Kayahtic Posted August 19, 2011 Posted August 19, 2011 I has question guys. I think my Mu's is becoming pretty decent, and I know this answer already, but I just wanna confirm it as I grow my way into getting better. Its better to practice online and get better right? Since people actually do combos on there and the real deal. Learning to block more, patters, match ups, etc. Learning mistakes, all of that. Just wanted to confirm with more experienced people.
Zeromus_X Posted August 19, 2011 Posted August 19, 2011 Its better to practice online and get better right? Well, I think most players would agree that getting good, offline experience is necessary for improving. But (taking a note from LK here) online play can still be very beneficial for matchups and adapting to different styles of play. As long as you find decent players with good connections and can adapt between online and off, online can be a good way to get better.

pochp Posted August 19, 2011 Posted August 19, 2011 (Adding to what Zeromus said) Yeah, a good mix of offline and online is probably the best. Offline of course being against good human opponents that can give you advice, and not a bot. Online may give you a few bad habits, but it teaches you how to adapt, always playing the exact same 2-3 people doesn't give you that. Look for a scene nearby, check the match finder, you never know! The best thing about online though, is that it's really easy to record your matches so you can watch them after to notice your mistakes, bad habits, etc.
YukiBlue Posted August 19, 2011 Posted August 19, 2011 Before this sinks into a Netplay vs Offline argument. As long as you keep playing people, You will get better, Simple as that. You will learn everything you need to know about Mu by doing the following (Applies to any character) 1) Play them. A lot. Against Everyone 2) watch JP Videos (Especially Kei and Sakuma) 3) Lurk Mu Boards and post Q's and get A's 4) Win
pochp Posted August 19, 2011 Posted August 19, 2011 Don't worry, we're talking about the Mu boards. We don't have arguments, unless we get invaded. By the way, just a heads up, but Dio and Arigatou Sagi (although we haven't seen anything from these lately) are also pretty instructive to watch. Just something I noticed while making the list, I didn't check them all out though, so this isn't exclusive.
Kayahtic Posted August 19, 2011 Posted August 19, 2011 Alright, cool thanks again guys. I always thought offline was better to practice the combos and get them down.
Zeromus_X Posted August 19, 2011 Posted August 19, 2011 (edited) Guys I think I may have found some weird glitch or exploit. Remember the video pochp posted with 3C, 214D, run up and green throw? I'll have to dig through the video thread to find it, but I've been messing with it and have gotten some weird results. I'll have to record a video of it later, but basically you already have a stein over them in the corner, from a combo or otherwise. Then you end a combo with a very close 3C, cancelled into 214D for oki. Then, assuming they're scared enough to neutral tech immediately, you run in and throw them just as they tech. If you do it right (timing isn't hard) your grab should connect right when they tech, and it will be green despite the explosion. However...if they only have one primer left, and you green throw them, you'll green throw then while they get guard crushed. You'll throw them, right as their guard breaks and you hear the shattering effect. Their guard primers will be zero, but you can still combo off the grab and everything. But here's the weird part. After they recover from your combo, their guard primers will recover. But any next hit you do that they block, will guard crush them again, except they won't lose primers. You'll hear the guardstun sound effect and their guard crush voice clip. You can still do a full guard crush combo and everything. I guess it's because the game didn't register them as getting guard crushed as you throw them. It looks totally wacky, I wonder if there's some practical use with this. pochp Posted August 19, 2011 Posted August 19, 2011 that sounds awesome. situational... but soooo broken btw http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0cQMlui0OrI#t=22m15s
Aginor Posted August 19, 2011 Posted August 19, 2011 To answer your questions of online play please read this post. http://www.dustloop.com/forums/showthread.php?11944-LK-s-GAMEPLAY-RELATED-QUESTIONS-ONLY-cs2&p=1069242&viewfull=1#post1069242 But imo, netplay is a double-edged sword. I personally don't really netplay though sometimes I will once in a blue moon.
SolarMisae Posted August 19, 2011 Posted August 19, 2011 But imo, netplay is a double-edged sword. I personally don't really netplay though sometimes I will once in a blue moon. I agree with this. I never played on netplay very extensively ever since I started this game. I've played Mu online like, once when I was first starting out and stopped. Though I agree if the connection is good, it can be alright. I'd probably play more online if I personally had better connections with people. But being stuck out in Hawaii + inability to hook up a wired connection at the moment = bad connections with many people. Cause of that I find I'm far too sensitive to any amount of input delay though. (Shit, the 2 frame lag on our local gaming league's monitor gets to me...) If I try to adjust it'll screw me up offline and vice versa. I'm not one of those people who can easily adjust to one or the other so I prioritize my offline game, as I feel thats far more important.
YukiBlue Posted August 19, 2011 Posted August 19, 2011 I don't play at the Level where Frames matter that much. But anything below a 3 online makes me pretty angry. Especially against Noel where Frames during Chain Revolver dont mean shit. Played offline once and loved it, but the FG Scenes in the UK are miniscule.

YukiBlue Posted August 19, 2011 Posted August 19, 2011 > Implying im near Solars level. Seriously, When you see me play your face will hit your keyboard.
YukiBlue Posted August 19, 2011 Posted August 19, 2011 I see you everywhere, Lumin. You wander Dustloop and invade all the General threads too? I'll say hi next time I see you.
LuminAbyss Posted August 19, 2011 Posted August 19, 2011 I can proudly say I have a legitimate "about the character in question discussion" post in every general thread. Except Jin boards. BUT THEY DON'T HAVE A GENERAL THREAD SOB. Seriously, I see you everywhere too Yuki. We should team up.
YukiBlue Posted August 19, 2011 Posted August 19, 2011 I agree, I'm sure our combined might would be too much for even the NVG.
LuminAbyss Posted August 19, 2011 Posted August 19, 2011 Our combined might might be enough to take over Dustloop. Besides, I own C0R. We'd be unstoppable.
YukiBlue Posted August 19, 2011 Posted August 19, 2011 And I have some property over on the Lambda boards, and Solarmisae on these boards. We got this.
C0R Posted August 20, 2011 Posted August 20, 2011 Our combined might might be enough to take over Dustloop. Besides, I own C0R. We'd be unstoppable. Now yours for a limited time only.
