I'm sorry this is a stupid question but, does dustloop have an irc channel? I've been looking all over the site but I can't seem to find any info on the topic. Thanks.

Why do evo fags always set the voices and music to korean? Or set the stage to Justice and Kliff for the entire tourney? Korean sounds are so stupid even koreans don't even listen to them. I've come to the conclusion that Evo don't take thier tournaments seriously when they try not to be arcade-perfect as they can be. Setting ridiculous korean crap sounds and justice stage for 90% of the tournament is as stupid as can be. Next thing you'll know everyone would be playing EX chars against GGX chars in Evo.

stupid question: does stage selection and voice set really matter? answer: not really

Did you meant those SO vs KY matches? If so, that's why I never bothered to store them after I watched it. I deleted them.

Anything that does not represent arcade-perfectness is an insult to authentic arcades, and authentic arcade players. Not taking arcade-perfectness seriously is like slapping players in the face. The audio cues they have been practising with so far is an example. The stages and character colors provide a familliar ground by which you would know the combinations of colors of characters and will not be surprised by camouflaged colored characters from the SP color roster. Plus it shows the lack of professionalism by the staff to provide a more authentic arcade-style organization. Letting people pick random shit like stages and music merely gives you the idea that the organizers don't gvie a shit what you do. Do I also need to mention that korean sounds sound like its regurgitated puke, and staring and listening to justice stage for hours on end is just totally stupid? Theres a reason why the stages change as they are - and the reason is that it keeps the backgrounds and music switching so that they won't be repetitive.

I didn't really thought about it the way you did... I just didn't like the music and stages and it looked like crap so I deleted them (No offense to anyone =P). Were the voice sets in Korean? I didn't notice... But Justice and Kliff stage sucks. Especially Kliff's. The brown background kinda blended with the Ky's brown outfit..

And they also invite a bunch of twits to play Halo.

What is up with that??

This kind of fighting game player rationale is something I just plain don't get. More people = more popular tournament = bigger scene = more money. It's cool that you think FPS's or whatever are skill-less braindead games and that fighting games are the second coming of christ, but do you really think that people are LOWER than you because they play Halo?

Also I'm posting again to disagree with this. See, America is big. We can't afford to put arcade cabs everywhere, it'd be too expensive. So if GGSlash isn't arcade perfect, tough fucking luck. Because I can't play any other version and neither can tons of other players. PS2 CvS2 is an accepted version although it has minor changes from arcade because it's much more widely available. Who the fuck cares if we deviate a very small amount from arcade versions in favor of games that everyone can play? They're just videogames, I'd just be happy if more people played GG period, arcade perfect or not.

I think what Kintaro meant was not that it wasn't played on a cabinet... But more that the matches were not played in stages only the arcades have them, the voice sets only the arcades have them, etc.

Sorry if I am wrong.

No, I'm pretty sure that's what he was saying, but it goes a bit farther than that. Who cares if someone changes the music or stage to Kliff or Justice or plays occasionally with Korean voices? It's a game, and for casual matches it doesn't matter. If either player in a tournament actually cares about Korean voices/stages/colors then they can just say they want it changed and it'll get changed.

I think it's when you spend the entire battle using a crouching block in a corner and spamming long range attacks whenever someone gets near. Kinda like the opposite of Corner Rape. I don't think it's been a valid strategy in any decent fighting game for years now, and is punished pretty hard in GG particularly because of that NEGATIVE PENALTY applied when you do so for too long.

I'm not sure about any of that, though. That's just the impression I've gotten.

Also I'm just going to go through this page answering shit~

Turtling is basically playing like a turtle - safe and protected. It's a valid tactic in GG because negative penalty can be easily avoided by any player worth their salt. Turtling for example would be like a GG potemkin who was incredibly patient and didn't ever really try to make a serious offensive front. Instead, he plays defensively and punished mistakes and tried to IB-buster every chance he gets. It's all about maximizing damage off your opponents' mistakes.

People tend to get turtling mixed up with conservative play. Conservative play being play where you play incredibly safe, yet still keep your momentum. Not many american players play in this way, but a lot of japanese do. If you watch jap videos you'll see, for example, the jam string 5k, 2p, dash 2s, dash 2s, 5k, 2p, dash ~ but it would end before too long (either in finally pushing the other character far away, or jam grabbing/landing a hit). This is conservative play on both fronts -- the other person knows that jams 2s/5k will cream whatever he does in the frametrap so he stays and blocks and the jam knows that the other player knows this so he keeps coming in, but the key to conservative play is never getting carried away. The jam will probably end his pressure before it becomes too obvious and predictable. Another important part of playing conservatively is poking safely and making damage come from your safe pokes (anime fags call this 'abare' becaause it's japanese for 'turning random shit into big damage'). Basically, conservative play is the opposite of your typical american sol player that mashes on VV during blocked strings for a lucky hit. It's easy to get this mixed up with turtling because it's a very slow way to play GG, and it can be pretty boring to watch.

Well this really wasn't what I looked for in a reaction to what I posted but LOL.

And wouldn't you know it? I said twits b/c the twits playing Halo were the ones who needed an attitude adjustment last year acting like all high and insulted as they believed that the fighting games were the skill-less button mashers. Those even are still to this day their very own words. And they thought that the fighters were lower than them!

And I don't think FPS games are skill-less braindead games! I love that shit! But those people playing them at EVO really were twits!

i thought kintaro was just joking, so bleh. ANd basically he's mocking those ppl who cry and weep about things not being "ARCADE PURRFECT" and shit like that. dunno, just a thought. and as for halo players? who cares. I personally think western culture identify halo and FPS as the betta thing than us arcade fighters anyway. Hence the cockiness and shit house comments made by them. But who gives a damn, coz i sure as hell think any fighter brings a lot more entertainment than FPS (not saying FPS is not entertaining, just that it's mediocre compared to games like GG). So yea, western culture and identity sort of represent HALO players as the LEET community, while in asian countries, it's quite the opposite AFAIK. Halo players and the like, in hk, are known as wimps or underage stupid kids who doens't have the skills to play arcade games.

In #R's story mode, how do you select/play the different story paths for each character? I've searched a lot, and haven't found much on it. I've heard that there are certain conditions to fullfill to play certain paths, but thats it. So is it determined by how the early fights go in the story to determine which path is taken? Such as win with over 50% health or something like that?

The swapping probaly does get pretty annoying, but i don't feel like waiting to save up money for a mod chip. Thanks for helping me make sure thats what I needed to get though.

in japan, interest groups are often referred as doukoukai, dousoukai, doujinkai, etc. thus printed publications released by these circles are often referred to as doujinshi (not limited to fan-made manga parodying animes/games/whatnot, although that is what the term has became known mostly for outside of japan).

in a similar fashion "doujin games" are basically fan-made softwares not affiliated with large scale publishers. examples of more famous and popular doujin fighters include melty blood, eternal fighter zero, and immaterial and missing powers.
