haketh Posted November 28, 2010 Posted November 28, 2010 Yeah my bad I don't know why I thought Melty Blood was localized for a second, the second I posted I realized I'm an idiot.
RaveSage Posted November 28, 2010 Posted November 28, 2010 I dunno about Reccetear, but last time I checked- Melty wasn't localized because it'd also sell terribly. Pretty much the only people who'd buy it would be people posting here (maybe some lurkers). That's uh... not very convincing numbers for a localization company. I'd have to disagree with that to an extent. This game got on Japanator and several other forums. Sure it's still a niche market but Recettear was completely unknown till CF localized it and now it's made 30k+ sales.
eirei Posted November 28, 2010 Posted November 28, 2010 It doesn't take a marketing genius to see that the sales would be terrible were it to be localized: it's a fighter, anime themed and part of a non-localized franchise. Plus, it'd cost like 30€, do you seriously think someone who wasn't a fan of the series would spend that much on doujin game? This is a stupid argument, why am I even discussing it.
PrinceHyphy Posted November 28, 2010 Posted November 28, 2010 I'll buy almost any fighter but I won't buy any RPG that's why I never bought a Arcarna Hearts game thought it was an RPG ooooh how wrong I was and how PIsSsSsSED!! I am I can honestly say that my gaming library consist mostly of fighters and I doesn't take much for a fighting game to sale other than word of mouth and a strong fan base had I known that Melty Blood was based off of Tsukihime I would have jumped on it
furix Posted November 28, 2010 Posted November 28, 2010 I don't think this would ever be localized... Hell, Umineko PS3 has a higher chance of getting a localization... and that won't happen either! :s
SoWL Posted November 28, 2010 Posted November 28, 2010 Well, we always have Witch Hunt for our needs of Umineko translations. I'm sure this one will have much less text than the VNs, so it won't interrupt their EP8 translations too much. And if you want an official release, there is Mangagamer, who have already released Higurashi in English and did want to release Umineko after that. The price will probably drop, too, as it's not an actual physical release, but a download. The only problem being is that they've never released a fighting game before, their only gameplay title being Shin Koihime Musou.
Cirno Posted November 28, 2010 Author Posted November 28, 2010 (edited) I do wonder when they'll get around to translating this, though. Ideally they could start right after they finish episode 7, get it finished quickly, then work on 8, but lol Witch Hunt. Edited November 28, 2010 by Cirno 6%
Tachyons Posted November 28, 2010 Posted November 28, 2010 Translating might be quick, but it's a whole other kind of software. Mirrormoon took quite a while in replacing the text of MBAC.
Qaenyin Posted November 28, 2010 Posted November 28, 2010 Not only is it a whole other kind of software, but 90% of the coding was already done for them. NScripter is probably the most well documented VN engine out there. Edit:Also localizing this is almost completely unneeded anyways. It's a PC fighting game, so there's nothing to prevent people from importing it. Admittedly localizing it would help advertise it, but nothing advertises fighting games more than hype matches, really, provided the game is at least accessible to people without massive inconvenience(MBAA being a good example of an inaccessible game due to difficulty and cost of importing console games).
Rhiya Posted November 28, 2010 Posted November 28, 2010 Translating might be quick, but it's a whole other kind of software. Mirrormoon took quite a while in replacing the text of MBAC. Mirrormoon takes forever to do anything. >_> Not that I don't appreciate their work, but they can be ungodly slow. The installer fiasco was ugh, too.
SoWL Posted November 28, 2010 Posted November 28, 2010 Come on, Mirrormoon are not that bad. Have some respect for the dead. So, do we still need to translate anything from the system part of the website, or is this post enough for now? It's missing some points, but that should be enough until the game's release.
Rhiya Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 Come on, Mirrormoon are not that bad. Have some respect for the dead. Again, it's not like I don't appreciate what they've done. Tsukihime is great, F/SN is slightly less great (but that's not their fault), Taka-Jun helped TL the KnK movies, and MBAC got me into fighting games proper. I'm thankful for their work.
dooku Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 Preorders are now open on amiami for: Ougon Musou Kyoku Episode 8 and Tsubasa Figured I'd just include all of them for anyone else that was waiting for all of the preorders to open up. Yay, I'm gonna be broke as hell, too many awesome imports getting released this winter (Umineko stuff, Mahoutsukai no Yoru, AH3).
Antihippy Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 (edited) Wasn't tsubasa supposed to be bundled with Ep8? Huh. Got my preorder for ougon. Netcode will probably be lol (though australia to japan connection aint too bad) and nobody else in aus will play, but still, hype. Edited November 29, 2010 by Antihippy
Prototype909 Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 This thing sold out instantaneously on Ami Ami, lol
furix Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 Actually, I believe they are still up for pre-order.
donutman46 Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 Preorders opened today http://www.amiami.jp/shop/?set=english&vgForm=ProductInfo&sku=TVG-PC-0263&template=default/product/e_display.html
Shiawase Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 BEEEEAAAAAAAATOOOOORRRRRIIIIICCCHHHEEEEE!! I hope we get more gameplay videos and/or info about the game before it comes out. It seems like some of the hype has died down which, while understandable, makes me sad.
SolxBaiken Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 It seems like some of the hype has died down which, while understandable, makes me sad. I don't think any of the hype is gone...it's just we have no new info/videos to go on, so really it's just a matter of waiting a month for when the game comes out and all can enjoy :D (though I suspect we'll get some vids late this month)
Tachyons Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 Awaiting the kawaii winposes and round end announcer.
Hecatom Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 i have a question, would the game be a downloadable or a disc? im planning on preorder it, but depending on how its distribiuited i need to make some planning
Kuuhaku Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 I'm hoping we'll see more videos once it's released at comiket. <3
