WakeUpDP Posted August 8, 2012 Posted August 8, 2012 Me too (^_^), though 360 lag for online has been killer. i hope they send that patch out soon I see what you mean now. lol Persona 4 slow-mo arena. And, I only saw 3 characters online today: Yukiko, Kanji and Mitsuru. :P Though, I am loving lighting car's low profile/speed, it makes so many matchups easier. And thanks Mash for the trick for OMC, made it way easier to get the combo.
Kikuichimonji Posted August 8, 2012 Posted August 8, 2012 A little thing that might be useful for some people is that when doing j.b as a jump-in, if you gatling to the second j.b it whiffs. You can do a little mixup involving whether you're going to do a 2 hit j.b or a one hit j.b into 2a. This is on top of fuzzy guard j.b double jump j.a stuff.
EPIC_POTATOCHIP Posted August 8, 2012 Posted August 8, 2012 I don't get it. Cross slash wont come out sometimes after I do swift strike.
Chris Chaos Posted August 8, 2012 Author Posted August 8, 2012 I don't get it. Cross slash wont come out sometimes after I do swift strike. Are you in Awakening Mode? If so, maybe it's your execution you have to work on. I know doing it too early will make it whiff (had it happen to me O.o) but it takes a little bit of practice. Keep at it and you'll get it.
Dragkonias Posted August 8, 2012 Posted August 8, 2012 Anyone have any tips on getting 214D -> OMC -> 214B to connect. I think I'm cancelling it early enough(as soon as the third hit connects) so maybe I'm slow on the 214B. I've managed to hit it a few times but man is it a pain to do consistently.

The last part of Mash's notes touches on this (the link is on the previous page) and then its only a matter of practice to get used to it. good luck
Dragkonias Posted August 8, 2012 Posted August 8, 2012 Ah. I see. Thanks. So I have to cancel the move right before the third hit hits and not when it hits...okay, that makes sense since I was just barely missing the link.
EPIC_POTATOCHIP Posted August 9, 2012 Posted August 9, 2012 Are you in Awakening Mode? If so, maybe it's your execution you have to work on. I know doing it too early will make it whiff (had it happen to me O.o) but it takes a little bit of practice. Keep at it and you'll get it. It's all the time. Sometimes it'll come out. And sometimes it wont. Especialy when I need it to come out the most. Is it because I'm using the D version of Swift Strike? Does it only work with C version?
EPIC_POTATOCHIP Posted August 9, 2012 Posted August 9, 2012 Yes. But it doesn't come out sometimes. Its so stupid..
Fluck Posted August 9, 2012 Posted August 9, 2012 I can only conclude that your inputs are wrong then :x
VR-Raiden Posted August 11, 2012 Posted August 11, 2012 I was doing the fuzzy j.A set up (blocked 5D > dash j.B (neutral JC) > nj.A > 5DD etc), it seems easiest on Yu, Mitsuru, and Yosuke. Everyone else you have to do the j.B a bit lower, and I couldn't get it to work at all on Labrys/S.Labrys or Teddie also got some stuff for match ups once those threads are posted.
Chris Chaos Posted August 11, 2012 Author Posted August 11, 2012 Match up threads have been created. If you have something to contribute to the thread, please do so in the said thread of the match up you want to discuss.
Kikuichimonji Posted August 11, 2012 Posted August 11, 2012 What are you guys doing after j.2A -> j.d? Combos, setups, anything. I know you can get 2a, 2a, (j.d hits), 214B, j.2a -> j.d.
Teh Umby Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 (edited) I wanted to ask, because I think I try too hard at this kind of thing, but what do you think about this FC setup from oki? Starter > Sweep > 5D > Dash > Back Dash > Raging Lion B > (5DD) > Whatever combo works from FC Lion The idea is to get the opponent to think they're safe from Yu following up to where they attempt to attack Izanagi, in the process getting hit by Lion B. If they block it, 5DD can be used to keep the attack safe. The dash > back dash is obviously an eye trick, but it also helps with timing for the setup. Edited August 12, 2012 by Teh Umby
skd Posted August 13, 2012 Posted August 13, 2012 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ryDmjG-GzwE its really really hard on mitsuru and aigis, but it works on everyone. i am accepting all offers for narukami mod position
tastylumpia Posted August 13, 2012 Posted August 13, 2012 Stupid j.B hitstun screwing up confirms, hard to tell when it's going to be 1/2 hits sometimes.
Kikuichimonji Posted August 13, 2012 Posted August 13, 2012 I'm starting to feel like 214A is most useful as a movement check rather than an actual mixup tool when Izanagi isn't out. In order to get away with occasional stuff like 5b 5c 5d, or dashing grab, etcetera.
VR-Raiden Posted August 13, 2012 Posted August 13, 2012 Stupid j.B hitstun screwing up confirms, hard to tell when it's going to be 1/2 hits sometimes. Yeah just have to get used to knowing what'll happen based on how high you are. I'm starting to feel like 214A is most useful as a movement check rather than an actual mixup tool when Izanagi isn't out. In order to get away with occasional stuff like 5b 5c 5d, or dashing grab, etcetera. I agree, and if they block it from far away it seems at least even on block. btw Mash, looks like we're missing an Elizabeth match up thread.
WakeUpDP Posted August 14, 2012 Posted August 14, 2012 (edited) Wow Elizabeth's instant kill is not what I expected. With 100 meter you can you can spam all the "random ziodyne into OMC" you want on her for pressure. If she wants to troll you by activating her instant kill then you just spam rapid. It'll one more the ziodyne and when you are not doing anything rapid turns into quick evade, she misses her ik by the invincibility and gets countered by the rest of ziodyne + possible follow up in corner. Edit: Or just OMC into block since it's blockable or even instant block it . Why is her IK even blockable? As long as you don't do a random D swift strike midscreen or ziodyne without the meter to OMC (which should not really happen) then you're good. Another random fact that her 3 hits that are used to enable her IK is the number of hits you'll have to hit the barrier in the same round. So if you hit her barrier twice and she lives to use it again in the same round then the first hit will activate her IK. Edited August 14, 2012 by WakeUpDP
Raynex Posted August 14, 2012 Posted August 14, 2012 On the topic of Elizabeth, I found out that you can slide under her 236A (giant laser) with 214C/D and OMB or OMC for a fat combo. If she has no burst that's an easy 70%.
Raging Ghost Posted August 14, 2012 Posted August 14, 2012 Why we don't have a Elizabeth match-up thread?
Keres Posted August 14, 2012 Posted August 14, 2012 (edited) On the topic of Elizabeth, I found out that you can slide under her 236A (giant laser) with 214C/D and OMB or OMC for a fat combo. If she has no burst that's an easy 70%. You can also punish the A version of Maziodyne with 214D on block, even from full screen, I believe. You can 214C/D under the B version during its startup. The A version has lots of recovery but little startup, the B version has lots of startup but little recovery. Edited August 14, 2012 by Keres
Kikuichimonji Posted August 15, 2012 Posted August 15, 2012 After 5D oki you can set up a low air dash mixup on either side of the opponent. You can whiff a j.b to get to a good low height to do it. I recommend doing j.a j.b to combo off it, you also get good mixup options with that string. You can also be a total asshole and cancel the j.b into j.214A and combo off of it with Additional D if you sandwich the opponent. Yu seems to destroy people who fuzzy block.
