Tari Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 Oh. In that case, xsplit can definitely do it. Just get two capture devices, hook them up to the same computer, and make them separate scenes in xsplit. Both capture devices get initialized, so there's no downtime when swapping between scenes (except transition time, which you can disable anyway). I think wirecast can do it, too, but I'm not sure how to do it there, and I don't think wirecast takes the HDPVR as a camera source, so you'd have to use BMI Pro/Shuttles or other capture card/devices (like Avermedia ones, etc.) It'd probably work best with two Shuttles, anyway, instead of a shuttle and hdpvr, due to possible differences in lag time between devices and somewhat flaky support for the HDPVR as of the latest xsplit patch. I'm also not sure how xsplit sees multiple HDPVRs, so there's that problem as well.
brett_ Posted January 18, 2012 Posted January 18, 2012 i wonder why dustloop stopped sending me updates on this thread o_O. in any case, it's honestly probably easier and cheaper to just buy four splitters, and send a split HDMI connection from each setup into a feed switcher, and just use the switcher change perspectives. one setup, one capture card. provided such a switcher exists, this sounds like the cheaper option. OR clearly we should just buy a real EXVS setup and reverse engineer and make our own proxy server >_> In other news, I'm currently in the process of working on the individual suit pages on my wiki, but the going is quite slow, obviously. Anyone who wants to contribute should PM me and I can give them access to contribute. I basically realized you can copy the source HTML from the wiki and paste it into googlesites and all the nice tables and coloring will be preserved, which was the biggest thing preventing me from attempting this earlier. As you can see, the red lock range charge has already been added to the wiki.
Tari Posted January 18, 2012 Posted January 18, 2012 The reason I didn't mention a switcher was that I think it causes the screen to blackout for a moment between each input? I've never used one, though, so I actually don't know, lol.
qwerty Posted January 18, 2012 Posted January 18, 2012 I don't know if an HDMI splitter exists or how good it would be if it exists, but component switches exist and it sounds like it'd work just fine for what you guys need.

vibratingsheep Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 Dammit Tari, stop trolling my day 1 Zeta :P
UltraChingon Posted February 8, 2012 Posted February 8, 2012 Yo, trying to set up some casuals in SoCal, if interested PM or post on this thread below :D http://w11.zetaboards.com/Cost_Over/topic/7621515/1/#new
vibratingsheep Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 Update on the stream setup: We now have a box that can show two PS3 feeds at once and switch between them freely. Next step is getting the sound worked out so it's not audio chaos, but by next NCI our stream rig will be fully ready to handle and show two separate screens of Gundamming! :D
Eggs&Rice Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 Fucking hard-ass game, no matter how many times I practice, I can never get the basic shit down. Well, that just means that the developers actually did something right with this game. What are the special properties of rainbow dash, and in what situations would I use it (other than just rushing down your opponent with a melee attack)?
Dakanya Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 A rainbow step (not a rainbow dash) is essentially a sidestep which means it will cut guidance on incoming attacks on startup. This includes melee attacks as well so if their melee attack is out, you could sidestep and make it whiff but of course they can rainbow step their attack as well if they have the boost. Since you can cancel melee moves into it and you can do anything off of a sidestep (including another sidestep), it's often used as a combo extender and/or as a way to avoid getting cut out of your combo. Using a melee attack and rainbow stepping can be a safer way to approach than if you boost at them because you can't cancel a boost dash into a sidestep. There's also the option of rainbow stepping and then from there you might boost/hop away and/or fire a projectile. Have you read Brett's guide on the game? It goes over core principles of the game theory and some key basics: https://sites.google.com/site/unlimitedbrettworks/gundam-extreme-vs/gundam-exvs-guide
UltraChingon Posted February 23, 2012 Posted February 23, 2012 My gift to the gundam community, hopefully you all like it o_o http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oYDTtQ4HYyI
Shining Aquas Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 So, what's the best thing to do if you have another melee-intensive gundam chasing you down? I've tried boost dashing away while firing projectiles, but the cpu just dodges them and I can't actually get enough distance to escape. In that kind of scenario do you go for a jump, block or what? Also, does blocking work on everything? Finally, if I got the Asian version, do I need to create a Hong Kong PSN account or a Japanese PSN account to get the DLC stuff?
Blade Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 This is pissing me off since I don't know these things but...how long should I wait before the price for this game will drop? $90-130 for a game is overmuch for me. Even for an import.

Get out of angle (go up/over them, etc.), time your shots, don't shoot too often (you burn more boost than necessary), perhaps try melee-ing them yourself if you think you can out step them, etc. 2. Blocking works on everything that does not AOE hit behind you. That means it works on virtually everything except for Hildolfr's high explosive shot. Lots of downsides to blocking, though, especially melee stuff. 3. Asian and JP versions of the game are the same. You can use a JP PSN account and get all the dlc from JP PSN, even if you buy the Asian version. This is pissing me off since I don't know these things but...how long should I wait before the price for this game will drop? $90-130 for a game is overmuch for me. Even for an import. I imagine the price won't be dropping anytime soon, and even if it does, it'll not drop all that drastically. It's a full price Japanese game at the moment, after all.
Shining Aquas Posted March 16, 2012 Posted March 16, 2012 I'm still not really sure what Gundam I want to main. I'm kind of torn between Wing Zero, Deathscythe Hell, and Blue Frame. I really want to play Wing Zero, but he's 3k and I don't feel that would be fair to my partner since I'm not that good.
MetalMaelstrom Posted March 16, 2012 Posted March 16, 2012 Not playing Wing Zero is a wise decision, as that suit is ASS in this game. Deathscythe isn't completely unsalvageable, but your best bet is Blue Frame. Best advice: don't main one gundam. In fact, you should be able to pilot at least three or four at a competent level. One for each cost tier. You've chosen three already, (though your 3000 choice is questionable) so now you should go ahead and choose a cost 1000 gundam to train with.
Tsubasa Posted March 16, 2012 Posted March 16, 2012 You shouldn't get too caught up on what tier your unit is. Because it's a 2v2 game, having a compatible partner and/or working well with him can cover a lot of bad matchups. Just play whatever unit you want.

I don't know how Japanese gamestores handle things.

Also, America's level is honestly not at the level where we need to worry about our suits being too weak for competitive play. Every person in this community has very fundamental things that they need to work on, so until we refine that, then we can worry more about tier lists.
qwerty Posted March 17, 2012 Posted March 17, 2012 Wanna know the difference between Gundam and Counter-Strike? In Counter-Strike, your teammates will actually listen.
Tari Posted March 17, 2012 Posted March 17, 2012 Odda are it wont drop until maybe like next year when the sequel comes out at full price Sent from my HTC Panache using Tapatalk I suspect that the price drop won't be too significant, either. Maybe $15, maybe less. Well, that's for the JP version. Not sure how Asia region pricing works.

I didn't actually know that Wing Zero was low tier or anything since I haven't seen the tier lists (and I think my choice mains in most fighting games should've made it clear by now that I don't care much about tiers). I was more talking about playing any 3000 cost gundam since I don't want to be a huge burden to whichever team I'm on by, say, dying too often. Still, I appreciate all the feedback, and I think I'm gonna give WZ a more thorough try.
