bucklemyshoe Posted February 27, 2008 Posted February 27, 2008 i always see srk mentioned but i have no clue what website that actually is. has anyone played with the hori arcana heart stick? i found one but it's 175$. im not too sure it's worth it.
Shazay Posted February 27, 2008 Author Posted February 27, 2008 http://forums.shoryuken.com/ You have to register to see the trading outlet. Arcana stick isn't worth it in terms of quality (seeing how it has the same parts as an HRAP2 but costs way more). Its just for people who really want it.
Incendia Posted February 28, 2008 Posted February 28, 2008 Just to ask, how sturdy is the HRAP1's stick's build? A friend of mine lifted it completely using only the stick alone today, and by the time i stopped him, well, he had held it for awhile. Just wondering if any harm's been done?
RoBoBOBR Posted February 28, 2008 Posted February 28, 2008 I would recommend to lift that friend of yours using only his "stick" alone =)) Jokes aside - just test it, and if no malfunctioning takes place then i think no damage was done.

LOL. I kinda had half a mind to mash on his "stick" like i would a GV. But yeah, i did test it later on and it seems to be functioning ok. Maybe i was just paranoid lol. Thanks anyways :D
Shazay Posted February 29, 2008 Author Posted February 29, 2008 Don't worry about/stop being paranoid. I see people do that all the time.
~Générà l~ Posted February 29, 2008 Posted February 29, 2008 ..i was wondering which 1 was better...a 4-way, or 8 way stick.edit -thanks Monz.
stinkymonz Posted March 1, 2008 Posted March 1, 2008 You could use whatever that works best for you. However, if you think you'll visit somewhere with a real arcade cab, then it's best to learn on default parts: ball top, 4-way stick, default button layout.
Necrosis Posted March 5, 2008 Posted March 5, 2008 From my experience, since I've lifted my HRAP2 by the stick a few times when I had no better option and was feeling very lazy, its perfectly fine. ... the real problem with mine is the grounding wire, apparently.
Koozebanian Fazoob Posted March 6, 2008 Posted March 6, 2008 Do you guys even know what a 4-way stick is? 4-way means no diagonals at all. It's for shit like Pacman. Most sticks you can set their gates to either 4 or 8 way.

2ndPlayer Posted March 13, 2008 Posted March 13, 2008 I got myself a hori fighting stick 2, I was wondering if it's any good? Is there any modification I can do to upgrade the stick?
RoBoBOBR Posted March 13, 2008 Posted March 13, 2008 You really should mod it for it to be good. Replace the hori stick with sanwa stick and hori buttons with sanwa ones.
Koozebanian Fazoob Posted March 13, 2008 Posted March 13, 2008 you are dumb. Uh sorry, I'm right. Look it up if you don't think so: http://wiki.arcadecontrols.com/wiki/Joysticks
Aurora Borealis Posted March 18, 2008 Posted March 18, 2008 I just got myself a Hori Real Arcade Pro Stick 2 recently. My questions are gameplay-related, so maybe this should be in the gameplay section, but this is the joystick thread, so... Anyway, I've been playing around for a couple of days, and like everyone else who tries the stick out for the first time, my main problems are with dashing and airdashing. I know I just need to practice, but I think I'm using my arm too much and being a little too jerky with my motions. It seems to take quite a bit of effort for me to do an airdash, and it doesn't help that I use Millia, who has two airdashes. Any advice as to how I can airdash with more ease and less motion? When I try to jump to the right, maybe it's because I'm leaning the stick more towards up than up-right, but I jump up sometimes. Other things happen to, not very frequently, but this is the most common occurence. Do I have to be pretty precise in what direction I lean the stick towards to get what I want to come out? Strangely enough, after like an hour or so of play, it's my right hand, not my left, that hurts, particularly my 4th finger and maybe the pinky (I try to use all fingers, and I use the arcade layout). Am I mashing the buttons too hard or something? I actually don't think my progress is too bad, but could someone give me an estimate as to how long it takes to get really comfortable with the stick? I heard 3 months, but that does seem a little long... Thanks for reading through. I know I have a lot of questions.
Cadenza Posted March 18, 2008 Posted March 18, 2008 3 months is actually kind of accurate. I first started playing stick/got my stick about 3 months ago. Now I'm pretty damn comfortable with sticks. The first thing you want to realize is that most people will differ in style. None of the people I've played use the stick like I do (I have an HRAP2 as well), so I don't think I should be one to give advice. Over the next while you just want stick to a style, like how close you put your wrist/hand to the ball, will you 66 while holding the ball or will you let go and push 66 with your fingers all pointed out (similar to the way most people would do it on an american stick, since it doesn't have a ball on the top for you to grab it with). That's just my take on it. I've seen a bunch of different ways to handle it now and I really just think if you stick to a style (preferably your own) you'll find it to be the most comfortable. For the record I usually don't ever let go of the ball and I hold the ball top with my thumb, pointer and middle finger with my wrist pretty close to the stick.
SugataDesigns Posted March 19, 2008 Posted March 19, 2008 Could someone tell me how to tighten the stick? One of our HRAP2's sticks has become a little loose. It's not game-breaking but we'd like to tighten it back up. Thanks!
4r5 Posted March 19, 2008 Posted March 19, 2008 loose as in you use it? or loose as in the ball top is spinning?
SugataDesigns Posted March 19, 2008 Posted March 19, 2008 loose as in you use it? or loose as in the ball top is spinning? Loose as in I use it >_>' The snapback to the center is sluggish. Is there any way to tighten it back up?
Digital Watches Posted March 20, 2008 Posted March 20, 2008 Loose as in I use it >_>' The snapback to the center is sluggish. Is there any way to tighten it back up? That's just normal wear and tear. I tend to keep mine for a bit after they start to do that, as they're not that bad once you get used to them... But you need to replace the stick to have that "brand new" tightness.
Hellmonkey Posted March 20, 2008 Posted March 20, 2008 Loose as in I use it >_>' The snapback to the center is sluggish. Is there any way to tighten it back up? I had this problem with the sanwa I had in my modded T5. Turns out it just got really dirty, but when I cleaned it it also got rid of the grease they put on it. I tried using some cheaper lubricant but it got dirty pretty quickly, I recently ordered a new sanwa stick to put in along with the grease they have on it when you buy it, incase it happens again.
SugataDesigns Posted March 20, 2008 Posted March 20, 2008 Thanks for the responses, I'll see if there's anything I can do. Not really a big deal. Trevor's is still tight and I'm getting use to it being loose (LOL GAY), so we'll just have to put nametags on them or something, heh.

Man up and buy new parts: Lizarlick.com tends to be fast to deliver. Like... a week at most. I recommend sanwa buttons and Seimitsu sticks, but it's a matter of preference.

Till then I'ma whine like a little kid (thanks for link - in reality I'ma probably wait to get a new stick until I can get a custom one, but we'll see how it plays out. It honestly doesn't mess up my playing at all)
