Iksose Posted April 3, 2008 Posted April 3, 2008 What are the key things I should focus on when learning ABA?
excelence Posted April 4, 2008 Posted April 4, 2008 double key grab, don't whore Danzai, j.hs on Moroha mode, always block low & expect for an overhead
Veven Posted April 4, 2008 Posted April 4, 2008 Are there any good double-hit orb setups besides 421H RC? Or ways to use the extra untechable time on the rear orb?
Tage*Proto Posted April 8, 2008 Posted April 8, 2008 There's weird situations where the orb wil hit twice, I tend to get it most after certain knockdowns, dash jump, after crossing them while they rise, delayed orb. A lot of times this leads to a double hit, is really meaty, and hurts like fuck.
Moroha Posted April 8, 2008 Posted April 8, 2008 Yeah, if you knockdown the other guy in the corner with say 2D, you dash jump and either; 1. j.S, JC j.S 2. j.S, land, 2K 3. Empty jump-in throw 4. Orbs FRC into mixup 5. Delayed Orbs into whatever the fuck you want Delayed orbs is fucking awesome because it'll catch people trying to throw you (You're still in the air, so they'll get a 6HS) with an unprorated CH 2x orbs. Follow up the delayed dj.Orbs with a 5S, since it's easy to confirm hit or block and continue as necessary from there.
Zoogstin Posted April 8, 2008 Posted April 8, 2008 after a 2D you can also run up and do a wiffed 2HS (FRC) into throw.
Moroha Posted April 9, 2008 Posted April 9, 2008 But that goes for pretty much any ABA oki situation. What makes 2D knockdown special is the time it gives you the perfect easyish timing to perform the dj mixup. You get it off butt knockdowns too, but since you have a wider gap it's easier to fuck up.
Tage*Proto Posted April 9, 2008 Posted April 9, 2008 I really like 2d, FB fireball. It's just nasty, sets up perfect UB, just good stuff off of it. I didn't even think of the DJ set-ups from it though, will have to start doing those, thanks Seth.

Im gonna take my money back from you!
iora Posted May 3, 2008 Posted May 3, 2008 hey, question im using ABA now as a fun alternate character... which is now because i can actually input her rekkas ^_^ but anyways goku moroha, while i know isnt that great... it IS fun if im trying to activate it, does it have any kind of reversal property i should be going for (since it does a hit and has some invul frames i think) or should i just chain it into a combo (ex: 236s 46s 63214s you can goku mode while in corner, and itll OTG a hit for safetys) ?
Moroha Posted May 3, 2008 Posted May 3, 2008 It's got invincibility. For instance, if you're pretty sure someone is going to punish you in between your swings in danzai, you can do 1 hit danzai string into Goku Moroha activate. You'll be invincible, and the move's hitbox will cause the stagger for a combo.
Mechanica Posted May 4, 2008 Posted May 4, 2008 You can supercancel danzai? EDIT: Oh, well I guess that's the only ground super she has in moroha mode and you can do it out of pretty much everything, right? Dumb question.
Keizion Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 Ok I have 2 questions. 1. Does anyone else notice the knockdown bar get lowered when you attack or am i just crazy/uninformed? 2. What the hell are my Oki options aside from EX-bloodball? Thanks in advance
fabiano Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 You can supercancel danzai? EDIT: Oh, well I guess that's the only ground super she has in moroha mode and you can do it out of pretty much everything, right? Dumb question. Yes this super cancels everything- but to me it's a "do not use" thing. And Keizion: -Yes the Moroha bar get lower when you attack, and it's worst when your in goku moroha -Ex-bloodball? personally I only use it in the corner, or before an unblockable(41236K). Else you should rely on j.S/orbs FRC/rekka -From midscreen you should try IAD, j.S,j.H,j.D,orbs+669 j.S...be careful to your opponents weigth, practice it on everyone If you try j.S,j.H,orbs you need a FRC, in order to make contact. But it's a weight matter again.
Keizion Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 i must be missing something then because when i try those IAD combos sometimes the orbs are just barely above ground lol and othertimes i just get the 1st hit of the rekkas. i must be screwing up the IAD because i'm not high enough to put j.D in there
fabiano Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 Oh, sorry my bad, from mid-screen 2D,AID,j.H,j.D is enough (no need for 2S). Practice it on Potemkin is the easier way to get us of it. I rather this combo, it deals more damages than j.2S,j.H... PS: it won't work on too heavy charac.(Eddie, Ky,Johnny) unless Potemkin.
Moroha Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 2. What the hell are my Oki options aside from EX-bloodball? http://dustloop.com/forums/showpost.php?p=169797&postcount=4 Please read the 101 FAQ, it goes over her primary oki options.
Josh Ballard Posted June 6, 2008 Posted June 6, 2008 Something I thought of: Is it just me, or do you actually not want to use the S+HS option select for throws? 5H has less recovery than 5S, and it's got that bit at the end that can hit jumpers.
Josh Ballard Posted June 7, 2008 Posted June 7, 2008 Any other aba players planning on MWC? yepppppppp and just learned that someone else in my town plays this game so i'll even be able to practice up! may or may not be my first tournament with ABA
