zer0kage Posted April 8, 2008 Posted April 8, 2008 Hey will you be giving Sengoku Basara X a go in a few days?
ElvenShadow Posted April 8, 2008 Author Posted April 8, 2008 Well this weekend theres 2 SBO quals so I dont know if I will really have time, but if they have it at the arcades im at and theres not like a 234334 minute wait to play it ill give it a try. Matt, I will post info for the qualifiers this weekend soon or I will send you an email on your keitai
ElvenShadow Posted April 9, 2008 Author Posted April 9, 2008 btw, I just checked a-cho website and the full brackets and results for the tournament I played in are up. Theres no vids from the tournament yet but they will probly be up soon. I have no idea if any of my matches will be online or not. When I played RF I think it was on the cabinet that they werent taping but I dont know, they might have been taping off more than one
ElvenShadow Posted April 9, 2008 Author Posted April 9, 2008 pictures are up. at least all of the ones from my camera are up. I still have more that I took with my cellphone that I will try to upload tomorrow. Link is on the blog, enjoy
NewTestament Posted April 9, 2008 Posted April 9, 2008 Shit was long as fuck! Lmao, all I can see is green text outlined on the screen right now haha. Good stuff, ElvenShadow. Lmao @ the drunk guy naked in the street story. This may seem like a weird/dumb question, but do they bury the people vertically in those cemeteries? I would think they'd have to, there's just so many fucking graves there X_X.
ElvenShadow Posted April 9, 2008 Author Posted April 9, 2008 from what I understand they pretty much cremate the bodies and then the bones are placed in a jar along with the remains
Cadenza Posted April 10, 2008 Posted April 10, 2008 Awesome read. Good luck with the whole teaming issue, seems like things are looking up though.
doragonkoroshi Posted April 10, 2008 Posted April 10, 2008 best english teaching tool ever? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Iof5bzvApFA
ElvenShadow Posted April 10, 2008 Author Posted April 10, 2008 I would love it if we could have a class where I ran an english of the dead tournament but I doubt they would let me and we probably wouldnt have enough DSs
ElvenShadow Posted April 14, 2008 Author Posted April 14, 2008 blog updated again today http://elvenshadowmike.blogspot.com/ went to 2 SBO qual tournaments. Please post feedback
Mr. Mamation Posted April 14, 2008 Posted April 14, 2008 damn man, fucked up. If only we could mail your chicogo freinds down there lol I really want to go to sbo for guilty and HNK but I still have another year before I graudate I hope everything works out dude, I was really looking forward to seeing you and Domi team up.
Shazay Posted April 14, 2008 Posted April 14, 2008 Lol apparently Japanese people don't like saying no. So yea... what should I do? Any advice on what course of action to take for next weekend would be much apreciated. Other then the two next week how many qualifiers are left? Maybe you should just focus on finding stable team mates.
BioLogIn Posted April 14, 2008 Posted April 14, 2008 I _always_ wondered why in the hell Japanese teams change every freaking year. Now I understand this a little better thanks to your blog \\ From your posts, your 'teammates' look quite uncool (( Maybe there is some kind of Japanese forums\boards where they settle about teams? So you'll be able to talk this out BEFORE the event. Other then that, I guess you'll have to qualify with 'leftovers' team, which means lower competition in Niigata will be handy. So if qualifying is important for you, I guess 'wasting' 1 weekend (or one day?) in Niigata is fine. IMHO. Anyway, another thanks for your blogging, that is very interesting reading. And good luck to you whichever path will you take )
ElvenShadow Posted April 14, 2008 Author Posted April 14, 2008 there are lots of quals left, they only started 2 weeks ago. see the way it works is, theres only 26 spots for the Japanese, the rest are for foreigners and last chance quals the day of the SBO finals. For each spot there are like 3 or 4 preliminary quals, and from what I understand, if you win one of those you are seeded to be in the semi finals or some sorta round robin type thing for the finals for that spot. so next weekend theres one more regular prelim for both the niigata and tokyo ones which are seperate sections and then the respective finals spot for each one will be on sunday of next weekend. im almost certain that most of these people have somewhere online that they often post up this sorta stuff for finding teams or most of them probably have eachothers emails. since I dont know where they do this and since my kanji reading skills are shit I really cant take advantage of such a resource, so my only option is asking around in person or asking the few people that I actually have teamed up with before in the past. other than that all I can do is show up and team with the other leftovers and hope theres still room left in the tourny
axel Posted April 14, 2008 Posted April 14, 2008 You mean this year there are actually 4 foreigner spots for GGXX:AC?
ElvenShadow Posted April 14, 2008 Author Posted April 14, 2008 well theres the US spot, and I know that hong kong or china get a spot right? and then theres 2 last chances I think right? so I dunno what the other 2 are for, but arcadia only has 26 spots listed for qualifying through regular tournaments in Japan. perhaps there are spots that are given away to people who won last year or something sorta like how DF2 allowed all 3 of the players on last years winning SBO team to have a team of their own for free
Caer-caveral Posted April 14, 2008 Posted April 14, 2008 As far as I know, Europe is getting a spot as well.
Epic Posted April 15, 2008 Posted April 15, 2008 Yeah I heard the same thing. The qualifier is supposed to take place this summer in France.
ElvenShadow Posted April 15, 2008 Author Posted April 15, 2008 wow so it seems I made a mistake all along there is no qualifier in Niigata this weekend, the Niigata one isnt until June lol! also... for Tokyo theres only the finals left on Saturday so it seems I will ACTUALLY be going to Chiba because there is one more prelim on saturday and then the quals on sunday if for whatever reason I actually win this I will have to face FAB/OsakaB/Nakamura but thats just getting ahead of myself... first I need a team hah...
Darkhonor90 Posted April 15, 2008 Posted April 15, 2008 if for whatever reason I actually win this I will have to face FAB/OsakaB/Nakamura GGPO <3
BioLogIn Posted April 15, 2008 Posted April 15, 2008 ElvenShadow But in worst case scenario you can always participate as one-man-team, right? I remember some 2-man teams on japanese tournaments from before.
