Jyosua Posted December 25, 2012 Posted December 25, 2012 Yo Moy, how up-to-date is your list of combos right now? I'm editting the BBCP Jin page on the wiki atm. Trying to get it as far as possible so that when we finally get frame data, we can just make some simple replacements.
Moy_X7 Posted December 25, 2012 Posted December 25, 2012 lol, I didn't even know that the CP wiki pages were up. Basically I'm just adding optimal combos or combos that aren't gonna get any better like the 5B > 5C > 3C > Ice Car or the crouching confirms. What I wanna do this time is just add the "quick combo guide" to the wiki. Much better than listing every single damn combo which not many people have the time or the energy to read over.
Jyosua Posted December 25, 2012 Posted December 25, 2012 The main page for BBCP has been up for a while, but nobody took the time to make the templates for the attack data, so I did. I made the page for Jin and have been editting it to match the data that's in your threads the past few days. You sure about not putting all the combos? The quick guides are fine, but I think it's nice having a navigable wiki for all the data, including all the combos. That way I can click "Combos from A moves" under "Midscreen combos" and find exactly what I want.
Errol Posted December 25, 2012 Posted December 25, 2012 I'm with Moy on this one. too much is overkill, the biggest beneficiaries of these listings are newbies. We want to make it as easy as possible for people to dump their characters and pick up Jin.
Jyosua Posted December 25, 2012 Posted December 25, 2012 I like the way Errol said that. I can see the argument for only wanting to show combo mechanics. I guess at the very least, we can provide a link to the full list of combos.

The quick guides are fine, but I think it's nice having a navigable wiki for all the data, including all the combos. That way I can click "Combos from A moves" under "Midscreen combos" and find exactly what I want. I'll do it for my combo thread and I'll include a link to my thread on the CP Jin wiki combo section. It's like Errol says, we gotta keep newbies in mind since the wiki is there mostly for them. Newbies don't wanna sit there and read every single combo. I visited the Plat combo thread the other day and if I were to put myself in the shoes of a newbie just learning the game, I would be intimidated by such a huge list of combos lol. It's much more convenient for them to just know common combo paths and tweak them as they see fit. For me, and you, and people who want to squeeze a confirm for everything its got, we'll have the comprehensive combo list here in DL.
Errol Posted December 25, 2012 Posted December 25, 2012 A Ragna->Jin migration guide wouldn't be a bad idea for the wiki either.
Jyosua Posted December 25, 2012 Posted December 25, 2012 I sat there and read every single combo. D: But for picking up a character, yeah, combo mechanics are far more important for newbies. Edit: XD Errol's on fire today.
eQualz Posted December 25, 2012 Posted December 25, 2012 I'm all for 'less is more'. Whenever I try to learn a new char I'm looking for basic, simple combos to understand their combo mechanic. I said it before, having a huge pile of information scare new players off, and old players are way too lazy to read through a wall of text. And I'm not sure if we(read: you) should be working on the wiki yet. There's a chance, even though slim, that we don't even get to play the very same version of BBCP by the time we get our hands on it. Plus compiling information solely based on visual sources is not really my thing, but that's just me.
Jourdal Posted December 25, 2012 Posted December 25, 2012 A Ragna->Jin migration guide wouldn't be a bad idea for the wiki either. Nani? Why.......this is extremely odd to me. Merry Christmas Sekkajin mashers @eQualz, i pretty much agree. P4U taught me that lol
Jyosua Posted December 25, 2012 Posted December 25, 2012 I was mostly just getting the formatting done for the wiki page so that it's less of a pain to do it later. Even if it gets patched before we get it, all we'd need to do would be some simple edits versus making the entire page from scratch after it comes out and have that process take weeks. We want the Jin army to take hold as soon as possible, right? Jourdal, I think Errol was joking since Jin is the top tier "basic" character for the game, so all the Swagna players are gonna wanna switch to him. Merry Christmas you guys!
Moy_X7 Posted December 25, 2012 Posted December 25, 2012 I said it before, having a huge pile of information scare new players off, and old players are way too lazy to read through a wall of text. Mmm, I might just listen to this advice. I got a feeling that the amount of people who actually cherry pick combos from that ridiculous combo list are very few. That and it'd be boring to just have everyone do the same thing. We need some originality among ourselves lol. I've decided, I'll get rid of that whole list of individual combos and just go with the tl;dr version. It dramatically lessens the workload for me. I'll just give the readers the fundamentals and they can work on combos on their own. Why should I go to ridiculous lengths when most people are just gonna do their own thing anyways? Besides, instead of worrying about little things like combo theory, we should really be worrying about the match-ups. When CP hits the shores, that's the area which will get a lot of my attention. As for the wiki, I haven't touched it and I don't plan to either until I get my hands on the game. I'm just glad that Jyo has at least set-up the skeleton.
Chris Chaos Posted December 26, 2012 Posted December 26, 2012 Honestly, I agree with most of you. Doing too much w/o access to the game especially when the game could be tweaked when the console version could be a waste if we have to change it for the console format. I'd wait a little bit, it seem a bit too soon to go in on a Wiki ATM.
xlolxlolx Posted December 26, 2012 Posted December 26, 2012 cp jin looks braindead ez in terms of execution so a basic combo guide with different routes sounds good enough
-Kid Posted December 26, 2012 Posted December 26, 2012 (edited) So all the Swagna players are gonna wanna switch to him. Yeah sounds about right. It's already quite evident in Japan. Yutta used to use Ragna, now he uses Jin? Also in my defence I only switch to maining Jin more because ragna bores me shitless....then i saw him in CP... Late merry christmas to all too! Edited December 26, 2012 by -Kid
Jourdal Posted December 26, 2012 Posted December 26, 2012 Yutta plays the good ragna (see my explanation a few pages back) he used Jin in CS2 as well. Most of the true Jin mains stuck with him through out. I'm not really seeing any /new/ strong Jin players. Most of the old guys are popping up in the rankings pretty high, just no video yet. @Errol, whoops. How i thought that was remotely serious is beyond me. I want to see Ren so i know what the easiest but most optimal thing to do in any situation is lol

Mmm, I still think that I will personally make a combo video to help the newbies out. Just to cover the combo paths, the basic confirms and some variations based on confirm type (CH, AA, Crouching, etc.). Originality and variation are fine, and combo mechanics are the most important things, but I think some visual examples help too. I'd like to see some Ren too. I really liked Shirushi before, but he seems to be having more trouble in CP than he did in Extend. O_o Edited December 26, 2012 by Jyosua

Showcase examples of the common combo paths in a video and provide a link to said video in the combo path descriptions.
Jourdal Posted December 26, 2012 Posted December 26, 2012 @Jyo. Shirushii is fine lol. He won the first tachikawa tournament. He lost to hakumen (dumb character) in a recent 3 on 3 that he made the finals with with a 2 man team haha. The mu that bodied him in last weeks tourney was super good. Top 4 Jins atm in terms of ranking: Tetsuwo, Eruo,Ronitta,Ren. I've been looking around at random Jins max damage. Eruo max damage is 8k lol. Some other jin had like...9k? Idk if negative warning counts for max damage though . Only Jin I cant find is Fenrich..because he always changes his name and was rare to begin with.

I think all the matches I've watched him in were ones he lost. Yeah, that Mu bodied the shit out of him and I was like "Man, what happened to you? D:". As far as the max damage is concerned, is that with like 100 meter and overdrive, or? I really want to know under what circumstances Jin can hit someone with 8k. XD
Errol Posted December 26, 2012 Posted December 26, 2012 So many good videos of so many Jins. Still no konan!
Jourdal Posted December 26, 2012 Posted December 26, 2012 They dont specify how, just the damage. It's a mindfuck to see Jin player average damage being 6K or so and ragnas are struggling to break 5.5k lol. You can look for yourself if you're bored enough. http://sp.bbcp.ac/ranking_view.php?mode=exe&type=psr_rank&couse=&charactor=jn&pref=0 @Errol,Konan was there that time Tetsuwo was bodying everyones shit..but he wasn't on the stream station . I also wonder how we'll see Miu Jin...he was that solid Jin from GAME41 but they closed down iirc.
Starlight777 Posted December 26, 2012 Posted December 26, 2012 Friends are trying to convince me to tier whore for once and sub Jin. I don't know how to feel about the suggestion of that.
