Arcade Fire87 Posted February 9, 2012 Posted February 9, 2012 I watched some Lambda vids, some american, a little bit of Emjay, random freakishly good Japanese players...and I'm noticing...outside of locking people in corners and combo's, I see that 5D is RARELY used and used VERY sparingly, if at all. Is this kind of common now? Is 5D kind of a no no now? I haven't been too crazy about the 5D mixups to be honest, it seems more like mindgames to add defensive pressure to players more than really landing a hit I know spacing with those j.2DD has always been huge, but it almost seems to have completely substitued for 5D's large recovery. Am I just completely crazy or am I imagining this?
Overheat Posted February 9, 2012 Posted February 9, 2012 IMO, 5D is only something you'd want to use at 3/4 to fullscreen. 5D mix-up is usually pretty bad, yeah. I think it's more that j.2D is just really good for zoning.
BeaverDeity Posted February 9, 2012 Posted February 9, 2012 j.2DD is usually the better option because it produces a similar effect to 5DD but it can be cancelled with j.214D© on block into other things which makes it a lot less risky than a 5DD. Don't get me wrong, 5D is still a good tool but like Overheat said, it's probably best to use it when the opponent is really far away so that in case it misses you'll have time to recover.

Will post updates when I am finished. Edit: Windows is installing after much delay. I forgot a few cables I need to buy, so I'll pick them up tomorrow. Should be good to go though.
