It just seemed a little fail to call it a "gag reel". I fully understood the part about her not remembering the bug or any of the events that happened due to memory wipe. But it's just not funny, not fitting to be called a "gag reel" ending.

Lamby's story is so sad even her joke ending is sad. On the other hand, every time valley girl/pirate Nu shows up, its hilarious.

So, Tsubaki got stuck with the obligatory "forced to wear different clothing" ending.

Honestly I was impressed with Tsubaki's story or rather involvement in the story. Most scenes with her were quite engaging like with Hakumen and Noel.

I wonder what they might do to her in the next game with how she changed.

One thing I don't get: In Noel's story Jubei makes a big deal about she's the only one who can 'save' Jin from his fate but....she didn't really seem to do anything about that and now he's more or less cured of his insanity, or so it seems.

Also felt the True End was kind of a letdown, in that both Jin and Hakumen's stories seem to be leading up to Jin having some sort of confrontation to save Tsubaki from Hazama's influence and that never wound up happening; they barely even show up.

Posted

In the story Hazama mentioned that Noel replaced Tsubaki place. If Noel weren't here, Tsubaki will be with Jin, and Tsubaki will eventually die and changed Jin to the way Hakuman is now.

Since Noel exist in this timeline, perhaps Tsubaki will live after all.

So I just saw this and thought I'd mention it but... Relius is a COLONEL in the Engineering Corps, for such an important guy in the NOL you'd think Carl would have been able to find him before now.

So I just saw this and thought I'd mention it but... Relius is a COLONEL in the Engineering Corps, for such an important guy in the NOL you'd think Carl would have been able to find him before now.

I noticed that too, as well as the fact that Relius apparently wounded Jubei pretty badly and is now more powerful than him. For a man as monstrous as him to be both politically powerful AND stronger than the supposed "strongest creature on the planet" is a pretty scary thought.

Relius didn't wound Jubei. Phantom did.

Typed up Noel's true end, where Terumi mindrapes her.

[Noel]

*Pant* *Pant*

[Hazama]

Oh-HO! Interesting...

I guess you've improved a little bit, haven't you Noel?

[Noel]

I heard enough from you! How dare you give Tsubaki such an order...! What exactly are you trying to do?!

[Hazama]

What am I trying to do? You'd really like to know, would you? Heh heh...

Well, you stepped over the corpse of Lieutenant Garbage to get this far, so I'm guessing you won't go back without at least one answer, will you?

[Noel]

Terumi...!

[Hazama]

Why the hell not? I'll show you what despair looks like! Make sure you take a goooooooood long look with those beautiful eyes of yours. This'll be on the test!

[Noel]

Wh-What's going on...?!

Just like with Carl and Tsubaki...!

B-But...these feelings... I don't know why, but I can't stop trembling...

Huh...! Wh-What's that?!

[???]

H-Help...

[Noel]

This...is...?

Eh...? N-No...!

[???]

Somebody...! No...!

[Noel]

Stop...stop this...

Somebody...Anybody... Please...help!

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

[Hazama]

Hey there, kid! Welcome back.

[Noel]

...Ah. ...Ah...

[Hazama]

Well, this is no good...

I guess spending a hundred years staring at that thing'll mess you up good, huh? My congratulations.

[Noel]

...Why?

[Hazama]

Oh, you're really gonna ask that? Seriously? Come ON! I thought that was obvious! I'm here to kill everyone!

[Noel]

...Why?

[Hazama]

Here, why don't you try and remember... Remember all the bad things those mean humans did to you.

[Noel]

...Why?

[Hazama]

Well, that one's easy! Because you're all creatures that are meant to be loathed! Hated! Despised!

[Noel]

...Ah...

[Hazama]

You did see it, right? The real world--the real story?! Can't you hear it? All those hideous little filth-covered monsters, crying! You've gotta feel it... Every single soul on this planet wants. You. Dead.

This world... This world's supposed to be dead. Dead! But somehow, we managed to screw with it so much that it's gotten stuck, and now it just repeats itself, again and again and again and again and again and again...

[Noel]

But...why...?

[Hazama]

...You really wanna know? Fine.

Once upon a time, mankind found the first gate. Being stupid humans, they decided to know what was on the other side, so they created what they called Boundary Interface Prime Field Devices. See, humans are such pussies that they can't survive on the other side, and their machines are just as pathetic.

Of course, they failed. Over and over and over, until finally, somehow, one of these test subjects made it aaaaaaall the way to the deepest part of the Boundary... The heart of it, I guess you could say. The Azure. And when it did that...well. Let's just say shit got real.

This thing--they call 'em "prime fields" when they're lazy--developed emotions. One of these puppets built for observation and research somehow grew a soul. 'Course, all the scientists thought they were goddamn geniuses making some kind of incredible breakthrough. I mean, they were, but not the one they thought.

See, when it grew a soul, this prime field also developed the power of the Eye. And these scientists, they had no idea just what that meant.

I mean, think about it! The Eye could observe anything it wanted, and whatever it observed was real! See?! Eh heh heh. See...

Anyway, before long, the scientists figured this out, and being the small, shortsighted maggots that they were, they tried to destroy it. That didn't work so well, so they decided to seal it back into the Boundary. They threw it all the way to the bottom, down in the darkness, where there was nothing.

But hey! You know this isn't the end! Anybody does! I mean, once humans gotta taste of that power, the kind of power only a GOD should have... Well.

The idiots decided it would be a good idea if they could really tap into the power of the Azure. Might give them a leg up on the battlefield, you know? So they built more prime field devices.

But you see, these weren't just recon tools anymore. Ooooooh no! These were balls-out weapons of mass destruction! The moment one of these babies popped outta the cauldron, the humans would just seal away its emotion, turning it into a slave. A puppet.

[Noel]

...

[Hazama]

Still paying attention? Looks kinda empty in there, to be honest.

Anyway, this is where it gets interesting. Well...hmm. I dunno. Maybe if you find tragedies interesting? The things were treated like tools--well, no, "weapons" is better. Like, you know, a hand grenade or a bomb or something.

[Noel]

...Just...stop...it...

[Hazama]

Man, you know, I'm actually getting tired of talking. Guess that's what happens when you make your body do stuff it's not used to, huh?

So, you wanna hear more? There's a lot more, you know. You wanna hear it? Do ya?

[Noel]

No...no more...please...stop!

[Hazama]

Yes, please, Mr. Hazama? Well, if you ask so nicely, of course I'll tell you! You see, the tools--these puppets--I've been telling you about, they're your REAL brothers and sisters! Hahahaha... Noel--aw, what am I saying? That's not your real name. So, "Noel," what does all of that make YOU?

[Noel]

Stop it...

A black light begins to shine from Bolverk.

[Hazama]

Ahahahahahaha! So you've been in denial this WHOLE TIME?!

Well, yeah, of course. I guess you would be. I mean, anybody in your situation would do the same, right? Still, this is something you're gonna have to live with, you know? You gotta learn to accept it. You gotta learn to be you!

[Noel]

Stop it...stop stop STOP!

[Hazama]

You're...

[Noel]

Stop it! Stop it! Stop it!

[Hazama]

You aren't a person! You were BUILT! You're just a tool! A puppet! A joke! Who the hell do you think you're fooling with your little act? Well, yourself, maybe, but hell. Can't even do that, now! You're a puppet, girl! Just like that sad sack of crap we all took turns pounding on a while back!

Please tell me if you see any typos.

A bit minor but... these are the only typos I noticed, oh well.

Thanks, I enjoyed reading this.

After playing Tager's story mode Im more convinced that is very likely that he is lord tenjo's son or maybe even lord tenjo himself. After he "remembered" something that happened at ikaruga in his encounter with hazama/terumi

He's not. He was an NOL commander during the war.

Wait, where is that said? I was sure he was sided with Ikaruga during that war. There's no way he'd be part of the NOL and yet be fighting for Ikaruga...

Thanks, I'm pretty crappy at noticing my own typos. You're welcome, I'm going to see if I can type up all the True Ends at least.

The Material Collection, I believe.

Very comprehensive! One of the things I'm trying to make sense of though is who is in control. I know we should now believe Saya is the mastermind behind everything, but how does she relate to Takamagahra? Was she a product of their system who became aware and wanted out or was she one the the ones on the top of the hierarchy shown in the beginning of Calamity Trigger who were conducting experiments and sending data to them? And while we're on it, what's up with those phase numbers that are mentioned every once in a while? Is there yet any indication who the heck is in charge of the system controlling things from outside the boundary? My theory is that everything is a simulation and the boundary is a raw database full of "records"(mentioned in somebody's canon ending, I think) where none of the Sims are supposed to go. I hope it doesn't run on like Guilty Gear did with That Man and wherever he is.

Info from the Drama CD "The Wheel of Fortune"

Prologue: Church burning, Relius is chanting some poem. Terumi comes and throws unconscious Saya to Relius. Relius calls her important "Vessel". Relius asks about the other kid Terumi has because he's not needed. Terumi says that he's the one that wants Jin, since the power of order is useful. Relius asks about the Azure. Terumi gleefully says that he chopped off his hand when Ragna was spacing out. They need to leave because Rachel is coming. Terumi then tells Relius to make his body properly. Relius says that Terumi's vessel needs more time to finish. Terumi's parting word is for Ragna to work hard to be useful.

Note: Relius was basically describing Ragna's situation (Terumi called it a poem, but it's more like narration). Something about being attacked so sudden, being so helpless, the only thing left was anger. Blah Blah.

--------------

Part 2: Long Reunion

Basically what Zephyr said. It's about how Tsubaki reports the first time to Jin. She is very nervous and practices calling him "Major Kisaragi" outside the door. When she enters in, Jin asks what she's doing here. Jin doesn't know that she's coming because he doesn't read her assignment documents. Tsubaki pouts. Jin tells her to stop calling him Jin nii-sama in the office. She gets flustered and Jin smiles.

Relius comes to see Hazama and asks where that thing from Ikaruga. Hazama says that it's in the lab. Before Relius leaves, Hazama says that he has a request.

Note: Jin is very formal (read: cold) to Tsubaki.

--------------

Part 3: Friendly Daily

Tsubaki catches Jin, who is trying to skip a meeting. She reprimands him and he gives up. He says that he's going to come back in time for the meeting. He tells her not to eat to much sweets and leaves.

Makoto hugs her from behind. The two exchanges greetings and Makoto tells Tsubaki that she has chocolate on her cheek. Tsubaki gets very embarrassed, especially because earlier Jin spots her with it. She laments why he didn't tell her directly. Makoto says that him telling her indirectly is already more than what most people get. Tsubaki complains that he's very cold and secretive after the war. Makoto agrees that he's nicer before, but now he spaces out a lot. Tsubaki says that she doesn't expect him to return to what he was but she hopes to be able to make him a bit less cold.

Makoto invites her to eat chocolate parfait. It seems that Tsubaki really likes chocolate. They talks about the grim reaper. Tsubaki knows nothing about the grim reaper. Makoto cannot tell her more about that because it's still confidential, but the higher ups are scrambling for a counter measure. Tsubaki wants a world without war and believes that the peace is maintained by NOL, so attacking NOL equals attacking peace. Makoto agrees.

Hazama comes. He comes to the cafe for lunch because it has good boiled eggs or sth. He introduces himself to Tsubaki and snidely remarks that being a daughter of duodecim, she will soon be his superior. He asks Tsubaki if she is hanging there because Jin is pretty famous for being eccentric. He wonders if Jin is being nice to her because there is something between them. Tsubaki gets really angry. Hazama leaves after paying for Tsubaki and Makoto's bill, saying that there might not be another chance to do so. Before leaving, he tells Makoto to report to him after this.

Makoto rages about Hazama, saying that his fake smile annoys the heck out of her. Makoto really hates liars. And that he definitely enjoys insulting people despite being polite. Tsubaki tells her to turn her voice down when talking bad about her superior.

Hazama meets Relius and asks about a certain issue. Relius says, no problem. Relius is interested in Makoto, saying she makes a good ingredient for a Nox. Spirits about Noxes are more about quality than quantity. Strong spirits are the best. Relius says he learns this from Ada, her daughter.

-----------------

Part 4: Creeping Doom

Tsubaki is zipping around the office, looking for Jin. She bumps into Hazama, who seems to know where Jin left. Hazama asks why she’s so agitated this time, since Jin often disappeared in the past. He wonders if she has bad premonition. Tsubaki tells him that Jin has been very weird recently and that he has never left without telling her before. Hazama trolls Tsubaki long and hard. A short summary: Tsubaki is the type of person that feels empty if she is not needed. She uses her position as an excuse to “support” Jin because she desperately wants him to need her. But the problem is, Jin doesn’t need her and so he didn’t even stop to think about her before he left. Tsubaki almost cries hearing this. Satisfied, Hazama tells her that Jin left to Kagutsuchi. Tsubaki leaves.

Ragna is lost in the NOL’s Kagutsuchi branch. He looks out the window and notes that the moon is really unpleasant that night. He notices Relius lurking around. Relius remarks that Ragna is a good ingredient and asks if he’s capable of controlling the Azure now. Relius then does sth unpleasant to Ragna (not described what) and calls Ignis to test Ragna. Ragna is losing but he refuses to activate his BlazBlue. Relius gets disappointed and leaves.

Relius meets Hazama, who asks for his opinion of Ragna. Relius says that Ragna is a far cry from his expectation. Relius asks about the 13th unit. Hazama tells him the cocoon already opened and that she’s ready. Relius smiles and says that it’ll be interesting. Hazama is surprised to learn that Relius is capable of enjoying something. Relius comments that he is surprised himself.

Note: the rest of the CD is going to hammer down the point that Jin doesn't need Tsubaki. Tsubaki almost cries everytime that's mentioned.

-------------------------------

Part 5: Snake Venom

Tsubaki is rushing to the Kagutsuchi NOL branch. Makoto is chasing after her to make sure she doesn’t touch the gate. Makoto trips and falls, taking down Tsubaki with her just before Tsubaki touches the gate and burns herself into crisps. They don’t have the permission to get in, because it takes 1 week to apply for one. Tsubaki notes that the gate is already open and the protective magic has been removed. The branch looks empty. Tsubaki wonders if the branch employees were evacuated because the grim reaper is coming. Makoto doesn’t believe that because intelligence department is not informed. She tries to contact her department, but communication is jammed. Makoto wants to go back to the ship to ask for reinforcement. Tsubaki wants to go in and find Jin. Makoto tries to persuade her to wait until reinforcement comes, but Tsubaki is worried that Jin is already fighting the grim reaper. Makoto has a bad premonition, but she finally yields after Tsubaki promises to run away if the situation gets dangerous. They promise to eat dinner together (Makoto’s home made stew) after this. Makoto tells Tsubaki to invite Jin and then leaves.

Meanwhile, Jin is walking inside the branch when he notices that another moon is falling. If he doesn’t kill Ragna ASAP, everything is going mad. Tsubaki catches up with Jin, but he tells her very coldly to get lost because she is in the way. He then laughs creepily, saying that he will be the one to kill the grim reaper. Tsubaki tries to grab him, but he slaps her unconscious and leaves.

Note: Jin talks to Tsubaki in that cold and contemptuous tone he usually uses for Noel.

In her dream, Tsubaki sees 3 little kids playing happily, 2 boys and 1 blond girl. She recognizes one of the little boy as Jin. From afar, little Ragna tells the two to go back home. While walking towards Ragna, Jin compliments the flower crown made by Saya and asks if she is going to give it to Ragna. Saya gives the crown to Jin and says that she loves Jin nii-sama very much. Tsubaki freaks out and screams at Saya not to touch Jin.

Tsubaki wakes up with Hazama on her side. Hazama notices the cut on Tsubaki’s forehead and asks if someone thrusts her hard onto something. Tsubaki asks about Jin’s whereabout. Hazama tells her that Jin is heading to the lowest level with the grim reaper. While Tsubaki staggers towards the elevator, Hazama comments that she will be a mere obstacle. Examining Tsubaki’s reaction, he gleefully asks if Jin has told her directly that she will just get in the way. Tsubaki gets angry. Chuckling, Hazama tells her that if she hurries, even she might be of some use.

After a while, Hakumen and Relius arrive. Hakumen and Hazama exchange greetings. Hazama tells Hakumen that he goes by the name Hazama now, although he doesn’t really care how people call him. Relius agrees that names are pointless. Relius wonders if Hakumen escaped the boundary by his own will or if he had assistance. Hakumen provokes them into a fight. Relius refuses, but Hazama thinks that it’s a good time to “play” since Hakumen’s existence is still vague like a projection of a dream. They fight and Hazama is losing. Hazama asks Relius to help. Relius refuses at first because he dislikes physical labor, but he eventually summons Ignis to help. Hakumen asks about their objective. Relius tells him that their objective is to create the true Azure Grimoire. He also mentions on the side that Tsubaki is useless for that purpose. Hakumen is angry to find that they have been leading Tsubaki here, but before he can do anything, time-space interference drags him back to the boundary. Hazama sneers at how inconvenient to be someone bound to Master Unit. He then coughs blood and comments that he also overdoes it. Relius tells him that self-observation is limited and it’s his own fault to overdo it.

Note: Hakumen and Relius talk about Ada/Nirvana a bit in which Hakumen accuses Relius of sth, but I cannot catch what that sth is.

--------------------------

Part 6: Camellia

Tsubaki arrives at the lowest floor. Ragna and Jin are busy fighting, with Jin being nuts as usual. Ragna knocks Jin unconscious. Tsubaki runs up to Jin and tries to shield him. Ragna angrily tells Tsubaki to get lost or he’ll kill her. Tsubaki refuses to budge and desperately tries to drive him away by punching him. Ragna thinks that she’s ridiculously stupid for trying to attack him while being obviously frightened. But after a while, he pretty much loses his will to fight and his anger.

Jin wakes up and asks Tsubaki why she is still here (nicely this time). Tsubaki cries and tells him that there is no way she can leave him. Ragna feels awkward watching the two and asks about Tsubaki’s relationship with Jin.

The cauldron opens and Nu appears. She’s nuts about Ragna as usual. Jin initially thinks that she is Saya, but upon realizing that he’s wrong, he asks Ragna who Nu is. Ragna tells him to shut up. Tsubaki is really frightened about Nu and freaks out. Nu notices Tsubaki and instantly decides that she hates Tsubaki. She tries to attack Tsubaki but Ragna blocks her. Nu goes berserk out of jealousy and the two fight. Tsubaki is amazed by their prowess, while Jin is worried about Ragna. Ragna loses and Nu finally manages to land her hug.exe. She is blissful with all the blood Ragna is spilling.

Note: I’m not kidding, Nu asks for a hug over and over during the whole fight.

Jin tries to get up and help Ragna. Tsubaki refuses to let him go. Jin snaps and hits her away. He angrily tells her to get lost and that he doesn’t need her. He yells at Nu to release Ragna (he doesn’t seem to be able to get up or walk anymore). Nu attacks him, but Tsubaki shields him. Nu decides that Tsubaki is indeed annoying and stabs her over and over. While Nu is distracted with Tsubaki, Ragna stabs Nu from behind. Jin tries to heal Tsubaki with healing ars but the ars won’t activate and he panics. Tsubaki tells him that it’s fine. She is happy that he calls her by her first name after so long. She invites him to the dinner that she promises Makoto to invite him and then dies.

Nu watches over the drama intently. She tries to start a conversation with Ragna about it, but Ragna is already unconscious. She decides that it’s time to go. Jin goes berserk about Nu and chases after her. Nu doesn’t mind him, but declares that she will not hand over Ragna (very creepily in NOEL’S VOICE, not Nu’s voice). She then tells the unconscious Ragna that fate is unavoidable and jumps.

Hazama comes and kicks Tsubaki’s corpse. Even after all those dramas, she’s worthless after all. But for a trash, Tsubaki is easy to manipulate, so she is still alright. He leaves, musing that this may be a happier ending for Tsubaki and laughs maniacally.

---------------------

END

Nu's acting is cringe worthy at times.
