Pestilence Posted May 16, 2011 Posted May 16, 2011 yeah, i saw some of the air combos in one of the vids you linked...but my pc shut down/crashed for no good reason so i wasn't able to see the entire vid. those air combos don't get very high of the ground like in melty or guilty gear, but it looks fun regardless. i was just wondering if the game played like vanguard princess or not. seems like it doesn't play like either gg or vp. its its own creature, from what i see. wait until you play. it's so odd at first that there is no directional motions connected with special moves. its just 4+S, 6+S, etc
Axl_M4ster Posted May 16, 2011 Posted May 16, 2011 mmmm. i useta be really into dbz bud 3 and naruto ultimate ninja games, so i'm sorta use to special moves not having qcf/dp/half circle movements from those games. they had 4E, 6E=specials....so it won't feel so odd for me. its obvious the developers went in that direction since they were well aware of how sucky the xbox D-pad is. just impossible to do precise qcf movements with on a consistent basis. and since the game was developed first for console and didn't originate in arcades first like most fighters... there ya go. i also don't find it to be sooo slow looking...its probably all the clashing that makes it look slower.

Ren's story is that he's participating in the tournament to get a miracle cure for his sister, who is ill. Yet...something about the males in this game elude me: THEY ARE BEATING UP GIRLS. 11 girls compared to 3 guys. Do those guys really enjoy kicking girls' hides that much? P.S. This wasn't the only event either, they held similar events at a lot of stores across Japan and they're holding the FINAL event on 5/21 (Friday for you people in America), and i'm willing to bet we'll see a final gameplay trailer or something in the coming week. Secondly, they also updated the Limited Edition contents. No idea what the update was, I can't tell the difference. And if you missed it, gameplay videos are posted earlier. So then, time to start thinking DLC? Well, I can confirm the demo is no longer available on Xbox Live marketplace. I don't know why they pulled it, maybe it's because the game changed a lot since the demo, so the demo isn't a good representation of the game anymore? Or they just want you to pay to play it? Nope, in fact you're falling right into their plan, muhahahahaha another sucker tricked by cross promotions >:3c Also the game scores rather averagely in Famitsu: 5pb.'s 2D Xbox 360 fighter scored 7, 7, 6 and 7. Clearing arcade mode will take 30 minutes. Unlocking all hidden characters will take 8 hours. Reviewers complained that the story mode's conversation scenes were lacking, the character movement is stiff, and there's no tutorial mode. Tis a shame cause I was expecting something cool from the story...that'll teach me to care about a fighter's story :< (like I always do orz)

If you've seen the game's achievements you would note it seems like the characters are unlocked via the storymode. Now i'm not 100% sure of this, but if true, we're in for a long story. And "Some" of the scenes are lacking, doesn't mean all are. I could name some lacking scenes in blazblue or any major franchise myself. We'll see. EDIT: It's worth noting Famitsu rated Blazblue as a 7/7/8/8. That's only 3 points away from Phantom Breaker's review which honestly isn't that much. Now excuse me, I need to put my Rachel hipster glasses on. That magical girl seems like a regular zoner, and Cocoa is not as exciting as I expected her to be. Well, the game's not even released yet, so I may easily change my opinion on them.

However, it's being ported to the PSP so I might get that. Oh I'm off-topic uhhhh... The gameplay looked kinda cool but I dunno if I personally would like it. It was fun watching Asami Imai try it out.

Also I'm not gonna lie, the animations are kinda stiff...but at least it's been sped up a bit, and I like the way things clash. But until there's a PS3 port or at the very least someone translates the story I'm indifferent as a whole to the title = w=
