Moy_X7 Posted May 12, 2012 Posted May 12, 2012 I was like... I whiffed 5D (Bat)? 5D again I IB'd DS at that distance? 5B it is He's too far away for any more moves to connect and I IB'd the last one? 5B it is He's going to use 5B and I'm at the perfect range to low profile it with 2B? 2B it is IB > CDT/Yukikaze lololol
Rhiya Posted May 12, 2012 Posted May 12, 2012 Half of it is salt but the other half I'm honestly confused as fuck how buttons just work in this game. Like I was just at a lost for words half the matches. If you're that confused, you really should go back, look at your pressure strings, and try to understand what's safe, what's DP-able, and what's mashable, in addition to what pressure strings are used for what purpose (frametrap, mixup, gaining respect, etc.). That's like the only thing good about my Ragna; I actually understand what does what in pressure. Everything else about my Ragna is shit.

We both were just disrespecting each other at least 75% of the time, whether it was a string made for respect or not.
Moy_X7 Posted May 12, 2012 Posted May 12, 2012 No Dusk, some of this shit was stupid. Ragna: "Hmmmm....I'm minus after 2D.....I should mash DP!" *Works* Platinum: Hmmmm He's doing a combo, but I have magic bats....lets mash! He'll drop it! *works* Just mash and win. Don't even think. Err... that's pretty legit actually. If you're minus then the obvious answer would be to DP, more power to you if you have the meter to RC. Do it once, then wait for me to bait it next time and use that to your advantage. DPs are just another way to mindfuck someone. As for me mashing Bat, if I IB something then I'm mashing the hell out of it since it's a 1-button reversal lol. If I whiff then I still mash it. What? You think I'm just gonna sit there and either let you punish me or start your own pressure? lol
Dont_Explain Posted May 12, 2012 Posted May 12, 2012 Moy you were like 20 feet away from me when I did that 2D then ID. That was a combination of ID being amazing and just absolute derp. That was not legit.
BatousaiJ Posted May 12, 2012 Posted May 12, 2012 It frightens me how well Hell's Fang 1 hit blocked > DP works on everyone. As for mashing bat DP, what's a good punish after you bait it and block it? She seems to recover awfully fast for anything that isn't 'A' related.
Chris Chaos Posted May 12, 2012 Posted May 12, 2012 Err... that's pretty legit actually. If you're minus then the obvious answer would be to DP, more power to you if you have the meter to RC. Moy_X7 Posted May 12, 2012 Posted May 12, 2012 (edited) Moy you were like 20 feet away from me when I did that 2D then ID. That was a combination of ID being amazing and just absolute derp. That was not legit. It may not be legit to you but it worked. I was like "Why does ID have some much range!?" lol Oh yeah, I don't mash Bat during your own combos, that's just dumb. I mash A until I tech, then I use whatever I see fit. If you're recovering from something then I do j.B/j.C, if I feel like you're going to beat me with whatever then I use the Bat. In the same way, if you drop a combo then you should DP, you'd be surprised how often it works. Then you get them to bait it and you use that against them, blah, blah. DPs are a powerful tool when used right, you condition people and you get out of tight spots. Win-win lol @Shin - there are way too many Rags that either go even with me or straight up demolish me but the ones that are usually active are Jason and Mash, pretty sure that Batou and you could go either even or beat me more often than not. Errol Posted May 12, 2012 Posted May 12, 2012 Right, You have to understand that Moy is doing that stuff BECAUSE he's thinking. If you know he's doing it, you can intentionally drop the combo somewhere and punish it. With a jump cancel, or after something that recovers quickly, whatever.

This. along with that, smaller combos actually work on smarter players. For instance, we get hit with a BnB starter that should do 2.5 or 3K and you cut it short, the smarter player's mindset will be on the optimal combo and there would be a chance that you will sneak a hit in and net better damage. It happens quite a bit but it works if you do it at random.
Dont_Explain Posted May 12, 2012 Posted May 12, 2012 I like how we can somehow justify this derp, but everyone else on netplay is just netplay. How do we know they don't have some master plan for exposing people through weird gimmicks?
Moy_X7 Posted May 12, 2012 Posted May 12, 2012 It looks like no one read my last post so here it goes again lol Oh yeah, I don't mash Bat during your own combos, that's just dumb. How do we know they don't have some master plan for exposing people through weird gimmicks? People can tell who the smart players are and who aren't by the way they play. Dumb does work but to an extent, if you play dumb and fool the other player then pull off your smart shit, the derp in the match can be justified, and Moy has been making a name for himself being a strong Jin in CT, he knows the game well so if he's derping all over your face, it's because he knows you are going to allow him to. Do things that will force him to play you straight up and take advantage of the situation but playing Moy in a straight up fight is a challenge in itself. Have fun with that, I know I do lol!

I'd have to say I was doing decent before like 4 or 5 matches in, when my fucks went out the window. So I don't know what you guys are talking about.

Dude, I'm not a great Ragna Player, but for some reason, people have been saying I'm one of the best Which is the Biggest Lie EVER, I got called out for it and won my matches because of how stupid Ragna is and it made me drop Ragna almost completely when people said my Ragna was better than my Jin. I like the character and he's fun but when people start confusing my "Have Fun Times w/ Ragna" as solid play, something is wrong... Not accusing you of it because I'm sure we've had this talk before but I though I'd bring it up again.
Moy_X7 Posted May 12, 2012 Posted May 12, 2012 Come on D_E, you're playing Rags. That battle should be way the hell uphill for me with either of my characters lol. You know why you were losing though, right? I was looking for your mash and random DPs while I was pushing buttons where I thought they would beat you. There are three instances where I would mash: - Mashing A to tech out during air combos, if I tech then I stop mashing unless I don't react to the tech animation on time. - During jab pressure and even then I'm not even mashing them. I keep track of the number of jabs, dash in and reset. - If I have the bat and IB something. If I whiff it or it gets blocked then I'll use Bat again. Not really mashing there though. Like I told Lich the other day, people need to know the difference between dumb mash and abare.
Dont_Explain Posted May 12, 2012 Posted May 12, 2012 I was only losing cause 5B>5C is easy as balls to IB. Just DP and you're out. Pretty much the only way to avoid that is either not doing anything afterwards (5C is like -8 after IB), or just 5B and do nothing. Just stay in the right distances and play lame. It only looks uphill cause all that damage from one mistake.
Dr.Patient Posted May 12, 2012 Posted May 12, 2012 Loving the mu hate these days... Keep the tears flowing! They sustain meeee I know mu is really good or whatever, but I find her, and lamby to easiest characters to fight, I almost never have problem fighting them, the hardest part is getting to them, once I do, they're in the corner for almost the rest of the match.

I'm over here playing Advanced Noob's Ragna and he's playing him like he should be played and I'm not winning a single match. DPs when I'm + from a bomb/missile, stagger pressure into 2C > pressure reset, abusing the hell outta j.C cuz there's not much I can do about it at certain angles, etc. Damn, my keyboard batteries are dying, brb
Dont_Explain Posted May 12, 2012 Posted May 12, 2012 Resetting pressure with 2C works, but only so often since a lot of times you have to dash forward afterwards to get more pressure. I did DP when you did triple missiles. and j.C is amazing yes, but I swear every other Ragna in the world seems to always have you guys just sitting there not pressing buttons or moving. Press buttons like you would against me and I bet it works.
OmegaBankai Posted May 12, 2012 Posted May 12, 2012 Man this rust is really bad. Ugh, gotta train more.

Dont_Explain Posted May 12, 2012 Posted May 12, 2012 Yeah I know, but apparently I'm expected to have some scary pressure. Most of his stuff is frame traps for mashing and upback. If you can condition them to block that stuff, then you could throw or 6B them. But there is no "Drag you across the screen" pressure (We got combos for that :p)
A.X.I.S. Posted May 12, 2012 Posted May 12, 2012 I just want to say that in my hay day 5B>5C was terrible to use. Ragna 5C is -5 iirc too.
Rhiya Posted May 12, 2012 Posted May 12, 2012 Yeah I know, but apparently I'm expected to have some scary pressure. Most of his stuff is frame traps for mashing and upback. That's obvious, I know, but I say a lot of obvious shit and then turn around and don't apply it while I'm playing. Just give less fucks and be less afraid. Mix people up the second you know they're not hitting buttons. GET IMPATIENT. If they block one string, mixup harder. Don't play the same game with them the entire time, or you're not gonna hit them. Ragna is about just hitting people. Understand that, and your life becomes so much easier.
