Ok so now that we have more loke tests I'll make a big edit.

BAM

Loketest 1:

+ 2C>5C gattling added (can't input 2C twice)

+ j4D is damn fast. Crosses up on low height, it's low.

- 5D reduced invincibility frames

- 22B has reduced range

- 22C has more recovery

Loketest 2:

+ C haida bounces higher, can perform combos from further away

+ optic barrel start up faster

+ 6A hits crouched opponent

+ 5C can jc even on block

+ chain revolver moves have increased speed

+ bloom trigger slides opponents hit on ground

+ j.B hits below her

- C haida bounces higher so higher dmg combos require more skill

- 5D slower than first loke test. Pauses a moment before coming out. Distance is longer

- Spring raid launches more horizontally. If not in corner cannot follow up

- no more long haida loops

- overall dmg decreased

- CR 5D not jump cancelable

Loketest 3:

- 5C doesn't move her forward.

Loketest 4:

Loketest 5:

+ 5C > 6B gatling added.

+ Noel confirmed to be "Scary"

+ Second hit of 6C "Wallbounds"

+ "Mashing" or "Random Hits" Into a 4.2k Combo?

+ "Noel: She had poor normal moves back in CS1 so this will be changed. Chain Revolvers are changed to be more useful for dodging moves " Listed by Arcadia's character concepts for BBCS2, take this as you will, I consider it a buff -LunaKage

- Cannot Cancel Forward Throw

- Bloom Trigger wallbounces only in corner (elsewhere it causes slide)

Its only a first loctest. I remember the BBCS loctest i went to, noels j.AB dj j.BC j.236C did like, 1900 damage, and then in the final version it does like, 1200 damage. Best to be weak in loctest and then strong in the real version.

Hopefully they dont nerf her MORE...

I'm not gonna lie, I'm not really very happy with current BBCS Noel, but now I have to hope that instead of being 2nd/3rd worst, that she's not absolute worst.

B narrow range? C longer recovery..... less loop? Good bye 6k corner combo?

The 2C to 5C made it easier to hit confirm RC 5C into 3C... hopefully...

Way too early guys about this. This was only a test, and the majority of us haven't played it.

There's some hard as heck stuff to test for. Do we know anything about 6A? j.4D seems ambiguous, etc. etc. Unless we played it ourselves, we can't really form an accurate opinion of the changes.

Take things with a grain of salt, and lets just see how it works out :)

The title of the thread should have been something along the lines of "BB:CS II Noel Balance Changes Updates" and then update accordingly, putting the date (9/9/2010) would just mean you have to make multiple threads

anyway ... no matter what they do to Noel im not dropping her, she will always be my main D:

Yep, what Dragontamer said. Don't even worry about any of the changes yet, we know way too little and I'd personally like to try it myself before even judging. And even then, they might still change from the test to the final version like they did with BBCS (hella nerfed her air damage by like, 2/3rds etc)

BTW: As long as they handle it well, I think a Haida-loop less Noel is gonna be better for all of us. We managed in CS without the 6C BC loop, unthinkable for anyone who used to play BBCT. I for one prefer the new combos compared to 66C BC x 4. Just saying. Compared to the other changes experimented in the Loketest... like getting rid of Wall-Bounce on Bang's 623B and Ragna's 5B -> 6A doesn't gatling... losing the Haida loop isn't quite a big deal, especially when 3C -> 22BC -> 6C -> 5D 623D -> 66C churns out a ton of damage anyway. (not quite as much as Haida, but we can work without).

As usual, I'm more interested in the Chain Revolver changes. Option-Select Chain Revolver would be a subtle change to the buffering mechanic... but would hella-improve Noel's Chain Revolver Blockstrings for instance, and I doubt that any Noel player would test for that at a Loketest.

(BTW: I tested for OptionSelect Chain Revolver, the buffer is too large in BB:CS, so you can't do it)

Ultimately, lets face it. Anything can happen between now and the final release. And wishing for specific things and reading the translations of an unknown japanese player and trying to form an opinion of it is the definition of "ignorance breeding ignorance". I can think of a ton of ways to improve Noel that no player at a Loketest would ever figure out.

HeartNana: are you still in Japan? Is there any way we can get "first-hand experience"? (erm... second-hand, from you at least?)

I'm not going to lie: I am very interested in these changes, despite the fact that they may or may not come about in the final patch. Its just hard to get excited when the source of all this knowledge is so... distant.

Yeah I'm in Japan. If a loctest comes to the kansai area, I'll be there and of course I'll do a writeup here.

I also don't even use the Haida loop much except against like, Tager and bang. I much prefer easy combos like 3C 22C 6C 5D 2D 623D dash 6C j.D 6D6B5C 236D for like, 4250 damage, lol. And it's not like it's getting removed, its prolly just more situational. I can land corner throw 22BC dash 6C 4D 236D 6D 22B 22C on like, every character, and it's very easy. Things like that will most likely stay the same, but things like midscreen 3C 22BC dash 6C 22BC etc will prolly be changed at least a little.

We don't know the extent or anything yet. It's also like when people say "6C throw whiff 6C doesn't work anymore" yet theres still a few situations where it works.

My only hope is that they give her unlimited Noel's j.214C, but without the the bounce happening only on CH or something. I would love that.

Oh this is like a beta or even an alpha version then, thank god...

More importantly, i hope they won't change 22b and c mechanics too much. I kind of like the current Haida loop (especially since i spent like an entire month to bloody learn it).

Whatever - I survived the change between CT to CS, so I can certainly survive this. Hell, I'll just keep an open mind, because I'm a slave to using this character.

On c), hell, I can guarentee that any scrub non-Noel player who touches Noel will think that 5D has "less invincibility". We need to make sure the player is very familiar with Noel before we can trust something like that. With a lack of startup and a lack of ending invincibility, as well as overall punishability / predictability... 5D is not really an easy to use attack.

Pretty much, I'll only trust HeartNana. Go get them facts :eng101:

Makes sense. Platinum does seem to appeal to the "Kawaii" far better than Noel. But I want my dodge mechanics + Dmash. I got into Noel for those reasons, I'll stick to her because of it.

Hell, I was a pretty big D-Masher in CT, back when Chain Revolver sucked. :-)

I want to play Plat, too, but I'll obviously use my best character as my main, which will probably continue to be Noel.

Chiizu - I like haida loop too, but a month isn't THAT long. I spent that long learning Makoto's parry loop just for it to be taken out. And again, it's not like it's gone, we just know 2 small sentences. It might still be there, but made shorter. If it means you get 1 or 2 less reps, not a huge deal since the damage difference is only a few hundred points anyways (please correct me if I'm wrong here). We don't know anything yet, so speculation is really just that...speculation.

Dragontamer - Yeah, I'll even admit I probably wouldn't be able to tell the difference in 5D unless it's obvious to the point that it never goes through anything... However, since I'm a 2D masher, I notice all differences to 2D immediately, hahaha.

Hazel - Yeah, i think we already survived the worst. If you've come this far, why not just go all the way, right?

DC - Yeah, that screenshot with the giant cat missle won me over, haha.

I always sub a "troll" character. In SSB:Melee, I subbed Pichu. In Marvel vs Capcom, it was B.B.Hood. I practice them only to rub it in my opponents faces that they lost to the cutest / weakest looking thing in the game. Platinum looks like the perfect character for that.

But Valk looks damn awesome. Then again, I can always have two subs.

I agree with you, AzureRevolver. No matter what changes she gets, I'll always main her. I'm not even sweating these loctest because so much can change between the beta and the final version.

Now if Platinum plays sorta like May does in Guilty Gear, I might have found another sub XD In Guilty Gear, my main is Millia and sub is May so this would be quite nice for me :3
