That's it - I don't know anything in this game anymore - everything I know and do is just wrong and I don't know anything about playing right.

Star, once you start not giving a damn about how you play and just play to the best of your ability, you start to really improve.

go fix it then?

Are you feeding star attention?

God dammit LK.

Shame on the rest of you too because none of you fucks are helping at all.

You can't just tell a guy with low confidence in his game to get good.

It's something he has to work on by himself, if he thinks he is getting better or has the innate drive to get better then let him go through the channels.

There are videos and threads he can be reading, he has matches of himself recorded.

All you guys, let him do it himself.

Because the only person that can make him play better is himself.

... and that's the end of that lol

I fixed it wrong.

The secret to becoming a better player is to "get good"

zounds.

U Mad?

Oh yeah.

Nah but seriously, the biggest barrier to your success is the psychological one that you're setting for yourself. Negative attitude leads to negative outcomes.

I cannot tell you how hard it is to choke down a blowup and try to tell myself "it's okay" after just failing to do basic stuff and repeating the same basic mistakes I've been trying to not do anymore. I get built up a lot by sandbagging and I just crash on my face, and it's really hard to just take constant small ups and then really, REALLY humiliating blowups.

Just look at Ethereal, he was probably just as bad as you are now but he never had a negative attitude and he has now become one of the better Ragnas. Well that or maybe it's just EX Ragna that's pulling him through lololol. Nah, he really has gotten much better.

If he's actually as bad as me then it's definitely just Ragna.

You're late to the party. It isn't so bad once you get used to it.

I'm not THAT beta.

Star, once you start not giving a damn about how you play and just play to the best of your ability, you start to really improve.

Best of my ability is Shit. I guess it can ONLY get better, if it does change, but I really want to just see a really permanent "never again" step up instead of a small "I think I learned this better and can avoid this happening better" and then "oh, wait, he spent a whole match blowing me up just that. Guess I was wrong"

It's drives me nuts, I'm at the point where people are annoyed that I'm saying they are sandbagging every single match.

Garbageday just blew me up with nothing but CAT STICK AND DASHGRAB.

Even an idiot can beat those two. Why?!?!

Anyone played a Tsubaki on PSN by the name of Star_platinum?

They joined my room, and half way through a game they quit, and I dunno if the connection dropped or they RQ because I was playing Valk. Pretty sure it wasn't a RQ tbh.

GGs to people I played tonight. Valks got a *little* better. Connection issues really hinder him though, especially trying to transform mid-combo. Sometimes it doesn't do it at all, and I drop cawmboz because of it.

Also shoutouts to my friend who was trying to get me to talk about //versus with him when I was trying to netplay. I have no interest in the game at all, you faggot.

Err... there's always going to be someone who's better than you at a certain point. XDest, LK, TD, and some other better players blow me the fuck up. Doesn't mean I'm gonna cry about it, it just means that I'll try and learn from mistakes and keep on polishing my existing skills. There's nothing wrong with getting blown up; it's all part of the learning process and it's one of the things that comes with playing fighting games. Some people are just going to completely dominate you at some point and you have to learn to deal with that and not allow it to bring you down.

If he's actually as bad as me then it's definitely just Ragna.

Key word: was. He's much better now, I used to troll him back in my worst days but he has improved so much that trying to troll him will cost me the match. It's not just Ragna at work here; I've played countless Ragnas and most don't compare to his current self.

There you go, negative attitude. Find out exactly what is giving you trouble, record it, and deal with it in training mode. For me, you'd have to find a way to deal with Jin 5B corner cross-up since that gets you blown up. There are a number of things that you can do to deal with that...

A. React to it and block it

B. Yomi air throw

Just really narrow down what's giving you trouble and dissect in training mode and don't give me some shit like "everything's giving me trouble".

Garbageday just blew me up with nothing but CAT STICK AND DASHGRAB.

I love how you had to bold his name like that lol. Cat stick is a legit poke and it works as a long range instant overhead. Dash grab... let's just say that you need to work on your reactions, or your prediction if you can't handle the former at this point. If you feel that he's going to dash grab you then just do OS tech trow.

You act like he's just trying to mind his own business and everyone's just jumping down his throat, when it's more like we're just talking when he randomly jumps out of nowhere and runs naked through the streets trying to catch everyone's attention.

When a kid acts out for attention, and you can't backhand his little ass, what's the next best thing?

Ignore him.

Out of curiosity, how long has star been playing bb in general?

I think he's been at it for around a year now.

Edit: or not, lol

The amount of time you play doesn't mean anything if your methods are wrong.

It's like trying to get buff by eating nothing but cheeseburgers.

I haven't given up hope on the backhanding yet.

Same

We'll make him understand at one point or another. He's not giving up and that in itself holds a bit of merit. He just needs to try harder.

well... im usually an optimistic person but i think at this rate were we going as a collective bb community, things are slowing down in active play a hell of alot and ppl are branching out into other games and leaving less attentions and fucks about bb to the point that it questions why try to get better now with P4U around the corner and GG along the way with everyones attention. otherwise ppl just poppin in the game just to press buttons for the time being. i can see why star is not positive about the situation cuz ppl sandbag all day these days and if he cant even compare to sandbag skills then anyone would guess he has a very long way to go. even i would wonder why try if my skills isnt enough to even hang with sandbagging ppl. just saying _-_

We still have the sequel to Continuum Shift and its numerous (and inevitable) expansions and revisions so don't count BB out just yet. BB will always be my main game (or until it really, truly dies), playing other games will not deter my will to play BB in the slightest. At this point, I'm actually forcing myself to play other fighting games. KoF XIII for now and GG in the future since they're some of the few games that gets played around here offline and I absolutely do not like Capcom fighting games any more. If people actually played BB offline in Indy, then I really wouldn't play any other fighting games. That's just me though, I've really grown to love BB for some reason lol.

Perhaps. Well for star all i can say is if you get frustrated in bb just take a deep breath, open a red bull, down it fast, smile and say.... swag. then you will fly with wings......eventually.

Posted (edited)

You were grinding like hell on KOF in the morning Moy, i was surprised but satisfied.

EDIT: @Star: that's PROBABLY around the same time i took BB serious. i didn't get into this until late CS, if you want to get good set a pace for yourself. Just go into training mode and practice whatever comes into mind.
