koogy Posted July 19, 2007 Posted July 19, 2007 VS BAIKEN: another thing you can do besides run up + throw (ABA's throw range is godly) is to start your chains w/ lows like: 2P>2K>S>2HS>etc ... baiken cant counter against lows Oh and also... AC console version is WHACK... it's kinda good to try stuff out on but... I'm gonna continue going to the arcade cuz yeah... console isnt arcade perfect... :X lol what are you even talking about. baiken can counter against lows hahaha
furix Posted July 19, 2007 Posted July 19, 2007 lol, you both posted at the same time. :x But yeah, I have no idea what made you think baiken can't counter lows, they aren't even real counters, more like guard cancels.
MaxBar! Posted July 19, 2007 Posted July 19, 2007 what??? baiken's gotta be guarding a mid or high to do one of her counter moves... if the motion for her counters is 412 and she's already holding 1 are you saying she just needs to press 2+random button to counter?......... and yeah... as far as the bugs go... go watch the vids on youtube or go read sammy's apology on their jp website... the Wii/US PS2 version is supposed to be arcade perfect i heard...
koogy Posted July 19, 2007 Posted July 19, 2007 no. she does not need to be standing to do counter moves. she has to be in BLOCK STUN to do counter moves. so, low block -> counter becomes hold 1, 412button not to mention 2p is not a low.
Capn' Kunimura Posted July 19, 2007 Posted July 19, 2007 I've been practising with A.B.A a lot lately. It seems to me that her combos don't need that much tension, so should I use it for double keystab set-ups to keep my A.B.A in moroha mode instead?
furix Posted July 19, 2007 Posted July 19, 2007 Yeah, if you find yourself not using her tension much, then go ahead and use it for double keystab set ups instead. Sometimes you'll use tension when doing the rekkas FRC, for some air 41236S pressure, or for her Force Breaks, mainly her force breaks as they are great. A.B.A can do so much with her tension, I find myself that I burn it too much. Her combos might not need tension, but some of her mix ups do. I specially love the projectile in Moroha mode.
Moroha Posted July 20, 2007 Posted July 20, 2007 It seems to me that her combos don't need that much tension, so should I use it for double keystab set-ups to keep my A.B.A in moroha mode instead? It's never a bad idea to do a double keystab setup (unless you can do a different combo that can kill them, durr); at the very least, you're resetting your knockdown gauge and keeping her bloodpacks protected. By the same token, if you're still sitting comfy with 3 bloodpacks, it might be wiser to pocket the tension. As Furix said, A.B.A can do so much with her tension The more you play, the more you'll find ways to spend your tension. Furix mentioned the force breaks; FB Danzai, with the amount of damage you can get for the price you're paying (25% tension, maybe some damage, little risk), is just sick; landing the blockstun on an FB Fireball is either a forced mixup or a pressure restart + guard gauge lols in your favor, and FB Slide in normal mode is an excellent buff for normal mode from /. In addition to what Furix said, you've got the standard Roman Canel. You can mess around with RCing Danzais, Rekkas for pressure restarts, Houshokus (Butt), and, of course, the unblockable.
Capn' Kunimura Posted July 22, 2007 Posted July 22, 2007 Alright, I think I got it. If I'm low on Moroha meter and there's tension to spare I should go for double keystab, but I shouldn't be afraid to use tension for her force breaks, FRCs and normal RCs. I will keep this in mind. By the way, I can't get the timing right for 41236S FRC. Any hints?
furix Posted July 22, 2007 Posted July 22, 2007 Make sure to practice it while the move is actually hitting, as that is when you will usually be doing the FRC. The timing is slightly different that way(easier). Other than that, not much tips to give, but that the FRC point is kind of at around the end of the move, much like I-No's Chemical Love I think? Just keep practicing it, it isn't that hard of an FRC.
Ceirnian Posted July 22, 2007 Posted July 22, 2007 Best bet to FRC konsetsu is to wait to the point where you think the move is over, then when your brain tells you "hey you messed up it's too late!" try hitting the frc. Really you have to wait longer than you would think since I think most of us are use to hitting an rc after the move itself hits (or really really close to it).
Rinsuku Posted August 27, 2007 Posted August 27, 2007 That 669 thing is really hard for me to pull off.. maybe I'm doing something wrong?
furix Posted August 27, 2007 Posted August 27, 2007 Maybe, it shouldn't be as hard to pull off though, just make sure you are doing the motion correctly and don't panic. Just keep practicing it, practice doing it even when not doing the combo, you'll notice the difference of a running jump and a normal jump.
Kurumster Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 I was having the same problem for a couple of days, but I noticed that i was doing it in situations where it wasn't possible to be done to continue a combo.
Rinsuku Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 What about oki? Usually I just Danzai/FB Danzai. How about some mix-up?
Tage*Proto Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 in the corner and after a combo, IAD late 41236+s is fantastic oki. As well as 2d from max range or a simple run up throw in most cases. Damn, did anybody represent A.B.A. at EVO?
Rinsuku Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 Probably not.... What about her air game? Is it good? Is j.Hs good for her air game?
Tage*Proto Posted September 7, 2007 Posted September 7, 2007 Her air game is good, but not superior really. j.hs is good just because of the size of the hitbox and the way it swings.
Moroha Posted September 7, 2007 Posted September 7, 2007 What about oki? Usually I just Danzai/FB Danzai. How about some mix-up? :o Her Oki is pretty strong. Not like, Millia strong, but really fucking good because: A. It means you got a knockdown of some sort, which probably means they're around 50%.. B. It sets you up to murder that other 50% from their bar. Rarely use Danzai on wakeup. It's okay if it's someone you've never fought before to find out how they respond to it. You want to stick with 2H on wakeup for your unthrowable option. Your mixup moves are 2K at the beginning of a string, with 2D D or Kashitsu later in a string. You've also got a meaty j.S, which can be jump cancelled for more mixups and is greater than reversal SRKs, and as Tage*Proto said, orbs on wakeup will catch people offguard too. Time it well and don't get hit so your counterhit goes to waste. (And if you meant wakeup instead of oki..FB slide is also good on wakeup.) Damn, did anybody represent A.B.A. at EVO? http://dustloop.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3296&page=2 I don't see either Combofiend or Poon, who I'm pretty sure were America's best ABAs in Slash. Hopefully I'll be going next year What about her air game? Is it good? Is j.Hs good for her air game? j.HS is sick. If you hit someone on the ground when you're too high with it, you'll get thrown. It can get airthrown sometimes. (But other times you'll run that man over). That being said, it's HUUGE and leads to one of your two/three hits you need on hit or counterhit. j.S is really good too as mentioned before. Orbs are solid both on offense for messing with timing, catching backdash etc, and on defense for covering the ground behind you if you need space and run away. j.D also isn't that bad, gives you a combo on CH, and also on normal hit if you're in the corner. use j.P and j.K if you meet someone in the air and need a close attack, they're not bad and you can alternate between them.
Tage*Proto Posted September 7, 2007 Posted September 7, 2007 Moroha if possible you should go to O Squared or to NEC. I'll be going to both and I'd like to finally see another american ABA in AC besides my own lol.
Moroha Posted September 8, 2007 Posted September 8, 2007 I'm going to be at SE-R2, and probably NEC. possibly O Squared.
Helter Skelter Posted September 9, 2007 Posted September 9, 2007 Is anyone here(excluding me), willing and qualified. To make a PROPER AC guide? Similar to the one made by Dr.Stormlocke, in the Robo-Ky thread?
Helter Skelter Posted September 10, 2007 Posted September 10, 2007 I'm on it. Coolio. Try and make it similar to Stormlocke.
furix Posted September 10, 2007 Posted September 10, 2007 just saw this post(haven't been online). Cool to see you getting started on the guide, i'll sticky it later after I give it a read.
