Myoro Posted December 23, 2014 Posted December 23, 2014 I've heard nothing incredibly solid in terms of tier lists, but from the data I have seen I think it might go something like this: S: Hazama, Nu, Azrael (?), Carl (?) A: Ragna, Haku, Taokaka, Bang, Relius, Valk, Jin, Mu (?) B: Tsubaki, Makoto, Noel, Tager, Izayoi, Litchi (?), Platinum, Lambda (?) C: Amane, Arakune, Celica, Terumi D: Rachel, Bullet, Kokonoe, Kagura I put question marks next to those who may have been put one tier too high, but considering the info I've collected this seems pretty accurate. Anyone with more official tier lists feel free to step in...

Airk Posted December 23, 2014 Posted December 23, 2014 Wait, when did Litchi get not good? The only meaningful nerf I've heard for her is that the staff now drops to the ground if she gets hit while not holding it? Which is like, the most fair thing ever, and frankly, doesn't seem like that big a deal with all the other nonsense she still has.

But the non return thing also hurts her defensively not being able to access her DP very easily. It also makes her switching between modes harder and riskier, which affects her whole playstyle. Once you throw your stick you never know if or when you'll get it back. I remember there being more stuff that validated that placement, although I don't quite remember all of it. For one thing her [e]6A is only special cancel-able now and they nerfed CT starter rate among other things.
Airk Posted December 23, 2014 Posted December 23, 2014 Awesome! Further proof for my statement that there's no such thing as a character that will always be good 'because of their design'. StylisH and heavymetalmixer 2

Airk Posted December 24, 2014 Posted December 24, 2014 Honestly, I doubt Kokonoe is actually that low, it's probably just people throwing temper tantrums that she's not awesome anymore.Similarly, Litchi sounds like she still has twice the tools of certain other characters that are ranked in B tier, so her ranking that low still seems suspect/whining based.
Justice7541 Posted December 24, 2014 Posted December 24, 2014 Awesome! Further proof for my statement that there's no such thing as a character that will always be good 'because of their design'. Hazama's still S tier, at least according to that list.

Litchi will be fine. Now she'll just have to be more wary of mashing and staff launch options, which is how it should've been from jump street. That list is kind of puzzling to me though.
Airk Posted December 24, 2014 Posted December 24, 2014 Hazama's still S tier, at least according to that list. Most people would tell you he usually has only been A. :PBut just because one character doesn't get correctly tuned doesn't mean his "design" is magic, in spite of what people seem to believe. Give him only one chain stock and see how good he is then. Give him landing recovery off some of his chain followups and see how good he is THEN. Remove some of the dopey frame advantage on his normals and see how good he is then. None of this changes his "design" in the slightest. heavymetalmixer 1
StylisH Posted December 29, 2014 Posted December 29, 2014 What is the reason regarding such a low opinion of Kokonoe? I missed the update notes so I have no clue....
LaowPing Posted December 29, 2014 Posted December 29, 2014 What is the reason regarding such a low opinion of Kokonoe? I missed the update notes so I have no clue.... Koko is still a strong character. Some people seem to think she's low due to almost no one playing her anymore. It's not that she's bad, everyone else is just more interesting now. Take Tetsuo for example. He used to main Kokonoe but he switched back to Jin because he finds the new Jin interesting.

I see....do they have a list of changes anywhere? I'm going to be subbing Koko in 2.0 and I can't find info anywhere...

I have yet to find a accumulative list of changes but the Kokonoe section of character discussions should have people talking about them.
StylisH Posted December 29, 2014 Posted December 29, 2014 Idk, I've looked there, but I can't find 'em. It's cool though, have to go back to the #R days and just grind through training mode.
Arcus Diabolus Posted December 29, 2014 Posted December 29, 2014 I'm sorry, I'm still giggling like a child over the mere concept that Koko just went D tier. I almost can't believe it. I'm sort of happy, but I wouldn't wish that fate on anyone. Sort of a blend between sadistic satisfaction and pity. Also, somehow or another Tsubaki, Izayoi, Tager and Makoto all managed to scrap themselves off the bottom of the barrel and get up to B tier? I'm just waiting for the day all the characters in a fighting game live in at most 2 tiers. Did we grow a tier with D or am I just imagining it?

Izayoi is definitely not bottom tier anymore, trust me. And I don't mind Koko being underestimated (LOL). Arcus Diabolus 1
Arcus Diabolus Posted December 30, 2014 Posted December 30, 2014 Izayoi is definitely not bottom tier anymore, trust me. And I don't mind Koko being underestimated (LOL). Its good. I certainly have no complaints about reasonable buffs and nerfs. I'm sure a local friend of mine who mains Izayoi will be much happier, same goes for a bunch of friends that have been looking at Tsubaki and Makoto. Although, judging by the fact that my play group is rather unskilled, I'm worried about the Tager buffs, as I'm sure I mentioned in another thread somewhere before. It just means I gotta police the game more than I do normally, which sucks for the new guys and girls I play with.
LaowPing Posted December 30, 2014 Posted December 30, 2014 Keep in mind that there still is no tier list made by anyone who has actually played 2.0 (or at least I haven't seen any), so all the current tier list currently being made are speculation. No one really knows the full potential of any of these characters asides from the Japanese.
Arcus Diabolus Posted December 30, 2014 Posted December 30, 2014 I'm not sure if this was covered yet, but what happens with Noel's old costume? Is it in 2.0?
Airk Posted December 30, 2014 Posted December 30, 2014 We're not allowed to talk about Tsubaki in this thread, but I don't think she's meaningfully better. Her damage went up, but so did most of the cast, and her damage add with charge went WAY DOWN. More importantly, she didn't really gain anything in terms of neutral/pressure/mixup/non-crappy normals which are the areas where she has always suffered, and she actually LOST some stuff like j.236A corner oki. Rearranging her combo routes is not what she needs. Still low tier. Nothing has really changed.OTOH, giving Izayoi a DP is huge and makes her pretty darn dangerous because now you can't necessary just pin her down in the corner and keep her from doing her thing. No idea about the Makoto changes.
chzchan Posted December 30, 2014 Posted December 30, 2014 Essentially the same thing happened for Makoto. More damage (from new combo routes rather than global P2 buff) and then things like her ball oki took a hit when it shouldn't have.
Airk Posted December 30, 2014 Posted December 30, 2014 Right. So I'm gonna go with "People put them in B tier because they saw they do more damage now and they don't know anything about the characters."
LaowPing Posted January 1, 2015 Posted January 1, 2015 Essentially the same thing happened for Makoto. More damage (from new combo routes rather than global P2 buff) and then things like her ball oki took a hit when it shouldn't have. There's a global P2 buff? I've been looking at character changes so I haven't heard much about system changes aside from overdive.
chzchan Posted January 1, 2015 Posted January 1, 2015 Oh I was talking about Tsubaki specifically. Probably shouldn't have used the word global outside of the Tsubaki forum or at all in fact. It is referring to how essentially all of her normals got their P2 values increased so her combos don't prorate themselves into nothing if too many of her average followups are used.
