Blade Posted April 28, 2012 Author Posted April 28, 2012 I'm not sure where I heard this, but didn't somebody say Tager was the "intentional bottom tier" of BlazBlue? And despite that he still rocks hard? I don't see why that logic couldn't be applied to Potemkin.
Circuitous Posted April 28, 2012 Posted April 28, 2012 (edited) Please stop saying things that are impossibly stupid, it gives me a headache. This is not an invitation to further derail the thread, this is a warning to think before you post and not drag things off-topic. If we have to delete another page of Blade being called an idiot I'll just close the thread. Edit: To actually answer your question: developers don't determine tiers, Tager doesn't rock hard, and the "logic" you want to apply to Potemkin isn't actually logic. Potemkin can't be "intentional bottom tier" without removing or rendering useless several of his extremely powerful tools. Edited April 28, 2012 by Circuitous
destruction_adv Posted April 28, 2012 Posted April 28, 2012 people never likes a good grappler if anything they should buff the health of chipp instead of nerfing potemkin also give me the ability to teleport in air :D I want this, but I don't see it happening, only because both would be too good. I'd take higher health over air teleport though.
Redgrave Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 Give Potemkin rocket boots and vulcan cannons built into his massive pecs.
Dont_Explain Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 Although I haven't played GG yet, I rather have Chipp where he is. It'll force me to learn from mistakes (even if I die from one mistake cause lol Chipp defense) and it'll be more satisfying when I win. Besides, Chipp has movement options for days. Isn't the whole idea of Chipp to not get hit in the first place?
qwerty Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 Isn't the whole idea of Chipp to not get hit in the first place? Yep. As silly as it sounds, you can't afford to make a single mistake as Chipp. That being said, Chipp's mixups are stupid as hell and lead into more stupid mixups. Not to mention he has a good matchup against both Eddie and Testament, whereas most characters only have a good matchup against one of them.

I've seen so many vids where the Chipp was doing fine then like one thing went wrong and 2-3 combos later he dies. I'll be fine doing low damage compared to others and dying fast since I got mixups. I like what I see already (Except Slayer and May....they look pretty derp.) and will play the game as is. Again, it will only be that much tastier when I beat a good player.
Hecatom Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 (edited) believe me, as much as i love playing chipp (14 years maining him), a little buff on his health would be very apreciated, yes, ac chipp is the best chipp so far, but a little buff wouldnt hurt, imo the other part of my post was a joke, that would be too good, lol btw be prepared to get frustrated, winning consistently with chipp takes time, since you need to have a good knowledge of the matchups Edited April 30, 2012 by Hecatom
qwerty Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 (Except Slayer and May....they look pretty derp.) I'm convinced Slayer exists solely to teach new players how to instant block. As for May, just don't jump (well, for most characters, at least. Poor Chipp has to jump).
Dont_Explain Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 (edited) Yeah I hear alot of "Chipp is not an easy road" type of stuff. I already know I'm gonna get frustrated, but I just find Chipp too damn fun looking. I wish I had actual questions for the Chipp forums instead of "Hey, I saw this on a video. It looked dumb and took 60% of Chipp's life. How do I stop it?", but it seems like that's a lot what I need to know for Chipp: What to look out for and make sure they can never hit me with it. The rest seems to be rape them j.2K FDC and teleport FRC mixups. Edit: I didn't mean May, I meant Jam......That damage. Not sure how I got them confused. Edited April 30, 2012 by Dont_Explain

I'ma get destroyed, but at least I'll have fun doing it.
Blade Posted April 30, 2012 Author Posted April 30, 2012 If Chipp had more jump-install options I'd say he'd be better for it. Give him stronger air options.

They're pretty similar in their derpiness, haha. They both have tons of damage, but yeah Jam's definitely a good beginner mode character. Jam v. Chipp is odd though, because Chipp has a lot of close-range pokes that will beat out a lot of stuff Jam does! He just...doesn't want to be close to her. At all.
Dont_Explain Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 (edited) So like 236S>S I can just stop with something like 5k or 5HS? I'll say it definitely looks easy to run from her, but the second she touches Chipp he dies. Edited April 30, 2012 by Dont_Explain Sounded silly
Redgrave Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 Honestly I'm just looking forward to not having to reset my copy of AC+ ten hundred times before it starts running.
BladeOfJustice7 Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 So like that move where it sounds like Jam yells out "Juxtaposition!" and dashes forward I can just stop with something like 5k or 5HS? I'll say it definitely looks easy to run from her, but the second she touches Chipp he dies. Isn't that like every chipp matchup? And when does she say juxtaposition? I've never heard of that before.

I honestly don't know what she is saying. I just know it starts with a J and it sounds like "position" is in there. Edit: It's 236S>S. I should just go to training and just mess around with commands to figure out what's what. I forgot they don't say the same thing for every character. Like if she does that to Slayer, she says something else I don't understand. If she does it to Chipp you get what I heard, or whatever else you might hear out of that. Amadeus46Art Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 She's saying "Hyappo Shinshou" which is the name of the move. "Senri Shinshou" is the one that she dashes past you and comes back. The force break version is also "Hyappo Shinshou" though. I think the only time a character gets specific voice sets is I-No v. Sol or Order-Sol, she'll use voice set C/boss voice set. ANYWAY. I'm curious about what some good Bridget/Johnny players think their characters need, or why those characters are a lower tier. I just don't know enough about either of the characters to talk about how they can be brought up to match the other characters in tier.

qwerty Posted May 1, 2012 Posted May 1, 2012 I'm curious about what some good Bridget/Johnny players think their characters need, or why those characters are a lower tier. I just don't know enough about either of the characters to talk about how they can be brought up to match the other characters in tier. The reason Johnny is low tier in AC is simply because he has to take bigger risks than everyone else. He has good pokes, but many of them have long recovery which makes him one of the easiest characters to whiff punish in the game. This is actually how Johnny has been in every Guilty Gear, but in AC he doesn't have the safe midscreen pressure he did in Slash thanks to Jackhound now being a forcebreak. Like I said earlier, realistically speaking you can't give Johnny a significant buff without drastically changing his matchups. But, that's ok, because he doesn't need anything big. Auto JI on Killer Joker from transport is a must, as well as changing the input for Mist Stance Dash Jackhound from 66 214D to just 66 D. Those two changes alone would make him a much more manageable character to play. Even as someone with good execution, I occasionally miss both of those, and I've seen some of the best Johnny players (namely Satou) miss them as well. If I had to make one significant change to Johnny though, I'd definitely make the hitbox on his f.S hit just a bit lower. Not low enough to hit a crouching May or anything, but low enough so that it won't intermittently whiff over anything like it currently does against some crouches, runs and low profile moves.
M.Song Posted May 1, 2012 Posted May 1, 2012 asking for an easier input on your move? who do you think johnny is... dizzy? and pretty sure every bridget player wants 5 hit punching bear back
qwerty Posted May 1, 2012 Posted May 1, 2012 Anything to make his confirms easier is a good thing in my book. It's not like he's getting that damage for free, anyways.
destruction_adv Posted May 1, 2012 Posted May 1, 2012 I only really played GG on psp before, now that I'll be able to play on my arcade stick I wanna try either Millia or Chipp. I like having mobility, even when I don't do high damage. I'm not too used to low health though (Bang's health is good, and everyone has the same life in SG.)
