mAc Chaos Posted October 10, 2011 Posted October 10, 2011 That Haku didn't cut anything, even the most obvious set ups. I was wondering the same thing too.
BladeOfJustice7 Posted October 11, 2011 Author Posted October 11, 2011 That's probably bad risk-reward assessment on his part. You guys are over thinking it.
Moblin Posted October 12, 2011 Posted October 12, 2011 I know when Lambda is charging her sword wave right in front of CH 3c range, I freeze up and just kind of wait for it to hit. It's weird. It might be something like that. Also, looks like 6a is the corner pick up of choice. I love how 6a is a good oki punisher in the corner now. If they roll, you get a nice wall bounce starter combo. If they tech neutral, it looks like the animation stops before you're at a frame disadvantage. If they don't tech, you just 5c them again after the wallbounce and reset it.

You guys are over thinking it. what else are you supposed to think though? assuming you have no knowledge of the changes. anyways, hope you guys are doing well and progressing and all that. i might end up getting cs2e when it comes out.
WolfCrimson Posted October 13, 2011 Posted October 13, 2011 Qwerty, didn't you dislike BB? If you don't mind me asking? Hey look, I sent this Tapatalk post. From my iPhone. Sweeeet.

We all make occasional bad risk-reward assessment in our matches when it comes to cutting projectiles with what slash, both in the air and on the ground. Spike chaser, I tend to do my best to cut it, dodge it, and in the worst case scenario, counter it. I rather not lose my primers against her especially if I can avoid it. Even the best of us do that. Taking away the void is like going to steps back in terms of balancing hakumen. He needs as much tools to fight projectiles as possible. Taking it away would hurt him all around. Everyone remembers the "reward" for cutting projectiles back in CT *shivers*. Hey look, I sent this Tapatalk post. From my iPhone. Sweeeet. Second post I've seen that has that today. What's tapatalk?
WolfCrimson Posted October 13, 2011 Posted October 13, 2011 It's an app for mobile devices (smart phones, mostly) that allows easy browsing of forums and replying. Beats going on a phone's installed browser.

BladeOfJustice7 Posted October 15, 2011 Author Posted October 15, 2011 Anyone wanna start helping me compile videos for ex? :3
Afro-Demon Posted October 15, 2011 Posted October 15, 2011 Shippu is looking to be a high damage punish for projectile. 9:42 on this video he uses it to beat out 214D from Mu. Scroll a little back if you want to see what she was doing pressure wise. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MB2s6Ulz6l0
Moblin Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 Yeah, I was really surprised/excited when I saw that. Did they give the wave after Shippu a damage buff, or did it always do that much?
dioxideUniversa Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 The wave is 2500 right now which is ~about what it looked like in that video.
IndigoNovember Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 It also looks like the attack, if uncharged, happens in the super flash/freeze now. Note how the slash was able to come out before the stein explosion. In CSII the stein explosion would have happened before the slash, negating it's ability to punish.
BladeOfJustice7 Posted October 17, 2011 Author Posted October 17, 2011 Ok guys I've edited the first 2 posts. I have some requests to make since I'll still be the video thread guy of the hakumen community. 1. I'll be a lot more busy this semester, less so with my city's scene. And more with school, I'll be getting a lot of tests and quizzes, making it hard for me to maintain this thread. So I would like for people to post up videos more often for me to add to the first page. NO Nico videos, they're too problematic (and you can't scroll through the video until they've loaded). 2. I need someone to give me the names of the players, I don'y speak Japanese. So tl;dr I need help with adding videos and translating player names. Thanks.
BladeOfJustice7 Posted October 17, 2011 Author Posted October 17, 2011 Double post (because I can) I'm going to hold out on putting the new CSEX videos until I get names of the players. But continue adding them in the thread. RTL, RYOKO WHERE ARE YOU GUYS?!!
Rewenger Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 Could you please tell if there's some vids of japanese hakumens that play defensively and use Zanshin more frequent than 0.3-1.35 times per round (and successful at that)?
IndigoNovember Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 Could you please tell if there's some vids of japanese hakumens that play defensively and use Zanshin more frequent than 0.3-1.35 times per round (and successful at that)? That'll be hard to find. From what I've seen, most Japanese Hakumen players either play a balanced game of offensive and defensive or mainly offensive, and none use Zanshin frequently and/or completely successfully.
Rewenger Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 Hmm, sad. Character style divergence and stuff. Well, I've watched this and saw Naoe playing mostly off zoning/waiting for chance/zanshin and thought it's kinda cool. Tried to find something similar but failed miserably.
BladeOfJustice7 Posted October 17, 2011 Author Posted October 17, 2011 Good defense doesn't mean you have to mash zanshin. But the closest person I can think of that does that is Film, but he plays fairly offensive and sometimes gets blown up for mashing zanshin. The best defensive play is Spark, and best offensive, I would say is Tenchi (or at least he's a hard hitter, no one combos like him). Though granted, neither Spark nor Tenchi mash counters.
SimpleKiss Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 Zanshin is high risk/high reward, though the high reward part can be debatable. Most japanese players don't rely on it because it's a risky move to attempt a counter, unless you have ungodly reactions. Defense isn't about counters really, it's more about knowing the situations in which to use them.
mAc Chaos Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 It used to be high reward in CT. Well, not really even then, just not terrible reward. In CS2 it wasn't worth it. I'm not sure if they made it so you can get more damage off of them now.
