LegendaryRath Posted December 3, 2012 Posted December 3, 2012 What would be ideal to follow up a CT? I can't imagine doing any real damage without spending at least 3 orbs.
Skeletal Minion Posted December 3, 2012 Posted December 3, 2012 My favorite scumbag tactic against Rachel is IAD early j.2A. If she anti-air Lobelias you cut it and hit her with the orb immediately, then land > 5C > whatever. My thought process behind Haku crushing guard is this: You have 6 stars, they have less than 50% barrier. CT > CT (guard break) > 5C > OD > combo Something like that. Probably not something to solely aim for since saving stars for more practical uses is advised, but situationally useful.
LegendaryRath Posted December 3, 2012 Posted December 3, 2012 Ya that's kind of what I was thinking. I was curious because I haven't seen much use of it yet.
mAc Chaos Posted December 3, 2012 Posted December 3, 2012 You can't really do anything to Rachel at the start of the match. She super jumps back and winds up and you can't hit her; then she throws out a frog and a pumpkin while she's up there.
Wander Posted December 3, 2012 Posted December 3, 2012 I j.c rachels who super jumped back to summon pumpkin at the start of round, maybe they werent winding up
Skeletal Minion Posted December 3, 2012 Posted December 3, 2012 Also: knock Rachel down. Stand JUST inside cat chair range as she wakes up. Right as her neutral tech ends, max charge 6C. Charging 6C makes you lean slightly back, enough to make cat chair whiff when it would have otherwise hit. Enjoy your FC 6C combo. If she doesn't neutral tech, just don't do the 6C.

Cheefoo Posted December 3, 2012 Posted December 3, 2012 http://youtu.be/DJ1hUNyuzeQ?t=11m10s Hop agito looks like it's really good on block, leading up to a great mixup opportunity. Maybe it doesn't leave him in front of the opponent in the air if their hitbox is small enough, as he would just fly over them?

I remember watching that match and thinking the exact same thing. It seems that you can get a small combo off CH as well, or if they don't tech.

mAc Chaos Posted December 3, 2012 Posted December 3, 2012 Are you guys sure? I've tried everything in the book and I can never hit her on the way up at the start of the round. I guess I'm just fucking it up. Blade, it's harder to do resets on Rachel. If you let her air tech no matter how well you plan it, she's going to have a way easier time escaping than others thanks to her wind. It's better to just nail her down and go for oki unless you're really sure you're gonna land something.
Skeletal Minion Posted December 3, 2012 Posted December 3, 2012 Wow thats... awesome. It's a neat gimmick, but very risky, so don't abuse it. Also works with some DPs/reversals (Inferno Divider and a few others), you really have to get the exact range down though. It's not a bad idea to whiff something as they're waking up to bait them into doing the DP, like correctly space yourself > 2B whiff as they're teching > max 6C just before they've landed from the neutral tech. http://youtu.be/DJ1hUNyuzeQ?t=11m10s Hop agito looks like it's really good on block, leading up to a great mixup opportunity. Maybe it doesn't leave him in front of the opponent in the air if their hitbox is small enough, as he would just fly over them? Wow, that looks crazy plus on block. Regarding the potential fly over, it would be amazing if characters he hopped over could be mixed up with something like hop Agito > immediate j.B (to hit from the front) or slight delay j.B (to cross up). If that works, I hereby deign it the sG mixup

And thanks just wondering, I have a few CSEX matches I'm gonna post up from a local tourney we ran, I gotta say your scummy tactics work really well. I need moar of them though.
mAc Chaos Posted December 3, 2012 Posted December 3, 2012 :3 Awesome. Yeah, I've tried IADing and trying to j.C before she gets too high, super jumping and j.Cing, super jumping and air throwing, IADing and trying to hit her on the way down, etc. Best I can do is counter her pumpkin on the way down and hope she runs into the catch. But chances are I'll just time it wrong and get hit so it's better to just block. It's been a long time since I fought Rachel though so I might be remembering wrong. I just remember trying out all my options in the middle of the matches and finding nothing.
BladeOfJustice7 Posted December 3, 2012 Posted December 3, 2012 You just don't play the matchup enough from what it sounds like to me. If you sj.c towards her you should get her. Only way for you to miss is if she uses wind, and if she does that, then the pumpkin becomes useless because she does not have the wind to use it anymore.
BladeOfJustice7 Posted December 3, 2012 Posted December 3, 2012 then you can go in on her after, the pumpkin is useless without sufficient wind.
Isuna Posted December 3, 2012 Posted December 3, 2012 @Isuna: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vKa4f84q6lc and for voice set two when he does it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=4XzmS1WMpgg#t=189s For the first one, I have problem hearing what he says because it hits with the CP-bitchslap sound just as he says it but, I'm pretty sure it is "kekkai ?zetsu". I'm pretty sure I hear a "o" before, so my guess it is "kyozetsu". Anyone with better ears than me can make a try. "Kekkai kyozetsu" would be something along the lines of "barrier rejection", which would somewhat make sense. In the other match he uses a sumo term, "waki ga amai", which means "(you have) poor defence". Gotta love trollin' Hakumen, says you have poor defence when he attacks with an unblockable and says you are slow when he attacks you with the games second fastest overhead. By the way, if it isn't changed from CS he says "kekkai kaihou" when he bursts, meaning "barrier release". Kind of makes sense, if you think about CT bursts. If you have any other questions about the Japanese around Hakumen feel free to ask.

Only people he gives credit to is Valkenhayn and to a lesser extent Ragna. He actually says "Kekkai hōsha!" in CS. I would also like to what does the calligraphy stand for in the circles for Hakumen's specials, and if the symbol used for his Kokuujin techniques mean anything. You can see the symb-ol when he's preparing Shippu, and it's at the center of the yukikaze seal. I would also like to know what he calls Valk: 来い、俊老。, Koi, shunrō. I was told it means "Great Wolf" or something along those lines.

I can't figure out any meaning for it though. It's just a different written kanji for the numbers where they show how much mags he uses so 1, 2 and 3. You can also see them on his meter where there's the symbols for 0-8. Don't know much about the ones for the DDs though. Also, I don't remember exactly what Hakumen calls Valk but I think the character you're looking for is 狼 for wolf rather than 老 for elderly; though I guess it would make sense for Valkenhayn.
BladeOfJustice7 Posted December 3, 2012 Posted December 3, 2012 We can still counter bursts: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=RGfNuMKzwIE#t=7838s
Skeletal Minion Posted December 3, 2012 Posted December 3, 2012 Ok, NOW using Tsubaki over 6B seems worth it. 9k in the corner for only 5 mags to start and OD ? I'm sold. And YAY at countering bursts! The good news keeps coming in.

Though I guess if the CT was taken out.... fuck I dunno, I dunno anythin' about Haku :P Assuming we're talking about the combo I linked, anyways...
