Urichinan Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 Now that's just hype. I do hope that they aren't console DLC though, I'd hate for them to be included in the arcade version for free, but have to be bought on consoles. I'm very excited to see more playable characters though, I think they're going to make a fantastic addition. Also, did I misread that, or is there going to be two different playable versions of Labrys? (Normal and Shadow)
Starlight777 Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 I like how they announced Labrys as console exclusive and tossed her playable version into the arcade anyway. With her Shadow version becoming playable as well, both Labrys' C and D attacks could make them entirely different characters. But the real question is if plain Labrys has a persona? I'm assuming no for now. I wonder how that's gonna work?

Thanks for putting that unwelcome fear in my head for Elizabeth. I don't think they would do that anyway seeing as the characters will be blatantly finished before the console version. @DevilTrigger plain Labrys C and D attacks might be more normals from her if she has no Persona yet. I still want her to have that Persona from the ending though. Edited March 21, 2012 by Starlight777

Like maybe she has different C and D attacks whenever they glow different colors? Although, from the footage, those just seem like damage buffs. And I love the way Elizabeth's face was drawn in her vs. screen art. (Not character select portrait) The blank look on her face, matched with those beautiful yellow eyes, it's breathtaking. If Labrys were to get different normals based on the glow of her axe, I'd probably end up playing her alongside Teddie. I just love random factors for some odd reason. Yes even when they backfire.
Tari Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 I'd laugh pretty hard if by "console exclusive" they meant that Labrys wouldn't get her persona until the console release.
Starlight777 Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 I'd laugh pretty hard if by "console exclusive" they meant that Labrys wouldn't get her persona until the console release. Shadow Labrys and her giant bull thing would hold people over if that were the case. Speaking of that I find it strange as heck that she's going to be playable too. It almost feels redundant. Almost.
Tari Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 Yeah, I'm surprised Shadow Labrys is getting a playable version, but I suppose since she's a completed character in there, they might as well? /shrug
Ichipoo Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 Scan~ http://www.flickr.com/photos/earlbox/6856096402/And just when I couldn't get more hype for the game.
Chazmobile Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 Man I can't wait to try out Elisabeth. I swear this game has too many characters that I want to play.
syzm Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 If it's (awful word inc.) canon, I expect P3 MC to show up. Elizabeth was out trying to bring him back (or rescue his soul or whatever) during P4. There's also something about placeholder data on the site that suggests it as well.
Tari Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 I'd be surprised if he showed up, honestly. There's nothing so far that suggests Elizabeth was successful, nor that the events in P4U are in anyway related to the P3 MC. Who knows, though. She's had another two months after P4 to try and finish her quest, though, I guess.
Katsu78 Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 It's very true that since Elizabeth is back, her attempts at rezing Minato was either a success, failure, or postponed due to the events of P4A.
Hiroshi Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 4th possibility, the events in P4A (/Midnight Channel?) may be a way to save Minato.
SoWL Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 I swear, if the don't make Elizabeth's theme a long-waited BABYBABYBABYBABYBABYBABYBABY remix, or at least Battle for Everyone's Souls, heads will roll. Also, the whole double playable Labrys deal reminds me of Ky and Robo-Ky. Except that both of them are robots this time.
Tari Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 Also, the whole double playable Labrys deal reminds me of Ky and Robo-Ky. Except that both of them are robots this time. Good point. I suppose that means Shadow Labrys is probably going to be due for her own forum. Was debating the point of creating a new forum for her, since she's, so far, normal Labrys + C/D moves, but it's pretty likely that they'll be different enough. Seeing as how normal Labrys already has a weird axe gauge that her shadow self doesn't (apparently), it wouldn't be a surprise for them to grow further apart. ...and it'd be pretty redundant to have two characters play nearly identically.
Tong Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 It would be a waste to leave a Boss-only full character out of the roster anyway. I like how we won't have to wait a new version for characters, thanks to Nesica.
Bloodcrave Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 Elizabeth?? God I'm so getting this game when it releases, even if it has shitty reviews
Starlight777 Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 All worries about Labrys are laid to rest. She does in fact have her Persona from the ending in her normal playable form.
Siefer Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 I think the fact that Elizabeth is using Thanatos as her persona is sufficient enough to conclude that she was not able to bring back the protagonist. Although this is off-topic, personally, I don't see why so many people want to see P3's protagonist return. If he returns, it will completely eliminate any emotional impact his sacrifice had in P3, and completely go against the obvious theme of P3 (death). I thought Elizabeth's actions were more symbolic on how she can grow attached enough to a human outside of the velvet room, and develop as a person to the point where she would give up everything she has ever known to bring him back, rather than the actual act of bringing him back. If there's any P3 character that could return in this game from a narrative point of view, I'd feel it would actually be Yukari, especially after what happened in FES and her new acceptance and closeness with Aegis. From a gameplay POV though, Yukari would just be a mix of Naoto, Mitsuru, and Yukiko, so I don't see this happening unless they decide to throw in some new twist for her. I think the most likely character we'll see is Margaret honestly.
