Also, Mu meterless airthrow stuff would be done with Ame no Totsuka already out and would require strict timing?

If you placed a charged stein before the throw, it can OTG them at the very end of the untechable time, allowing Mu to combo off it into just about anything, there are setups for it, but most of the time you just need to know that there's a laser on the way in order to save meter.

What a coincidence, so do I, I also get creamed by Tager.

:< Damn you Spark.

I have a terrible habit of trying to attack Hakumen when lasers are going off and teleporting a 1/3 of the screen to him so he can throw me.

Ugh. I hate fighting Tager. If I have to fight Tager I pick Noel.

C0R you must realize it's not hakumen or tager you're getting bodied by, it's Spark. If he played good characters we'd all be DOOMED.

I understand. Looks like the Mu player has to be flexible in order to apply her most complicated stuff.

Can Mu get 5k after a guard break in the corner? I mean, let's suppose you have 50 meter and do a 5k combo that leaves 3 steins out, you can break 5 primers with Ame no Habakiri and full charged SoD. Then you go for another 5k...that's pretty much more than half of the cast's HP. Right?

Mu can kill anyone in the cast with two strong corner combos. If you land a guard crush in the corner it's almost always worth it to gold burst for the kill.

Meterless air throw combos....*goes to experiment*

And Tager can be difficult...he's not free unless you can avoid getting magnetized the entire match. :3 Plus if it's a good Tager player it'll be even harder.

And Haku isn't godawful but it's a little on the boring side...

i also think that valkenheyn and tao (like flyingve said) are both very good and are a possible difficult matchup for mu because of their mobility. Tao's damage is nerfed because of the tauntloop removal but she still has fairly decent mixups and other gimmicks

Tao doesn't technically have mixups...crossups and long-ass pressure strings but no mixup. It's flashy and fast but not scary imo. Barrier blocking against her is pretty good cause it pushes her out of range. The only thing I find difficult about fighting Tao is finding time to set stuff up, but once you do she's not so bad, since she can't fly all over when you have lasers out.

From the Valkenhayn vs. Mu-12 match-up thread.

I wrote a huge post elaborating the matchup but it got lost in the server cache :<

Long story short; From my experience this matchup is not in Valkenhayn's favor for several reasons, but I can see why it would seem so to most players without experience against a powerful Mu player.

Defensive play by the Murakumo is going to die for a variety of reasons, similar to how you can't run away and zone Bang. To win this matchup Mu needs to speed up, stay mobile and punch superwolf in the face like her 6a is made out of cryptonite, her offensive capabilities are very strong, but highly underrated, and underplayed. Her damage output is far too high to ignore with hasty and misguided approach.

Therefore, if you can use your approach options to scare her into a "I'm just going to Downback for a bit because I'm afraid in neutral" mindset, there should be no trouble defeating her, but it's important to be conscious of her ability to do the same thing to Valkenhayn, and to never underestimate her better pokes. All in all, most Mu players won't give Valk much trouble due to their habits of playing far too defensively, so you shouldn't need to run much besides standard approach tactics and offense.

TL;DR: Be a bit more agressive vs. Valk; a bit more active zoning, a little more CQC.

Since we were talking about it...

I posted this before, but this is my take on the game right now (order within tiers does not matter), most of us seem to be thinking about the same thing more or less:

S:Makoto, Hazama, Tao

A: Jin, Carl, Valk, Mu, Litchi, Rachel

A-:Noel

B: Lambda, Ragna, Arakune

C: Hakumen, Tsubaki, Platinum, Bang

T: Tager

@nickextreme: i know that i have to be more aggresive, but valk has faster normals and his c has almost as much reach as yours and he has very annoyingly good anti airs. So recklessly rushing him will get you killed even faster. zoning is out of the question when he knows/suspects that you are going to do it, because he will close in on you fast.

@flyingve : i think that noel is also an a tier character like jin (she is one of jin's harder matchups) and tsubaki does seem surprisingly low.

Huh no wonder the valk matchup didn't seem favorable... wait why is the valk vs mu thread more helpful for me than the mu vs valk thread? :psyduck: maybe I'll go check out all the other boards' vs Mu threads.

I pretty much agree with Ve's list. However, I kinda disagree with tager's placement (he could be C/C- tier), but this is Mu general and not tager general so :I:

On the topic, which matchups do you guys rushdown/space/keepaway? Just generally I'm just wondering if there might be another matchup I'm not approaching correctly at all. Some matchups feel really bad for mu until I realize I'm just doing it wrong.

Rush:Hazama

Space: Everyone else

KeepAway: Rachel, Arakune, Tager, Carl

This breakdown is kinda wierd, because Mu uses her spacing and keepaway game to setup her rushdown, so it's not really a character by character thing. Some characters make it hard to do that though.

Why do you put Tsubaki so low Ve? I can see the other three in there, but Tsubaki is surprising to me.

Short answer, she's still a poor man's Ragna. But she's not helpless this time around.

i think you should also rush down lambda and not just hazama, because she doesnt have a dp in cs2 (except for 1 , but that costs 50% heat) and she is better at zoning than you.
