ZenTzen Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 heres a basic max cancel combo for both dlc characters http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7clU2ig2cVU http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q3coqacOqnc
Xechs Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 Though I approve of rekka kyo, Mr. Karate is so meh. Just a throw out for fanservice. Chances are the whole "8+ characters never shown in KOF" that SNK spoke of is bullshit as well. SNK-P didn't say that, it was Rising Star Games when the game was announced for PAL territory, "5 characters never seen in KOF before" but it was deleted later.
Rampage Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 stay jealous of awesome characters like rekka kyo and angel Angel is in this? This changes everything.
Vulcan422 Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 How many times does Yamamoto have to say that Geese is 100% not going to be in XIII before people believe him? I admit it: I just want somebody with a Reppuken. Adel will suffice.

Mightfo Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 Angel is in this? This changes everything. no, sadly
BlueSky Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 At first I thought he was just regular Kyo with rekkas, but NESTS Kyo looks a lot more interesting than I thought he would be.

SolxBaiken Posted November 22, 2011 Posted November 22, 2011 SRK...doing a KOF guide? MADNESS! More like why? Oh well... some character trials: [Shen Woo|Duo Lon|Elizabeth|EX Iori|EX Kyo]
Chris Chaos Posted November 22, 2011 Posted November 22, 2011 http://shoryuken.com/2011/11/21/srks-kof-xiii-guide-uses-hitbox-information-to-explain-tactics/ I never thought I'd see the day... *Mind Blown*
Koozebanian Fazoob Posted November 22, 2011 Posted November 22, 2011 At first I thought he was just regular Kyo with rekkas, but NESTS Kyo looks a lot more interesting than I thought he would be. Yeah, all three of the EX characters are very different from their normal version. I was a little wary of Mr. Karate but they managed to make him pretty unique too, a bit like 2k2 and a little Marco thrown in for fun.
qwerty Posted November 22, 2011 Posted November 22, 2011 SRK...doing a KOF guide? MADNESS! There's actually some good KOF players working on it, so it may very well be the best English guide available when it's all said and done.
Vulcan422 Posted November 22, 2011 Posted November 22, 2011 Looks like someone has already ripped the music from the game. For safety's sake I won't post a link until an OK or not OK is given. What I will do is give a preview of what's inside. -Console OST has a bunch of new, possibly story-related, shit. -An extended version of the original, more gdlk Arcade intro is in there. -As the limited edition CD has already spoiled, the following songs are in the game or will be DLC: Soul Town '96 Arrange Version, Esaka?, Pure ~of good old days~, Arashi no Saxophone, joker, Queen, Street Dancer, Smell of gunpowder, I'm Hot For You, After a long absence, and KDD-0075, all Arranged versions from the PS2 version of XI. -DLC Iori, Kyo, and Mr. Karate get Original and Arranged versions of their themes. Iori's is Arashi no Saxophone 2 from '96, Kyo's is Goodbye Esaka from 2000, and Mr. Karate's is Takuma's theme from Art of Fighting 2. -Billy gets 2 themes - London March and Geese ni Katakori. -There's a slower, more dramatic arrangement of Boss Saiki's theme, Fate. Don't know what it's for but it might be Ash vs. Saiki or Story Mode related.
Rampage Posted November 22, 2011 Posted November 22, 2011 (edited) no, sadly Why you do this to me man?:8/: Billy gets 2 themes - London March and Geese ni Katakori. That's just wrong for them to do that. Edited November 22, 2011 by Rampage
WolfCrimson Posted November 22, 2011 Posted November 22, 2011 EX kyo is very similar to KOFXI Kyo, correct?
SolxBaiken Posted November 22, 2011 Posted November 22, 2011 EX kyo is very similar to KOFXI Kyo, correct? Hmm, he's alot closer to his NEST saga incarnation (99-02), like for example he can't throw his fireballs (which still confuses me as to why they brought that back in the Ash saga...)
omegaryuji Posted November 22, 2011 Posted November 22, 2011 EX kyo is very similar to KOFXI Kyo, correct? He seems mostly like 97/98 Kyo to me, just missing the qcb+P counter.
Mightfo Posted November 23, 2011 Posted November 23, 2011 LMAOOO YES ASH/SAIKI'S J.HP CAN STILL CROSSUP ARMPIT CROSSUP BROS
Kyosuke Kagami Posted November 23, 2011 Posted November 23, 2011 DLC Kyo (I'll call him "Cholo" Kyo from now on ) plays a lot more similar to his 98 incarnation minus 214P and adding some of the lol followups from 2001. If he were the NESTS version he'd have those 63214K fire punches from 2000. His Neomax looks like 2000's 236236P DM... with steroids. Fuck Karate.
Vulcan422 Posted November 23, 2011 Posted November 23, 2011 Got it today. Some more info. -Billy, Saiki, and Ash are secret mid-bosses. There are achievements for fighting them. You fight Billy by completing less than 5 Target Actions per round by the end of the 3rd match, and you fight Saiki by completing more than 5 Target Actions per round by the end of the 3rd match. No idea how to fight Ash. He just appeared out of nowhere. -You unlock new custom colors by using a character 10 times. After using a character 10 times you unlock a new row of colors, for a maximum of 40 times of usage for 4 rows. It's pretty bitchy and dumb, but all you have to do is go into Vs. CPU, select the characters (or character if doing 1v1) you want, and win a match, then restart. It will take hours to do but it's worth it. -In the sound options there is an option to use Type A and B versions of the soundtrack. Type A is XIII songs, and Type B returns all the character themes to their XI versions (except for Kim who gets the overused as shit arrangement of Soul Road from '96, which I hate). Billy gets Geese ni Katakori as his theme, and Saiki gets a slow, non-boss like arrangement of EX Saiki's theme, Fate. -Gameplay feels a lot like 2002UM, but smoother. There's also a heavy emphasis on canceling. -Online is good, but not great. There is noticeable input delay everywhere, so forget every combo you've ever learned except basic special cancels because you absolutely will not be able to do them online.

Starlight777 Posted November 23, 2011 Posted November 23, 2011 Wow I just got this game and I gotta say that I fell in love with the difficulty I am having. It actually makes me feel good for learning something. I still suck like crazy at this though. :P So did anyone make some interesting palettes? I made a Remy colored Saiki.
Vulcan422 Posted November 23, 2011 Posted November 23, 2011 (edited) After playing it for about a couple hours now I have to say this. While the game feels much better and what XII should've been, I still feel that it's missing something. Some reasons: -It's just not KOF without 40+ characters. -Story mode feels really tacked on and is just an extended Arcade mode. -The gameplay feels too heavily reliant on cancels. -DLC characters already look way better than their current counterparts, why not just make them unlocks instead of on-disc? Regular Iori is trash, and Kyo feels too scrubby, like a substitute Classic Iori but dumber. And Mr. Karate is just a superior Takuma. -Online could've been SO MUCH BETTER. This definitely does not seem like a game I'll be playing often. Or ever when it does die. Once again, SNK fails at presentation. EDIT: Also fuck EX Saiki and EX Ash at the end. Both are fireball-spamming assholes who also feel like a lazy attempt at a classic SNK Boss. Fireball spam is the only thing notable about them, otherwise they just don't compare to Magaki and Goenitz. Edited November 23, 2011 by Vulcan422
