鋼 (Hagane) の (no) 錬金術師 (Renkinjutsushi).

Hagane means "steel", no is a possesive marker ("X no Y" means "X's Y" or "Y of X"), and Renkinjutsushi means "alchemist".

However, no can also sometimes be used as a modifier to turn a noun into an adjectival noun (a noun that is used like an adjective, aka noun adjunct). The meaning is basically the same as when it's used as a possessive, but there's a very slight linguistic difference, like "Alchemist of Steel" versus "Steel Alchemist".

Mustang is basically taking the "Hagane no" from "Hagane no Renkinjutsushi" and turning it into "Haganeno." Which is like taking the "of Stink" from "Alchemist of Stink" and turning it into "Stinky", but in this case isn't insulting, since "Fullmetal" is actually a cool nickname.

Oh, and just a note, as far as we know Platinum the Trinity isn't "Trinity" nor is she the Platinum Alchemist. Platinum's a trinity of three personalities (or spirits), which includes Trinity Glasfille, the Platinum Alchemist. The exact makeup / origins of Platinum the Trinity are still a mystery.

白金 can also be read as Shirogane, which is similar sounding to Hagane (Steel).

So Phase 0 is a prequel. And Phase 1 is a prequel of that prequel.

Any word on how many Phases they're going to go back?

Ragna is Bloodedge, I just hope they don't pull an "Order Ragna" on our ass. If I had to guess, it's probably Lord Tenjo's (sp?) son. We've heard of him yet we've never seen him.

Hakumen is Jin's soul trapped inside the Susano'o unit, Bloodedge is crippled Ragna with his right sleeve off.

Bloodedge exists several hundred years before the setting of the games and dies defeating the Black Beast, the only thing he ever does, which is also a situation that no longer occurs since the timeloops have stopped. If he becomes a playable character BlazBlue has officially jumped the shark.

Ragna/Bloodedge thing is like who came first, Chicken/Egg.

While Ragna origins remain unclear or how Bloodedge exactly "got killed", I could say Ragna is Bloodedge reborn or "Bloodedge's spawn", since the Black Beast probably absorbed him and much later became the false Grimoire.

However, Its also unclear how the other half ended up on Nu, because the BlackB/Grimoire was buried in the church.

My boyfriend said he thinks she'll be a trap-based character, as "BlazBlue hasn't had one yet", or something akin.

I have no idea how she'd play, but I'm looking forward to it if she does 8D She's got a lo of possibilities for awesome attacks, being both really smart in Science and being able to use magic.

i'd add nine to that list, sadly. i'd love her, but honestly... ALL SIX heroes are all suddenly able to not age after many years, yet alone die? yeaaaa... somethings wrong here.

Not suddenly, most of them have a reason as to why they haven't aged and some of them have aged. Jubei and Valkenhayn seem to be the ones that aged. Trinity is currently stuck in a kid's body and I'm curious to know what happened to her original body and how she ended up in Platinum's body. Hakumen is Jin's soul possessing a suit of armor. Hazama is a ghost that goes around possessing shit and is currently inhabiting an artificial body. I'll give Nine the fact that she's a witch, so maybe her magical powers have helped slow down the aging process. I will lol so hard if Nine is actually an old lady the day Phantom gets exposed.

@Takoto - Yup, it's all speculation and theory at this point, although we do have some characters that have some sort of trap-like attacks (Rachel with Sword Iris/Mu and her exploding Steins).
