ElvenShadow Posted February 16, 2010 Author Posted February 16, 2010 thanks guys! JET is the JET program. Its basically a company that sets you up with a Japanese contracting organization so that you can teach English in Japanese schools. Basically its how I got my current job to put it simply. If you wanna know more just google search JET program and read about it. also I updated something. I couldnt remember those lyrics so I mailed Masami and heres the updated part Masami was also telling me funny stuff about how when Japanese people hear certain English songs they think it sounds like something else in Japanese. For example, in Kickstart My Heart by Motley Crue, the part where they say "Oh! Yea! Kickstart my heart, give it a start!" sounds like KINTAMA HARU HODO NEBATTA which means "somethings wrong with my balls." also the chorus of I Got The Time by Anthrax sounds like CHINCHIN CHIGIREMAHEN, which means "penis never split" or something like that, according to Masami. LOL!
Jam-Kiske Posted February 17, 2010 Posted February 17, 2010 Congrats on the marriage thing! Sounds like what you did was adorable~ I got an e-mail about the JET program despite there being no way I could qualify for that... being of my age and not knowing Japanese... it was silly.
vedasisme Posted February 17, 2010 Posted February 17, 2010 haha, that's adorable dude. Good luck with your plans, hopefully marriage is simply "cohabiting with benefits."
Hintalove Posted February 18, 2010 Posted February 18, 2010 Well, congrats on the engagement. Next step is to learn how to say you're engaged in Japanese Bummer for me, but my schedule is wicked at school this term and I dont think I'll be able to pony up the green for getting back to Japan before Fall, but I'll manage. Saddly, I think I'm getting addicted to snus now. Damnit

LOL! first of all, CONGRATZ. This type of news makes me very happy. I'm very bad for read all your posts in blogspot.com, but i'm always watching your photos from flirck. also, thanks for this post Elven. I'm interesed to know more about japanese culture for my country. but i need to change of "degree" (;_; mix communism with desing is NOT GOOD) Hey elven, do you know these japanese college/universities? Kobe University http://www.kobe-u.ac.jp/en/ Tsukuba University http://www.tsukuba.ac.jp/english/
ElvenShadow Posted February 18, 2010 Author Posted February 18, 2010 Matt, that sucks, just sell some crap you dont need or something lol. I feel you on the snus though, Ive been pretty good about cutting back since you left though, aside from weekends of course. Wendy, thanks! Ive heard of both of them but I dont know many details otherwise. I never went to a Japanese university since I already had my degree when I came to Japan so I never did much research on them, but I know lots of people who have attended various universities in Japan. I know some of them read this thread so maybe they can help you out. I have been near Tsukuba University though. Its in Ibaraki-ken and has been where some quals were at in the past. Never been to Kobe yet.
rtl42 Posted February 18, 2010 Posted February 18, 2010 Next step is to learn how to say you're engaged in Japanese 「結婚しちゃう」 ...just joking!
Killerwatt Posted February 18, 2010 Posted February 18, 2010 Congrats dude! That's wonderful news. Guess you won't have time for GG soon huh?
ElvenShadow Posted February 18, 2010 Author Posted February 18, 2010 lol I know the proper way is 婚約している Killerwatt, were not actually getting married for a couple more years. And besides, Ryoko is awsome. She knows what my hobbies are and is totally fine with them and would never want me to stop doing something I love. I wont be quitting fighting games lol
Nakkiel Posted February 19, 2010 Posted February 19, 2010 For example, in Kickstart My Heart by Motley Crue, the part where they say "Oh! Yea! Kickstart my heart, give it a start!" sounds like KINTAMA HARU HODO NEBATTA which means "somethings wrong with my balls." That's awesome rofl Congrats by the way! Ladies are nice
Digital Watches Posted February 19, 2010 Posted February 19, 2010 Man, I mostly just lurk this thread, but I gotta join the chorus re: congrats on your future hitching.
Wendy Posted February 19, 2010 Posted February 19, 2010 Wendy, thanks! It's ok some comments related with these colleges. for example: what is the main difference between Kobe with Tsukuba University? Here in my country, there are many differences. For example: Universidad de Chile: the most important "public" university. free thought and there are many degrees of quality. The main problem is their "communism students". there are a popular group called FECH (feredacion de estudiantes de chile), the main symbol of the communism in chilean students. But this way for do politics is very incoherent... Universidad Catolica de Chile (and other similar catholic university/college): Good educational institution (some degrees are better than in the UCHILE). But if you don't like the catholic religion, it's not your place. U. adolfo Ibañez: a private university not traditional very good in Santiago. But VERY EXPENSIVE (elite haters, here...NOT) Universidad San Sebastian: a college very important in some zones of south of Chile. Now, It's in Santiago. I don't like USS, because the same knowledge learned in 5 years, it's better in 2 years in U. de Chile or U. catolica. this type of details interesed me. also i'm interesed what type of degrees is better in each university. also, rumors related with Tsukuba & Kobe are ok (for example, level of corruption,LOL).
Killerwatt Posted February 19, 2010 Posted February 19, 2010 lol Killerwatt, were not actually getting married for a couple more years. And besides, Ryoko is awsome. She knows what my hobbies are and is totally fine with them and would never want me to stop doing something I love. I wont be quitting fighting games lol That's music to my ears. 'Cause I'd really have missed reading your blog if you'd have had to quit!
ElvenShadow Posted March 1, 2010 Author Posted March 1, 2010 blog updated... I cant believe I missed all the Guilty Gear G3 ranbats... Did anyone here actually know they were going on? Im kicking myself so hard for missing this shit...
Raviloli Posted March 1, 2010 Posted March 1, 2010 I look forward to like 14 hours straight of watching people do random safe uppercuts with you next week, Mike.
ElvenShadow Posted March 2, 2010 Author Posted March 2, 2010 so on my blog poll, several people have already voted that they knew about G3. Was there a thread on here for it that I completely missed? Where did you find out about it from? It would be good to know for future reference because I really dont want to miss any more tournaments.
axel Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 http://dustloop.com/forums/showthread.php?t=8032 Yeah this thread got buried due to lack of interest. If you do watch the weekly Mikado ranbat match vids uploaded to NicoVideo like this, the link to Jonio Cup is always included in the video description.
ElvenShadow Posted March 3, 2010 Author Posted March 3, 2010 Thanks Axel. Ugh just bad timing on my part. I checked that thread and even POSTED in it... but I just stopped looking at it cuz it was BB only and I sorta dont care about BB. And the worst part is, the guy who posted the link to the Johnny-o cup posted it THE NEXT DAY after I posted and figured the thread was of no interest to me. Just bad timing.... Anyway, I have no one to blame but myself I suppose. In the future, if anyone knows about any Japanese GG tournaments that arnt listed in Arcadia, could you do me a favor and please just post about it here in this thread? It would be a big help to me, and I of course would write a detailed report about the event after playing in it.
Fenrir Werwolf Posted March 5, 2010 Posted March 5, 2010 To all who's asking for japanese university: i found this list when I had to choose mine, in the case i pass the monbusho exam. i don't know if the courses is for everyone, but it seems useful since gives information on every university (not all, only the one linked with this exam) and useful link. Hope this will help ^_^ http://www.mext.go.jp/a_menu/koutou/ryugaku/boshu/1288200.htm
shezmu Posted March 8, 2010 Posted March 8, 2010 Didn't read the thread (118 pages... yeah) but I wanted to know straight from someone who would very likely be in a position to know 'bout this. ElvenShadow, if you played american AC console, have you ever noticed a speed increase relative to the Arcade version?
