Either buy from lizardlick.com OR buy from akihabarashop.jp Both are excellent to buy from and very good people to deal with. Hope that helps

I don't know if this has been asked already yet, but...here's the thing; I have a HRAP2 SA, and I am not used to the square gate. AT ALL. So, put bluntly, I have 2 options. 1. Quit sucking and adapt. or 2. Mod it with a Happ Competition stick (which I assume has a circle gate). My question is regarding the 2nd option. Basially, what I want to do is retain the Sanwa gumbal "stick" and place that into the Happ gate. Does anyone here know if that's even possible?

do any of you know anything about the ps2 virtua stick? i've come across one for $100, and i would buy it right away except for the fact that i know nothing about it.

four, three and six button layouts, sturdy looking case and solid looking buttons. but i can't confirm if it's a good stick or not because i can't find any specs or testimonials anywhere.

so yeah, if any of you know anything about this stick, i would like to hear from you.

It'd be easier to just swap the restrictor plate on the Sanwa. They make circular ones, or at least octagonal. Anyway, if they're anything like the LS-32, you can get a ghetto circle gate just by completely removing the restrictor plate, which on the JLF is that round clear plastic part on the bottom.

Oh man, I just did this and I have to tell you it's like night and day. I think it's going to probably ruin the joystick itself but fuck it, it can be replaced. Now I can do my 3rd Strike supers and go back to learning I-No on stick. 662363214+S is sooooooo much easier now. Plus doing 360's is actually possible. Going to have to get me a round gate soon but for now, this really does make things so much better.

The only thing that might be a problem to mod would be if you wanted to swap out the stick and it had a funny mounting plate. You can probably work around that though, although the result might not be super clean (ie you might have to drill some holes for bolts).

Happ sticks aren't anything remotely like Japanese sticks, they don't have restrictor plates or anything, they use completely different switches and the mechanisms are very different. Also Happ sticks are huge in terms of depth so you probably can't fit it anyway.

Sanwa JLF sticks have octagonal plates you can get. The circular ones are JLW only, and you probably don't really want one of those.

You don't want to use your sticks without some sort of gate. Seimitsu sticks have these weird 2-layer plastic gate things. The top layer has 4 and 2 way settings on them, but you can actually just remove that part as it doesn't do anything for normal 8-way operation. You DON'T want to remove the whole gate setup as that will fuck up your stick really quick.

The short answer though, is get used to the square gates. Either that or buy/make a Happ stick and use that instead.

I just checked Akihabarashop and it looks like they have the GT-Y octagonal restrictors you were talking about. Just to clear things up (sorry, I am not good with joystick modification), would that fit onto the JLF-TP-8YT-SK in my HRAP2SA? I know it says it's for JLF-TP-8Y, but again - I don't know from this newfangled item code...stuff...

Where can I find some good images for a custom stick? I see sticks all the time with sick ass art on them, but whenever i google search images, i get back jack shit.. or really small images.. do you guys just use like, wallpaper sites?

Posted

I mean that's what they basically are....wallpapers. You could always make one for yourself as well. Seriously, you could use anything, as long as it looks good to you.

i mainly meant a site that had stuff like promo art for fighting games.. other than fighters gen. and my ph0tosh0pz aren't leet enough to use as on there.

i like more simple shit.. i found a sick mega man picture on deviantart, i'm thinkin about using it.. still wanna look around some more.

Just a quick question. Most people use the old PS(1) controller, take it apart, and use the PCB in the custom stick, right? Would one of those sticks work properly with the PS3?

so the retailer i was purchasing the virtua stick from couldn't get it from japan like they said they could (even though the website says it's in stock and ready to ship :vbang:) so now i'm looking for a new stick.

this especially sucks for me because that stick was fucking perfect. it had the appropriate layouts for all the games i play (3 button vf, 5 button gg and 4 button snk) and i can't find another stick that fulfills that criteria :psyduck:.

i'm honestly considering going the cheap route and modding a mayflash with a jlf and osbf-30rg's. the only thing is that i've never actually used one so i don't know how comfortable the housing is. can anyone attest to the quality of the housing of those?

otherwise, i might just end up getting an hrap (though i really would like a single stick i could use for all my games, and no model of hrap would be able to do that) and paying too much for shipping.

HRAPs work out pretty well for all game types. I have played KOF, AH, GG and SC on HRAPS and they work perfectly. Maybe its just me though.

HRAP's are worth the extra dough. The stick that comes with it is a JLF, and the stock buttons are not half bad. If you want to throw Sanwa's or Seimitsu's in a HRAP its really easy to do, and its not hard to put custom artwork on it either. Mayflash isn't bad, but its not the best either. I played on a modded mayflash and it worked fine and was comfortable. Personally I'd go with a Hrap, but its up to you. _____ I had a question for you guys too. I was wondering if there was any way to mod seimitsu buttons so that they are like sanwa's? I.E. Taking the Button Plunger out, and replacing the seimitsu microswitch with a sanwa one? I don't have any seimitsu's to test this, but I'm pretty sure that I'm not the first to think of this, so I was hoping if any of you have ever tried it.

I love arcade sticks. <3 Just wanted to share. HRAP amazon.co.jp (PS2) is good! I wish it was HRAP V. A tho.

what kind of four button setup did you use for kof? i play garou a lot so this matters to me.

i also play vf so i need a good three button config, and i guess the hrap 2 has that but the standard hrap doesn't. i'd be doing fairly extensive modification regardless of which one i got, which is why i almost want to get a mayflash more, but my resident stick guy is telling me not to because it's a waste of money (even though with the buttons and stick it would cost as much as a stock hrap? :psyduck:).
