ShibuyaX Posted August 1, 2008 Posted August 1, 2008 may...im lovin it!!!! Sorry i havent been around recently in the may forums....but im still a strong may player...everyone i play using may and i win they be like dolphin spammer.... anyways got a few questions. im trying to work on moves like chains that end with the dolphin landing right in the opponents grab range for a command grab into loop....and suggestions? also i know a few of those but lets say sometimes i get jabbed out of them...i was thinking in a chain when i end it with a Slash dolphin in the opponent face and i dont wanna go for a command grab would 2k be the best option for a fast followup if the opponent expects me to grab and tries to beat out my move?
cerb0z Posted August 3, 2008 Posted August 3, 2008 would 2k be the best option for a fast followup if the opponent expects me to grab and tries to beat out my move Yes, 2k,2d is best followup off whiffed SHD, coz everyone knows that u'll try OHK them and probably try to jump and lows will beat their attempts. Also, u can try 5HS to CH or get frame advantege to continue pressure.
Frank The Tank Posted August 3, 2008 Posted August 3, 2008 Yes, 2k,2d is best followup off whiffed SHD, coz everyone knows that u'll try OHK them and probably try to jump and lows will beat their attempts. Also, u can try 5HS to CH or get frame advantege to continue pressure. Well, 2P is faster if you're in range. Also, 2D by itself is the same speed as 2K, and it doesn't prorate the way that 2K does, so it's overall a better option provided you're able to hitconfirm it to a FB dolphin. Other good options include 6H>(H)SVD or Airthrow (if they like to jump after you whiff), FBing the Dolphin late (if they like to DP the approach, this will normally CH them, and then they die), or simply jumping after you land and reacting to their response (with j.H if they whiff something, or j.RR FRC shenanigans). Once people get used to the whiff dolphin>OHK, it gets a lot harder, but in the long run, a lot more dangerous for the opponent, as the options you get off of their responses potentially do a lot more damage than the OHK stuff.
Kyle Posted August 4, 2008 Posted August 4, 2008 Good suggestions so far. If I KNOW they will poke, I stick to Ultimate Whiner (63214HS). The invincibility is guaranteed to not get yourself CH. But to each his own ya know. As far as setting up the Whiff SHD/SVD there is one rule of thumb but way to many exceptions to put a finger on it. If you pressure into 5FS and Delay the dolphin usually it will whiff. If your doing a while landing String of J.S, J.HS, 2K, 2S, SVD this will typically whiff. The opponent has WAY too many options to control push-back and space to say that any particularly one is guaranteed. -Most characters have bigger hit-boxes when they crouch, so often crouch and guard= dolphin will not whiff. -Characters have bigger hit boxes when they FD, causes the dolphin not to whiff. -Some characters are just fatass's like Dizzy and Potemkin -IB causes less pushback, this can be a problem. I'm sure you guys get what I'm saying... Johnny guide tomorrow morning, Thanks for your patience guys, Kyle UPDATE Arrgh Where is JO at?
tolore Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 If it makes you feel better blarg I don't hate you for playing may, maybe thats just cuz i win! I've got some stuff i can help you with now though, frank the tank was doing doing stuff to me and i was like 'dang this is the kind of stuff blarg needs to be doing'.
Linuka Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 Wow, so I've been practicing may for the past 7 hours. I'm so sick of her... I'm just having trouble finding ways to get in, besides a hoop set, or running in OHK or 5k... Your May guide is freaking awesome Kyle. It's hard though trying to figure out what works with her against a cpu, I hate fighting them. Hopefully when I head up there you can help me out some, I basically just want to get the basics down so you can toughen me up a bit ^^.
Frank The Tank Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 Hay guys. I'm back from Vegas, and I learned a lot of shit, but none of you guys get it till I wake up.
Kyle Posted August 15, 2008 Posted August 15, 2008 I've got a HUGE gathering this weekend with lots of beer, Curry and SBO footage. I've been looking forward to this for 6 months. On tall opponents wake-up if you TK J.RR with the S button, it's a Cross-up instant overhead. The damage is PATHERTIC but it Can kill. LOL Like this: PlaceHolder LOL FrankieTankie- Great job @ Evo man. You kicked lots of ass. I'm also very impressed with your win against Hellsap as he had the most wins on me over anyone else in the PacificNorthWest. I've got 1.5 hours free time as I wait on my ride. I'm am currently writing the Johnny Guide. I'm am a little distracted by Shawn Johnson and her amazingness, GO USA. UPDATES Shawn Johnson took 2nd in all-around gymnastics Johnny Guide finished, awaiting Johnhy players contributions. SBO BABY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dogysamich Posted August 17, 2008 Posted August 17, 2008 *looks at evo results* ... frankthetank? Wait i know that guy! Good stuff
Kyle Posted August 18, 2008 Posted August 18, 2008 Efute > Endou, Moriyama, Koinuma, M-ya,& Kedako Woooooooooooooooooooooow. I was wrong. No Kedako, and Moriyama didn't perform. =/ UPDATE I miss my GGXX/ Green color. =(
Frank The Tank Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 Efute > Endou, Moriyama, Koinuma, M-ya,& Kedako On that day, yeah, he was. That's all I'm willing to give him. I honestly think it's stll too close to call between Efute, Moriyama(still my fav), and Kedako. Just remember, Efute got bailed out by Dogura twice during SBO.
ArcLord_KisekiU Posted August 23, 2008 Posted August 23, 2008 On that day, yeah, he was. That's all I'm willing to give him. I haven't seen (knowingly anyways) any Efute, but I love Mori's combos and trix, =D.
Chuchulachu Posted August 23, 2008 Posted August 23, 2008 Alright guys 2 questions that's been buggin' me for awhile 1. Why is possible to FRC a vertical dolphin and air dash after an OHK? 2. After an OHK it's possible to do a 5p-SVD....thing is I have no clue how to.. even more, when i DID do it (by luck) i vividly remember not charging a dolphin during the 5P it was more like charge during the OHK, releasing 2 to 5P then 8S for the dolphin....what's that all about?
Capps Posted August 23, 2008 Posted August 23, 2008 1. It's possible b/c the game system allows it (via jump install). In order to do it you need to jump install during the ground portion of the combo before the dolphin. Like this: xx, S, tap up, H, charge down for dolphin, v.dolph, frc, .. at this point you can air dash. (note: H is pressed quick enough so that 'tap up' does not cause a jump) 2. Your explanation for how to do it is correct. Charge down, go to neutral and do your 5P, finish motion with 8S/H for dolphin.
ShibuyaX Posted August 26, 2008 Posted August 26, 2008 yeah im finding it hard to land the loop on people...and when i do land it they burst and it takes forever for me to get another opportunity....
Kyle Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 This will probably come with time and practice. You can get loops off of any hit as long as you have 25% tension. If you are getting bursted that often, start your loops with P, S, SVD. IF they burst just jump cancel. Instant Block the burst, than Start again with a S, HS, SVD. It's a little easier said than done, BUT, once you develop this habit your UNBURSTABLE. Mwahahahahahh ahahahahahaha
ShibuyaX Posted August 28, 2008 Posted August 28, 2008 imma have to practice that p, s dolphin i never really used that lol...but thanks for the tip!
Kyle Posted August 30, 2008 Posted August 30, 2008 May-ABA 3V3 Kyle/FranktheTank/??? vs Moroha/Funkdoc/??? Anyone attending SER-3?
Novix Posted August 30, 2008 Posted August 30, 2008 I'm planning on coming but my level of play isn't near that of yours or FranktheTank's. I know Moroha would destroy me and I haven't seen any vids of Funkdoc. Ugh. I haven't been practicing lately because of the first week of school but I'm trying to find time.
shinquickman Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 There's a chance I can come to SER and Seasons Beatings, but I can't be too sure yet. That'd be awesome, though. All the best Mays in the US on one team!

All the best Mays in the US on one team! When and where are those tourneys? I've got some dust on my GG controller, but Id like some info on it, If its during an easy school week, and its not too far, Id wanna go :o May ftw. :o

Frank The Tank Posted September 10, 2008 Posted September 10, 2008 I don't know if it's going to work out or not, but I'm going to try to make it to both SE-R and SB3.
