OrionXElite Posted November 7, 2011 Posted November 7, 2011 Are you the BEST Valk in America? Fuck if I know, I've only ever met 3 other Valk players and that was at EVO and 2 of them were Canadians :3 But I'd say TheBiter is better than me honestly.

Spirit Juice Posted November 7, 2011 Posted November 7, 2011 Yeah I heard the round robin tournaments took forever for some reason. What gives? lol
Tone Posted November 7, 2011 Posted November 7, 2011 Well as far as AH3 goes, I was holding matches for the stream, but as soon as I got the word about being crunched for time, I went ahead and ran through the tournament off stream, which went pretty fast. Didn't really matter much, results are pretty much exactly what they were the prior month. Sad, but what can you do
Dakanya Posted November 7, 2011 Posted November 7, 2011 (edited) Hi, I'd like to sincerely apologize to everyone for how the Guilty and Melty tournaments turned out and how late they ended up running. I didn't expect to be running the brackets for both games and in hindsight, I should have taken a more proactive stance about things and it was my bad. It also didn't help that we were doing a new thing for both of them, random 2on2s for GGAC and round robin pools to double elim top 4 for MBAA but my intention was for everyone to have fun, be able to play more than they normally would, and get more people to enter when they normally wouldn't. For those who entered GGAC random teams, what did you guys think? Fun? Like/dislike? If it were run more smoothly, would you like it if we did it again? If yes, how often in comparison to singles? The GGAC team tournament was double-elim, "SBO" Waseda style (Player A vs. Player A, B vs. B, A vs. B if the score is 1-1). Just to get some discussion started, here are some pros and cons I thought of... Pros: [+] Statistically gives a character who has a bad matchup more of a chance to win, more matches played means less of a chance of winning [+] Appeals to newbies or tourny-shy players as they may have a chance to win now or get further than 0-2 Cons: [-] One match is strict! Technically can result in less tournament games played despite possibly getting further than 0-2 [-] A tournament match now requires four players to be present instead of two which is problematic when people enter multiple tournaments! If you have any feedback, comments, constructive criticism, please post! As for Melty Blood, I will be brainstorming and discussing with my fellow peers. Again, my sincere apologies for how things turned out m(__)m Edited November 7, 2011 by Dakanya
Crosell Posted November 7, 2011 Posted November 7, 2011 I wasnt there but I do want to say I have been watching the drom struction matches, and i have been enjoying Spirit Juices commentary.
qwerty Posted November 8, 2011 Posted November 8, 2011 i think random teams was actually a great idea, and if done more often it'll result in more matchup experience for everyone. but, it is a logistical nightmare. we should start gg early (fat chance) and/or try to get the whole thing done in one sitting, so to speak (read: no fucking two hour dinner breaks or any gay shit like that) if we're gonna make it work. i know that we have to stream catherine or whatever but honestly we may want to go back to having two steams go on at once.
Dakanya Posted November 8, 2011 Posted November 8, 2011 We actually started it early but there was a long period where there weren't any matches being played and I was hitting some snags with the Melty Blood tournament so I was preoccupied. So as soon as Guilty Gear went off stream, everyone stopped thinking about it for some reason. I was kind of expecting some backup support but yeah it didn't happen and I should've been more on top of things so it was my bad last month one stream was fine
Spirit Juice Posted November 8, 2011 Posted November 8, 2011 I think having one person to one each tournament would be best. I think it's a little much to have one person run two games such as GG and MB. What's the motivation? Well if there's no one to run the tournament for that game, there's no tournament for that game. :3 Should asign one person and a back up person to each game. For example: GG run by Katana- when he's there, run by Honnou when he's not there. Not volunteering Rodrigo or anything, but just using an example.
Shining Aquas Posted November 10, 2011 Posted November 10, 2011 (edited) shoutouts to white people wreaking havoc all over the place, whether it be bathroom keys, salt, or flat out rage. most people missed aquas blowing up xeno and shouting at him like an abusive parent right after, which was fucking hilarious. That sounds like sig material to me (though I dislike how much has to be cut, fucking sig limitations). Also, 2v2 Guilty Tournament was hype as fuck, despite how retarded some of the teams came out (Read Fred/Slayer, Magz/Tenkai, Honnou/Dabbit). I had a lot of fun with that, and it felt like a really fresh approach to GG for us. Regarding Melty, the only problem I saw was that I couldn't tell who I was supposed to be playing half the time, because apparently I wasn't supposed to play everybody. Strange Round Robin setup. Getting about 4 air throws from across the screen at the start of the match on multiple occasions was downright hilarious though. AH was pretty normal. I'm so sick of fighting Scharl though, that matchup is ass. I shouted at Xeno because he needs to stop getting punished by dumb shit. Block j.B. Done. I only found BB problematic because I ended up going NOT 0-2, which either means I'm getting better at stick or the scene is getting worse. Or both, cause I sure haven't gotten like any better at that game. Also, fuck Makoto. Edited November 10, 2011 by Shining Aquas
ehuangsan Posted November 11, 2011 Posted November 11, 2011 I only found BB problematic because I ended up going NOT 0-2, which either means I'm getting better at stick or the scene is getting worse. Or both, cause I sure haven't gotten like any better at that game. Also, fuck Makoto. I went 1-2 in BB in October and I played the game for all of 30 min beforehand, so I think it's the scene getting worse And I had plenty of chances to win my last match too....which is hilarious when you think about it.
PhaethonH Posted November 11, 2011 Posted November 11, 2011 I don't mind running brackets. But apparently everyone else hates to and just assumes I do, too. EDIT: but I do hate tio['s ui].
notKBF Posted November 11, 2011 Posted November 11, 2011 shoutouts to pain for being peoples champ, 2GB combo for being the villain, and notKBF for being the only man cheering noel Shoutouts to 2GB playing well, shoutouts to not hating noel, and shoutouts to gas money shoutouts to being even later about reading the thread Shoutouts to getting nervous in BB and letting people go 1-2 that I probably should not have let go 1-2 and scrubbing out back to 0-2 Shoutouts to AH3's round robin, getting destroyed by the community was a fun way to see more AH3. next time maybe i will know how to play konoha shoutouts to shining gundam, shining finger
