It's a loketest for a game that had a really bad first version.

It's not surprising it hasn't picked up steam.

I think it's visually slick (and I want it to be a good game -- I've loved all the aesthetics of the game since day 1), but the first version was seriously kusoge. Combo system was fucked hard.

More players show up later. I'm just kinda bummed that I keep missing the Eltnum. From her description it's one of my favorite players...

People keep talking about it being so bad. It's always been a great looking game to me.

The first impression of the game really soured people and since people in FGC have the memory of a cheap Polaroid photo, It's up to us to rep the game well and make the facts clear.

Coulda sworn Hilda had a boss version at some point last version... Did they scrap it along with her 400% meter?

I remember her 2C? (the sword that pops out of the ground) summoning like 3 swords at once or something...

Posted (edited)

If anything Hilda's looks even weirder because she slides faster for some reason. What is this sorcery?

Serious gameplay being discussed here.

EDIT: Really tho, she just comboed into her not-so-instant-kill. It wasn't even hard. Cool?

Was she wearing orange?

Yeah, I believe it was an orange/brown suit with bright green hair. Did those combo to gun to kick to dive kick to gun to kick to dive kick to gun to.... you get the picture, kind of looks like a cooler version of a Noel 22C/B? combo.

Edit: Also is that high command grab a new thing for Gordeau, cause I keep seeing him using a command grab as an anti-air and it combos if you use your vorpal gauge thing.

Yeah, it was "Horus" the player who holds the 2nd place in RIP rankings. Yesterday he even fought a few matches with the ranking 1st "Watanabe-shachou" on stream.

Anyways, suddenly the official site announces that "Exe:Late" starts to operate on Thursday. "In-Birth Front" will also be down on that day from 0:00 AM to 5:00 AM (Japanese time)

Can I get a Real Honest description of the following mechanics?:

- The new universal 214D. (Is this the Dead Angle?)

- The new B+C

- GRD meter usage on defense (This is like, so strange to me but it's real.)

What is exactly happening when you do these? People keep giving melty and capcom descriptions and that is not helping me.

And am I wrong or is there really a FD/push block? I used to have a blog with basics but it's gone.

Anyways, today's site update told us details about the new systems. All "Force Function"s consume 1 GRD block, but they are also be usable even if you don't have any GRD

Counter Assault a.k.a. "Guard Thrust" is executed with a command 214D while guarding. There's two ways to activate it though in both way you still need you to have 100 EXS... If you are in "Vorpal" state, you can consume the status to make "Guard Thrust". The other way to make it is by using 100 EXS... but doing it this way will end you up in "GRD Break" state.

i'm trying to find about shield too. I remember that it can be used normaly or during blockstun, having different property and animations. Look's like it consume some meter. http://inbirth.info/img/system/sys_ss_ea_shield01.png http://inbirth.info/img/system/sys_ss_aa_guardshield01.png

And that using it at the wrong height will break your grd meter for some time http://inbirth.info/img/system/sys_grd_grdbreak00.png http://inbirth.info/img/system/sys_grd_grdbreak01.png http://inbirth.info/img/system/sys_grd_grdbreak02.png

After watching some videos, I'm seriously in love with Chaos. His character design is excellent, his voice is pretty good, his theme is really catchy, and his neutral stance is cool (it helps that he has a book, too). If I ever get to play EXELate, he's definitely the character that I'll pick.

Wow, all of a sudden? No trailer? :/

I'm pretty sure there was a teaser picture of Chaos as if he was put into that trailer from last year. Hoping they'll at least show a trailer on release day then lol

EDIT: Found it. https://twitter.com/narita_ton/status/337829380229320704/photo/1

Now that I think of it, since they're probably revealing Nanase this week then they'll probably release the trailer with both new characters...

Okay, first is the 214D. While blocking you can spend 100 EXS and all of your GRD to do an invincible counter attack out of block stun. This is essentially a Counter Assault/Dead Angle/whatever equivalent. I have only seen it used in matches once, so I'm assuming its also unsafe on whiff or block. What I'm unsure about is that it looks like if you do this counter while in GRD Vorpal it will either not consume your GRD, not consume your meter (or both) but WILL consume your GRD Vorpal state, meaning it will be impossible to cancel your counter attack on whiff, hit or block under any circumstances. I'm guessing you'd usualy be better off with a frame gap Chain Shift about 90% of the time.

Secondly is the new B+C move. Vatista always had one of these, apparently, but now they've given one to everyone that are all character specific and all consume one block of GRD on use. You can use it even if you have 0 GRD, though, similarly to how you can use Concentrate (Hold D) or Assault (6+D) even if you have 0 EXS. I'm not sure what all of these moves are for everyone, but Seth's empowers his next shadow orb to be set further away, fire faster and to not break when struck. Gordeau's is that big slash with his claw, Chaos's is his partially invincible cross-up lunge forward, so its not strictly just an attack or a movement option.

Lastly, you technically can only use GRD on defense in the event of a 214D. Holding D while blocking (Shield) actually uses EXS and, in the event of a successful block, it awards GRD, has slightly improved push-back from regular blocking and adds a few frames of landing recovery to aerial attackers. I don't think it negates chip damage, but seeing as how you can't die from chip in UNiB, that's not terribly surprising. The downside of this is that, if you block wrong or are grabbed while using Shield, it breaks your GRD gauge and thus prevents your from building more GRD and entering GRD Vorpal for a limited time. It also forcibly removes you from the GRD Vorpal state if you were already in it.

Well, that's all I can tell you to the best of my ability. If I'm incorrect in something, someone please say so. I'd like to not continue living in a fantasy land as far as this game is concerned, haha

I was kind of excited about Guard Cancels, but it seems like a rather weak option... I haven't seen it used once. :/

I guess it's good that the option is even there though

Chaos players really like to use throws a lot lol

It's a bit too much expecting good Chaos players the first few days though but seriously... (Although it's a bit funny how many people fail to tech those throws haha)

By operate you mean it'll be released Thursday right. But they haven't even loktested Nanase yet

And has anyone else noticed all the stages have become wider. That's one of the more interesting changes

I think she's getting the Izayoi treatment in that she won't be available first thing and will be implemented down the line. That's what makes the most sense to me, anyway.
