Should the entry fee be $10.00 or $5.00 again?

  1. 1. Should the entry fee be $10.00 or $5.00 again?

    • It should be $10.00, like an "official tournament", plus the pot will be bigger!
    • It should be $5.00, because it is a "side tournament"/Vegas is too expensive...
    • It does not matter either way; the players will support GG regardless.

Guilty Gear XX: Accent Core (PS2) - Singles @ EVO2k12.

Evolution 2012 -July 6th-8th, 2012.

Caesar's Palace

3570 Las Vegas Blvd

Las Vegas, NV 89109

Date:

Friday, July 6th

On-site Sign-Ups:

12:00pm-1:00PM

Start time:

2:00PM

Entry fee:

$10.00

Pot will be split 75%/25% (1st/2nd), or if there's a decent amount of people (>20) 70%/20%/10% (1st/2nd/3rd).

Rules:

- 2/3 matches, 2/3 rounds; Grand Finals 3/5.

- Double Elimination Bracket.

- Player may change character after loss; winner is not allowed to change character.

- Glitches are allowed, game breaking glitches are not.

- EX characters, GG Mode, Kliff and Justice, are all prohibited. However, the extra colors will be legal (aside from Shadow and Gold).

- Button mapping is allowed.

1. If a player fails show up 10 minutes after being called for his/her match, then he/she will be sent to the loser's bracket; if he/she fails to show up/check in after 10 MORE minutes, then he/she will be disqualified. However, this may change if he/she is still in his/her pool/playing on the stream for another tournament (ex: BB, MvC3, SSF4, etc). We would like to allow the tournament(s) to run smoothly & on time, so please try to arrive on time for your match-- in order to make things easier for everyone.

2. Player are ENCOURAGED to check in/report to the TO(s) before the tournament begins or when the player wishes to leave the area/venue.

3. Players should try their best to report their wins/losses, if possible-- this is VERY IMPORTANT, especially when more than 2 matches are being played at the same.

*If there is enough TIME/interest, teams will run as well, but for now, it is singles.*

..................

I know that last year's GG side tournaments at EVO2k11 could have ran better, and Ky-Sama & I were responsible for that. However, it was our FIRST TIME doing it ourselves (since then, we have run singles AND teams at Seasons Beatings and helped run GG & UMvC3 singles at this year's Final Round), and we asked people for help (at EVO), but VERY FEW offered to help (not that it was their responsiblity to do so), so we did the best we could. Teams ran A LOT better than singles, but ended up running late.... Ky-Sama & I+others decided it would be BEST to finish singles on Saturday afternoon, because by 10:30PM, many players had been gone for hours, even after being called & texted many times, and the BYOC area was being closed, anyway. However, on Saturday afternoon/evening, practically every GG player was either in Marvel pools (including us), or BB singles and/or teams (which also resumed on Saturday, IIRC), so teams ran a bit late, but finished within a few hours, thankfully.

`

Again, I am very sorry for everyone whose matches were delayed, had to be DQed, dropped out, etc, etc and I understand that some are angry... All we wanted to do was to step up to help create a hype and positive GG experience at EVO and get everyone together to have fun... So many people came from Canada, etc and I feel bad that their EVO GG experience was not better...But this year will be different; thanks to the experience we gained and the equipment we are now using (Laptop FTW), we know that this year, it will be A LOT BETTER. We promise to make GG as hype as possible and to give everyone a chance to enjoy playing people from different regions at EVO <3

Because Sol-Bumguy and I have different schedules & various jobs, both of us will be maintaining this thread, IF it is all right with the Moderators & Administrators.

If it is all right with everyone, I will start a pre-reg list. Please post or PM your name, location and if possible, days you will be at EVO/other games you have entered (if necessary). To ensure that everyone is seeded correctly, your location is REQUIRED. However, on site sign-ups are also welcomed, but IMO, pre-registering is better to ensure the bracket is made well in advance and to help everything run more smoothly...Also, if possible, please bring a set-up and extra copy of GGXX:AC. IMHO, we need AT LEAST 3 set-ups, even if there are less than 40 entrants. The more organized things are, the better the chances are of running teams (also if permited by the EVO staff). By the way, I will contact the EVO staff (AGAIN) to try to guarantee that we will have space "reserved" for the tournament, and also to see when will be the best time/date to run the tournament. Please let me know if you have any suggestions. I was also considering adding a small pot-bonus for GG singles (not that I have a lot of money or anything, but I want to add more hype to the tournament(s) ).

Extra set-ups are recommended, if it is anything like last year, we need at least 4 set-ups -- 3 for tournament, and at least 1 for casuals or recording/streaming.

Set-Ups:

- TV's : 3 (Sol-Bumguy's/mine/Sanoshi's)

- PS2s: 3 (Sol-Bumguy's/mine/Sanoshi's/shtkn's).

- Copies of GGXX AC: 4 (Sol-Bumguy's/mine/faultydefense/Sanoshi's/shtkn's).

Recording equipmint:

- DVD camcorder.

- Canon PowerShot A480 Digital Camera (LOL!).

- Tripod stand.

Again, help is always appreciated, thank you <3

Any help would be much appreciated. We are better at seeding by region & skill, but with your help, it would be quicker.

Roldy: It is good to know that you are coming to EVO again, thanks for signing up. Are any of your Canadian friends coming? We want to make the experience much better for you guys this year, if any more of you decide to enter <3 BTW, GG will MOST LIKELY be run on Friday afternoon (around noon), but you guys can be placed at the bottom of the bracket/play your matches later, if needed....

Everyone, please remember to BRING A PS2/GG and or TV if you can, because we really need set-ups, and with this being one of the biggest EVO's ever, I highly doubt the staff/random people will allow us to use their TV's, etc... Thank you.

Unfortunately my friends don't know if they want to go or not. Some of them have been thinking about it, but no confirmations yet :(

I tried talking to all my friends but they're still undecided, sorry :(

As for my Venom, I think I improved...hopefully, lol.

Never really got a chance to play against American GG players besides the few guys who went to Montreal a couple weeks ago. Hope to see you there!

@Sol Bumguy/Ky sama: If you could put me near the bottom of the brackets, that would help quite a bit, lol.

Haven't heard much about this but I'm sure many have asked,

just entering is free correct, which means that all we have to pay is the final asking price for these side tournaments held at Las Vegas? I would like to enter Guilty Gear and BlazBlue but a friend wants me to register for Kof13 as well. Since KOF13 is on the main line, would these side tournaments somehow interfere with that?

That is assuming one is already registered for one of the main event games

Yes, spectating, playing casuals and entering side tournaments are FREE, as long as you are not entering the "official games". The venue fee is for entering the official tournaments, receiving an EVO T-shirt and being able to play demos of games that are not yet released, IIRC. Each year, many GG and BB players do not register/pay the venue fee because they plan on entering side tournaments, ONLY, which is fine.

The choice of entering KOF is entirely up to you, but if it happens to be run on the same day as GG (which is most likely Friday, because the "smaller" games are usually run on Friday, and because we prefer not to run GG while we are in UMvC3 pools/while others are in SSF4ae, etc pools as well), then you are responsible for informing the TO's that you will be playing in other tournaments-- in order to avoid confusion, etc.

If you have more questions, then feel free to ask/PM <3

I'm all in! Let's shake off this AC rust. Thanks Sol-Bumguy and Ky-sama for holding it down! We can't thank you enough for organizing these GG tournaments. Infinite props to both of you! Now let's get hype for EVO2012!

I'm in! Many thanks to Sol-Bumguy and Ky-sama for helping to keep the GGXXAC going.

The player registration list has been updated :3. Thanks to everyone for supporting GG!<333

Also, I heard a rumor that ABEGEN is going to this year's EVO --that would be pretty hype it were true!

Posted

Sign me up :]! Sorry I haven't been to get back to you guys on facebook. Things are pretty hectic for me lately! But I can guarantee 1 full setup for gg. The closer evo gets, hopefully I'll know about my rides and expenses. If all works well,I could bring more setups, but unsure as if now. Til then, I'm in!

LOL, I assumed you must have been mad busy lately-- that or I did something wrong:O Just had to create the thread as soon as possible, before early bird registration closed... Are you still up to help run GG, or did you have other plans? I know you have a lot of experience with hosting and you helped A LOT last year, but the choice is yours. Thanks for bringing a set-up, and good to know we are still cool <3

ABEGEN was one of the hopefuls from KVO but didn't win the free trip to EVO.

There are still a few Marvel players from Japan that still want to go to EVO, but they'll have to pay for the trip themselves.
