Blackgenma Posted October 30, 2009 Posted October 30, 2009 Plans on Hamuleen, Sunday's being spent packing and readiness. wait what? are you going to be free tomorrow? on friday?
Ayumu Gardevoir Posted October 30, 2009 Posted October 30, 2009 Oh Friday sure, after 7PM Mountain time :V
Blackgenma Posted October 30, 2009 Posted October 30, 2009 Oh Friday sure, after 7PM Mountain time :V crap! what time is it now for you? I need some calculation material! just look at the time and post what you see so I can coordinate what that means for the both of us. it's 11:48 eastern time as of posting this for me.
Blackgenma Posted October 30, 2009 Posted October 30, 2009 two hour time lag!...holyshit, that's gonna be late for me. OH WELL! see you at 9 pm eastern time!
Ayumu Gardevoir Posted October 30, 2009 Posted October 30, 2009 I'll try to be home before then :O add me on xbl and you'll know when I get home.
Xithmos Posted October 30, 2009 Posted October 30, 2009 When you say Friday, do you mean Friday, October 30th, 2009? If so, I won't be on until around 9:00 p.m. central standard time, gotta play in a band. 0: How about a few warm-up games today, and the tournament tomorrow? Ayumu, I still don't understand your status... <_<;
Blackgenma Posted October 31, 2009 Posted October 31, 2009 ayumu, I assume something came up? I just played some japanese instead, it's very demoralizing have them rip me to bits. lack of practice really screws you over in this game. I'm good enough to fight the japanses in master fights and not get destroyed, but they take over the map so well, they are much better than I am when it comes to managing their servants and such. after that series of beatings, a tournement is the last thing on my mind.
Xithmos Posted October 31, 2009 Posted October 31, 2009 What's your gamertag Blackgemna? Maybe I can help you practice.
Ayumu Gardevoir Posted November 1, 2009 Posted November 1, 2009 ayumu, I assume something came up? Yeah, I volunteered at a Haunted House for the club I'm in at my school and the set-up took longer than expected.
Blackgenma Posted November 1, 2009 Posted November 1, 2009 What's your gamertag Blackgemna? Maybe I can help you practice. wow, did you forget it already? it's my friend's account ol boundary lo that I use on weekends. in case you looked over it when I said it, I'm Tobal360 from gamefaqs. I was actually thinking about asking you to play with me saturday, but I saw you playing halo wars and decided to leave you alone. if you'd like, I can send you a friend request during the upcomming weekend, and we can practice than.
Xithmos Posted November 1, 2009 Posted November 1, 2009 I wouldn't have minded if you sent me a message while I was playing. I think I'll be free this Friday and Saturday and I'll be able to record a few matches as well if you want.
Blackgenma Posted November 2, 2009 Posted November 2, 2009 Sure Xithmos, sounds cool. record away. I found out something...interesting about one of Sol's free mode attacks. in the free mode combo: x, y, y, y*,y. the 3rd y, the one with the *, it dizzies whatever it hits, if the move lands without the previous attacks landing. it dizzies masters and servants alike, but only if the earlier moves in the combo don't hit. this can be a potentially useful crowd control tool, all dizzied parties receive a free power attack from Sol.
PandaKingEX Posted November 2, 2009 Posted November 2, 2009 Sol's free attack has some uses. After dizzying a master, if you have full tension you can space yourself and use your overdrive, so that the first hit whiffs, and the second hit lands, which is about 300 damage they can't burst out of. Otherwise you can just use a power attack, or whatever. Dizzy scales damage like crazy, though, so you don't have a lot of good options off of it. Also, this needs testing, but I believe some parts of Sol's free attacks have super armor, which can make them good for countering. On a side note. I might be back soon, but don't get too hopeful, since I know I've said that before. Things have just been hectic lately with school and work, and I'm barely in my house long enough to sit down and play a console game, but things should start to calm down within the next month, so I should be able to get back to playing this.
Blackgenma Posted November 2, 2009 Posted November 2, 2009 what? your saying you knew about the Dizzy hit all along? bastard. I'll test out what moves have super armor on Sol's free combos, but I really don't know which would have super armor or not. I know that Sol's power attack has super armor, thats it. heres a list of all the free combos that Sol has that I know of. x, x, x, x x, x, x, y x, y, y, x x, y, y, y, y x, x, y, y, y 8x. If you come back, it would be awesome Panda. looking forward to it. EDIT: oh, does anybody have some advice for dealing with an opponent who uses Quadro Baliff as a body guard? the only thing I can come up with is hitting the guy with a mouth zipper as soon as possible, because other wise, I get my ass kicked by that stupid thing. it's such an underrated unit, it does so much damage when your not focusing on it. and question #2, what is it that makes Sol players use red queen so often? I suck at making that unit effective, she only seems good to take out armors, other wise she doesn't do that much damage. you can't even pick the stupid thing up. I don't recall Kimera cryin use the unit too much when he plays sol, the last game I had, I was very disappointed with it's performance. uh, and last question. the reason Dr. Paradigm's Bone Biter takes forever to kill is because it lowers your attack right? wouldn't a dispel make it much easier to kill? (assuming you don't resort to an anti armor rod)
NeoVid Posted November 2, 2009 Posted November 2, 2009 Bonebiter is insanely hard to kill since it makes you deal less damage and heals itself by sacrificing nearby Geroppas and Bowers. Not sure about whether a dispel would make any difference.
PandaKingEX Posted November 2, 2009 Posted November 2, 2009 The dizzy hit is useless anyways. Your chances of actually hitting someone with it are next to none. Quadra Baliff is pretty dangerous, and it's pretty much impossible to fight in a normal fashion around it. The best thing to do is knock it away, or even just try to kill it real quick with a fast powerful combo, otherwise throw a bomb at it to knock it down, or what may be the most practical method is to just simply retreat. One thing about it is that it has to "reload" after shooting, which gives you a good amount of time to do whatever you need to do, so go into training, and watch it's attack patterns to see when it leaves openings. It's the first elite I unlock with Ky and Sin, and I carry it with me everywhere. It's perfect for protection, or for master hunting. If you're opponent doesn't have the means to protect their master ghost, you can easily use it for a sneak attack. The queen is great, because of it's speed and ability to capture ghosts quickly, and even though it has little health, it's still somewhat of a pain to kill. Early in the fight when servants are spread thin, you can easily send the queen down all kinds of paths to quickly capture and defeat weaker servants. This means you don't even have to bother with fully depleting the servants health. You can just drop them down to around 20% of their health and let the queen clean up for you. You can also follow the queen and quickly take control of several ghosts in a short amount of time, since you don't have to waste time picking it up and dropping it, and it captures at a faster rate then other units. It's also good for stalling. It can keep your opponents servants from progressing, and it's a cheap spammable unit, so you can keep a path blocked off for a while with it. The thing is that you have to get this unit out at the beginning of the fight. Once your opponent has stronger servants on the field, it starts to become useless unless it's fighting something it's strong against, or keeping a master busy. Later in the fight it's best used as a watchdog. Place it somewhere important so that you can keep tabs on what's going on around the area, or if you need aid quickly within your area, you can summon it, and it will be able to get to you quickly. The queen is a tough unit to use effectively, and I honestly don't use it that often myself, since it doesn't really fit into my playstyle. As for the Bonebiter. Anti armor rods, or 50% dragon install crush this unit. I'm not sure about dispel and all that, but one thing that really hurts you against bonebiter is damage scaling. Bonebiter can't be knocked over, so the only way to reset damage scaling against is to wait a set period of time in between attacks. If you keep attacking it in quick succession, your damage starts getting scaled to the point where you're doing practically nothing to it.
Xithmos Posted November 2, 2009 Posted November 2, 2009 I'm pretty sure Sol's X, Y has super armor. I've done it to a few people by accident when going for his 2X launcher combo. It worked through a burst.
Blackgenma Posted November 2, 2009 Posted November 2, 2009 The dizzy hit is useless anyways. Your chances of actually hitting someone with it are next to none. yeah, but it has uses for servant slaying. should make fighting crowds of armors easier, though I haven't exactly done extensive testing on the thing. thanks for sharing that information panda, I had no Idea damage scaling was applied to the dragon when going bananas on it. hunchback owns the unit too, but I find myself reluctant to use hunchback against paradigm, since good players usually refrain from using Paradigm's rollers. maybe I should try using it more often though, it owns the dragon hardcore, you should test it out when you have the chance. I'm pretty sure Sol's X, Y has super armor. I've done it to a few people by accident when going for his 2X launcher combo. It worked through a burst. yeah, according to panda, the punches of the free combos have super armor. exact quote from gamefaqs. "Well from what I know Sol can go through burst with volcanic Viper, and lock off x,x,y. Ky can go through it with Vapor Thrust, and lock off forward+x." I'm assuming that both punches of the x, y, y, combo have super armor. and of coarse, as I mentioned before, I'm pretty sure Sol's power attack has super armor. Bonebiter is insanely hard to kill since it makes you deal less damage and heals itself by sacrificing nearby Geroppas and Bowers. Not sure about whether a dispel would make any difference. you see there? what mechanism does it use in order for it to lower your damage? I haven't noticed a status effect on myself when fighting it, but I admit I never look to see if I have a status effect on myself when fighting it. if it placed a status effect on you to lower your damage out put, than a dispel would make it easier to do damage, since it would rid you of the status effect. thats why I suggested dispel. I should test it out myself when I have the chance, because not every one has dragon install to kick it's ass. Edit: I found out something interesting about Block head that can make it more useful. well two things I guess. the first is that I saw Kou2007 use it to help him mow down a crap load of armors, and it seemed pretty effective for that purpose. he'd carry it around with him and spit it out when he would engage the armors. not bad if you plan to use the block head anyway. the second thing I noticed, was that the block head heals sol for a good amount of health. it's one hell of a healer, and it doesn't lose as much health as it restores, so theres another use for it. I still haven't applied the unit in my Sol game, but I eventually plan to see if I can.
PandaKingEX Posted November 4, 2009 Posted November 4, 2009 Super armor means that you still receive damage, but you can't be flinched. The best example being Sol's Volcanic Viper.
Sol.Badguy Posted November 4, 2009 Posted November 4, 2009 Ah thanks, i see. Are super armor moves really that useful? the only useful ones I can think of off hand are obvously sols 2Y and ky's 2Y
Blackgenma Posted November 4, 2009 Posted November 4, 2009 they have their uses. beside the obvious "you can't stop my move when you hit me" feature, they go through cyclone blasts, so you can set up some stuff around that. I heard AJ loved to Volcanic Viper through cyclone blasts in master battles for example. keep on the pressure and make them waste tension. but this in it self isn't something thats easy to do. practice partner may be required to try out, since there's no setting in training mode to make the dummy cyclone blast. super armor moves are not unstoppable by the way, just very hard to stop. Sin's electric ball thing can stop Sol's volcanic viper for instance.
Blackgenma Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 yeah....dispel on the dragon wont get rid of the attack reduction. I hate that thing.
