moofpie Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 Amaterasu's X-Factor bonuses suck compared to everyone else's, lol.
Sophisticat Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 ^ They are entirely appropriate to balance the character. Remember, her lv1 hyper hits anywhere on screen and she has plenty of other goodies to make her a threat. Pure dmg increase is more than enough, imo.
Niko Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 My apologies if this was answered in the thread already. I'm on the fence about buying this game, mostly because I don't want to watch my life seep away due to investing an ungodly amount of hours into another fighting game. Hence my question: how hard is it to pick up MvC3 and play it at a decent level, compared to BBCS?
natearistata Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 Guess it depends on your definition of decent, but for me, maybe 2-3 hours per character on average. Less if you pick one of the easier characters and stick with the simplest things (Dante, Sentinel, etc.) edit: To be a bit more specific, I figured out Sentinel's main BnB combo on the fly in arcade mode and didn't screw it up once after maybe 2 minutes lol.
SolxBaiken Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 Ugh tonight MvC sits on the intersection of Lag Ave and DC Blvd :< All the matches I had were terrible and I lost to people and tactics I shouldn't have. Oh well.
the_d3v Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 (edited) Amaterasu's X-Factor bonuses suck compared to everyone else's, lol. Based on how good and versatile she is, I'd say it's about fair. Back her up with Sent's drones and you've got a mini Clockw0rk going on. Edited February 23, 2011 by the_d3v

Hence my question: how hard is it to pick up MvC3 and play it at a decent level, compared to BBCS? Do you mean execution wise or just overall? Overall, it's actually pretty difficult. It's really rock-paper-scissors in this game. The damage is ridiculous and every character is capable of killing off any character REALLY fast, often in just one combo too. The difficulty comes from this in my opinion. You have to have a decent defensive game and good footsies to to avoid taking that fatal combo. Theres also team cohesion, and picking out which assists benefit your point character the most, but also suits your style of play. If you're talking execution? Lol. What execution? Just press buttons. I find that even some of the "advanced" combos in this game are practically BnB level easy compared to the advanced combos in BBCS. It's just as well though, seeing as it makes it much easier to learn more than one character. Learning how to use the other characters in your team outside of just using them as assists is pretty important too, so if you lose your point character you can still hold your own. NumeroGaijin Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 netcode actually works for me. I played ppl in Europe, Australia, Japan, and other places with very little to no lag at all. I bet when this so called fix happens it will break my online experience and make the game go back to how street fighter 4 and ssf4 are.
Effenhoog Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 So basically Hulk and Iron Man are the go-to anchors. :O Not necessarily. Some (many?) characters can still flat out kill someone in one BnB combo even if their damage multiplier isn't as high. Doctor Doom is an example of this, his multiplier is only 190 but in level 3 xfactor his bnb combo does over 1,400,000 damage which is more than enough to kill even sentinel. And even with x-factor hulk isn't always that great as an anchor because he can be pretty easy to keep out when he doesn't have assists to help him. If the other player still has solid keepaway capabilities with their remaining character(s) there might not be a whole lot hulk can do besides sit on the other side of the screen and throw gamma wave tantrums based on the tournament at eight on the break yesterday it looks like sentinel/doom/dormammu is a pretty hilariously stupid team, i would try it myself but I don't really like playing as sentinel
SolxBaiken Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 If anything you should be considering it's your speed multiplier, NOT your power. Then again I don't think you should be considering adding/removing someone from your team based on their X-Factor stats... Then again I suck at this game
Xtra_Zero Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 Zero is so stupidly fast with Lv3 X-Factor. Crossup shenanigans are a breeze.
C0R Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 Was cheesing around in the lab and landed a 3m damage combo with Dorm on the fly, rather hilarious. In other news I'm surprised at how technical Felicia is, considering picking her up.
Starlight777 Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 So this is where all of Mahvel 2 shenanigans went. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=2Uv7Pr915QA
InspectorOda Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 Just realized you can do double jump impossible dusts in this game with the launcher button. Dunno if it serves any point though. Sentinel jS > 5S > Double Jump > jS > OTG Assist > 5S > jBB > jC > jS > 236A > 214 Super > 236 Super already breaks 900k though.
Hawkingbird Posted February 24, 2011 Posted February 24, 2011 If anything you should be considering it's your speed multiplier, NOT your power. Afrikaan Posted February 24, 2011 Posted February 24, 2011 Your wins outweigh your losses so it's not that bad. He's probably better than me and I've got an 86% win rate through 350 matches. I'm just super good at abusing Drones assist tbqh :p.
SolxBaiken Posted February 24, 2011 Posted February 24, 2011 (edited) He's probably better than me ; A; I'm not that great because I pretty much have a 50% win ratio and my pentagon looks like a big version of the standard pentagon, I'm such a boring fighter... Also people need to realize air combos are A-MAZE-ING in this game, you just have to be random with you switches since there's no clear distinction of which direction you'll go your opponent pretty much has a 1/4 chance of escaping. Counter damage is minimal and it's neigh impossible to punish off a counter anyways. I do air combos all day long :3 Also I think I'm the only Phoenix who's not afraid to play with her = w= Everyone else waits until they get maximum and even then they just stay back and spam projectiles, I haven't seen too many use those awesome teleports of hers and I've killed so many DPM Phoenixes it's not even funny >.> Since Phoenix is the last character and ends my air combos I usually throw out a few Phoenix Infernos Rages and teleport mixes before tagging her out. And I think I'm going to change Morrigan's assist as air combos are a WAY better way of building meter than relying on Dark Harmonizer (although it is nice to have still...) Hecatom Posted February 24, 2011 Author Posted February 24, 2011 (edited) so aparently i wouldnt have my copy of mvc3 until the next week She's ... fixed Edited February 24, 2011 by Hecatom

Technically isn't it 1/3rd? Cause I thought you could escape forward/backwards switches with either one. Forward can be escaped with backwards and vice versa. Up and down I know are separate though... Could be wrong. I suck at this game. :3
McArthur Posted February 24, 2011 Posted February 24, 2011 just a quick question, is there a way to set the BGM on the menu and char select screen to the classic "take you for a ride" always?
TyrantRevolver Posted February 24, 2011 Posted February 24, 2011 thanx man lol, it seems that i was the only fucker who voted for Sieg Wahrheit and Victor Delacroix from Chaos Legion also seeing so low love for Date makes me a mad gorilla Nope, I did too - you weren't alone. Sieg Wahrheit....that would be like my dream character especially if you could set up legions with him for added pressure. Futile as voting for Adam Warlock or Wraith for Marvel. Cool or not, everyone picks the characters that shows their faces the most and no one who would actually be new or interesting to play.
Hecatom Posted February 24, 2011 Author Posted February 24, 2011 what irritates me more is that some fuckers voted for the lame ass ken, who the fuck wants another fucking shoto
Mightfo Posted February 24, 2011 Posted February 24, 2011 what irritates me more is that some fuckers voted for the lame ass ken, who the fuck wants another fucking shoto people who have no real conception of airdashers/marvel itself and are just interested because they're capcom fanboys
