riku Posted September 25, 2010 Posted September 25, 2010 You're clearly overreacting. You say this because you were off when Yun, Fox and BlueLink started crying about it. Also if you want to comment about it, do it by msn.
LordSpectreX Posted September 26, 2010 Posted September 26, 2010 I have a question about Taokaka's mixups. I would ask this in the character forum, but this is a problem I have for all my characters; I face a lot of Taokaka who do that 3 hit low move then drive through me and repeat. Do you guys know what beats this? There is a slight moment where I can do something, but 5A for any character and throw doesn't work. Also, if I'm using a character with DP, do I do the motion from where Taokaka begins to drive at me or do I do it for where she's going to be? Thanks guys.

When they drive to the other side of you, just grab them before they can go into the 3C.
LordSpectreX Posted September 26, 2010 Posted September 26, 2010 Maybe it's becuase I was Hazama and Tsubaki, who both have short throws. Thanks.
Cryingvoid Posted September 26, 2010 Posted September 26, 2010 When they drive to the other side of you, just grab them before they can go into the 3C. It is kinda unreasonable to do 3C on non-counter drive hit confirm. Every decent player will insert anything punishing into that window against Tao, because of 3c's long startup (long in comparison). So more clever Tao's would prefer to follow up with either 5b or 2a. And that is the tricky part for opponent. We speak about non-counter straight drive crossup on hitconfirm, and no matter how strange it may sound, the opponent has the advantage here. Almost all cast's 5/2a beats Tao's 5b and 2a here, you just need good reaction and decent timing of it. Also, most of the cast can counter throw her.

But he was talking about a scrubby Tao who spammed 3C>5D~B over and over again, in which case just throwing them will work fine.
BlackMagick Posted September 26, 2010 Posted September 26, 2010 Right. But he was talking about a scrubby Tao who spammed 3C>5D~B over and over again, in which case just throwing them will work fine. If it is a scrubby Tao that would just spam 3C>5D~B all day, chances are he is unable to land the hit confirm from 5D~B making the move more unsafe than if it were to hit. In that case your fastest move should be able to counter it before he can do anything. I have not tried to grab but as another Tao player you should be able to 5a or 5b out of it. Possibly drive out of it also, charge the down up drive where she jumps to one of walls on the stage to reset. You should be able to punish them easily after that or set up for a big punish.
Itzwiitard Posted October 7, 2010 Posted October 7, 2010 Hey guys i got a question for yall, part from the ab2 ender is there any other times to use her specials in combos, i hav noticed the bnbs tend to do more damage, and cos all her combos lead to the air we cant special unless rc gold burst, so if im missing something plz tell me
Cryingvoid Posted October 9, 2010 Posted October 9, 2010 From the new locktest: Tao - Tao 6C slides - Tao D moves different somehow - Tao j2D hits more downwards, hard to use in combos - Tao 6B slower, but will combo into 5B on crouching opponents Is it starting to get clear we won't be able to use any j.2D in combos anymore?
KM Riku Posted October 9, 2010 Posted October 9, 2010 From the new locktest: Is it starting to get clear we won't be able to use any j.2D in combos anymore? If they really add same move proration to j.2D, there wouldn't be any reason to use it anyway.
Ronove Posted October 9, 2010 Author Posted October 9, 2010 [EDIT] I'm translating all of Tao's changes reported here: http://generalnantoka.blog35.fc2.com/blog-entry-387.html Buffs: - 6B > 5B now connects on all crouching characters - CAT2 slides down (? I suppose it's talking about knockdown?) Nerfs: - j.B can be blocked low (animation changed, it's not considered an overhead anymore) . No changes to j.2B - can't cancel j.D (I wonder if it's referring to ANY aerial drive or just j.5D) into CAT2 anymore - 6C slides down(?), making it impossible to combo off it unless done at the corner (NOTE, it seems like fatal 2C > 6C with wallbounce is still possible) - because of the changes to 6C, AB2 combos are not possible anymore - j.2D trajectory changed, harder to combo. - unless you change the type of aerial Drive during your combo (switching from one to an other) Tao will stall and fall down (this probably means you can't use the same type of aerial drive consecutively) ------- ugh, what the hell? what's the point in changing j.2D? That's going to affect her no-taunt combos as well. I don't get it, it's not like Tao needed such nerf. Just remove the TL and she would have been perfectly fine. And lol@6B, it was already bloody slow, even if you can combo off it (which was already possible anyway) it's hardly going to be used if you make it even slower.

Ronove Posted October 9, 2010 Author Posted October 9, 2010 Look at the post above yours, I edited it. Most of them are listed as nerfs.
KM Riku Posted October 9, 2010 Posted October 9, 2010 My god...what have they done to Tao? Dude, most of those changes are fucking retarded...really, what's the point of nerfing her j.D like that if she already have low HP and 4 primes? Also 6C is basically useless now if you can only combo from it in corner...and what about 2C FC combos now?
