Guymam Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 Damn, I just read the gameplay primer and this game looks to be a bit complex with all the status effects and unique system elements as well as some borrowed elements from other games such as quick escape, EX attacks, and hops. I'm kinda mad about all those moves that require simultaneous button presses. I don't have enough shoulder buttons to set all those macros dammit lol. Learn stick
Moy_X7 Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 I'll pretty much have to once my pad breaks down lol
lolokoa Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 well seeing the default pad layout(A=[] B=X C=Circle and D=Triangle) , you could use your run your thumb for A+B and C+D just macro the A+C and B+D for One More & Burst you could just press the a macro then the missing button
Moy_X7 Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 I'm thinking of something like this... Button 1: A+B+C Button 2: A+B Button 3: A+C Button 4: C+D Thumbstick 1: A+C+D (Burst), the one I'll use the least often... ... and then just either a manual input for B+D or Thumbstick 2 Dem macros lol
Kurushii Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 I bet it'll be much easier to mash AoA fatals on a sanwa button :3
Moy_X7 Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 I'm not too worried about button mashing, not after playing DMC3 for years and doing Crazy Combo inputs in turbo mode lol.

skd Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 crab claw is so difficult haha. this game seems really workable on pad, though i know that feel w/ too many macros
floatwater Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 I'll work pad and see how it goes, if not then I'll just save money for a stick that's not ass

Starlight777 Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 Simultaneous button presses don't really bother me too much.
Koozebanian Fazoob Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 I couldn't find this posted anywhere, not sure if it should go here or the news thread, but it looks like you will be able to chose any character as your navigator eventually. I've already spotted Yosuke and Aigis being used. Pretty cool I suppose, wonder if they will all end up being DLC separately or not though.
Hecatom Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 lol, I should give that a try sometime and see how it works out. it takes time, and not many get accustomed quickly (or at all), and can be uncomfortable for the hand for some people from my friends i think that like only 3 besides myself play with 3 fingers for the face button (i actually have been playing this way since the nes era, so for me its something natural)
Moy_X7 Posted July 13, 2012 Posted July 13, 2012 I can do it but pushing the triangle and circle buttons at the same time with both my middle and ring fingers feels awkward as hell. That and I suffer from hypermobility so my fingers usually lock up and start hurting after a while lol.

That and I suffer from hypermobility so my fingers usually lock up and start hurting after a while lol. Do it like I do, index finger on square, ring finger on triangle, thumb on X and circle. I do it that way so my ring finger and pinky are hanging off the controller and they don't get cramped. Plus, it's easier to switch between X and circle with a thumb than trying to use your ring finger.
Jyosua Posted July 13, 2012 Posted July 13, 2012 Learn stick I found that on stick the button layout is still awkward. The buttons are so crammed together that it actually makes it hard to press all 4 at the same time, and 3 is similarly awkward but not as bad. It's also easy to press the wrong 2 buttons

Jyosua Posted July 13, 2012 Posted July 13, 2012 What the hell kind of button layout were you using It's ABC D or BCD A Were you doing, like AB CD Hahaha. Apparently you haven't done your research. The official Arcade layout for P4A is this: AC BD I have no fucking clue why they didn't stick with the BlazBlue layouts.

I also see ※ The button layout will vary by controller settings set by the player. And you haven't been playing P4U, so you could've only tried a weird-ass layout on BB if you're saying stick is hard to do things on
Kurushii Posted July 13, 2012 Posted July 13, 2012 You shouldn't ever be pressing all four buttons at the same time in P4U. From my primer:
Wing Posted July 13, 2012 Posted July 13, 2012 crab claw is so difficult haha. this game seems really workable on pad, though i know that feel w/ too many macros Sup bro! hey what's this talk about dlc? is there something planned already? also, that mayonnaisemidnight site is pretty dead and i don't like switching back and forth between this site and that one
Rhiya Posted July 13, 2012 Posted July 13, 2012 I honestly wish they'd just made it a five button game and cut back on the macros A+B is so clearly dust it hurts
shtkn Posted July 13, 2012 Posted July 13, 2012 GGX1 had dust bound to S+H. maybe p4arena will follow the same path and next game it'll be a dedicated button.
Koozebanian Fazoob Posted July 13, 2012 Posted July 13, 2012 Yeah the button setup in this game is really weird. There should have been an E (Dust) button, so it could have been... E = A+B 2E = 2A+B E+A/B = OMC E+C/D = Burst/OMB And then A+B could be throw like would make sense in the first place. It's not really a problem or anything, it just seems like there SHOULD have been a fifth button to begin with.

From my primer: Oh, well the burst still worked with all 4 buttons, but I'll keep that in mind. It's still awkward though. Edited July 13, 2012 by Jyosua
