Deviru Dahlia Posted August 19, 2012 Posted August 19, 2012 Ggs to 50-50, Toasty, Proto, and Mr Kimura. I love Teddie so much~
AchedSphinx Posted August 19, 2012 Posted August 19, 2012 Seems strange, but I wonder how long it takes to go from A to A+. I've won at least 20 games in a row(I have a feeling it has to do with my 18% win ratio lawlz). Anyways, GGs to the many I played today. Seems I'm quite free to Chie AAAAAAAA, cuz blocking doesn't work against it lol. GG to Da_Will05, Mitsuru_Kirijo, Chaos_Kalibur and MaxxDreamkiller.

It seems like 3 straight wins against somebody the same grade or higher. Might be wrong though.
Ichipoo Posted August 19, 2012 Posted August 19, 2012 So I finally ventured into the mythical land that is known as "Ranked Matches". Went from F- to B in one sitting, didn't lose a single match. The things I saw there were just... 1) If a character had a move that moves him/her across the screen (think Ice/Heart Car), they'll do it with no regards. 2) 5AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA 3) 5AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA when I'm nowhere near them 4) DP x n, now this was fun, employing my SB Agi > Maragi loops is always fun. 5) I had to do some DP x n of my own. I didn't get baited once lol. 6) Wake-up IK x N, lol this worked more than I expected. Fun stuffTook a break from Ranked (Went from F- to C then stopped) in order to improve my skills and so I could break away from bad habits and also hope that the players have smartened up a bit. Looks like I was wrong on the latter part.

Looks like I was wrong on the latter part. I have to disagree in the slightest here. In actuality, playing "bad players" helps you out. If you play only good players, you will be conditioned to expect smart things from your opponent and when they don't, you "could" get blown up by it. Everyone you play offline/casual/tournament will not always make smart decisions and if you condition yourself to know how to deal with smart and dumb decisions, you'll be okay when improving your skills. As crazy as it sounds there is logic to it. The only reason I dislike ranked is the static connectivity, not the sub-par players that are there.

I keep getting 0 bar connections when searching for "fast connections". Seriously, if I want fast connections I'm not going to be accepting 0/1 bar. It would be even better if it was CT/extend style custom ranked match, you end up seeing everyone that's on and can pick out the known good connections instead of leaving it up to the system.

I mostly learned from playing offline and they did smart things for the most part, and then I played a close friend of mine who moved to Vegas online and he performed a lot of AoAs, something I wasn't expecting since it was my understanding that not everybody wanted to rely on those all the time since they were easy to react to, but lo and behold he was landing consistent AoAs one after another since I was completely caught off guard with them.

Ranked has a "Display Search Results" when you look under Custom Match -> Matching settings, and that works as custom ranked match style from CT and EX. I found this out two days ago...

Ayashii Posted August 19, 2012 Posted August 19, 2012 I didn't even know that existed, thanks. No problem, I just wish it was put in a more apparent location lol
xntrikcat Posted August 19, 2012 Posted August 19, 2012 Man, jumping is so much more unsafe in this game. I have to keep telling myself "If you're above Yu, you're fucked" Not to mention trying to jump out of pressure too often... Bad habits dying hard all weeeeek
Ichipoo Posted August 19, 2012 Posted August 19, 2012 You can still jump in on Naoto at times though, just make sure you hit her with the tip of whatever jumping normal you're using since her 2B's range is short. If she whiffs, free CH combo for you.
xntrikcat Posted August 19, 2012 Posted August 19, 2012 Naoto's 2b is a joke. A bad joke. If CarrotTop could be a move in a fighting game, it would be Naoto's 2b. (See what a bad joke that was? Multi-level mindfuck comparisons)

It sucks not having a good anti-air again, had to deal with that shit all CT. I really want to play Naoto, but I think I'd do better with Yosuke, ugh.

You reminded me of a old saying: "The best swordsman in the world only has to fear the worst one--because he has no idea what that idiot will do."
BatousaiJ Posted August 19, 2012 Posted August 19, 2012 I just run in and All day. It works so well because people hold up back against a rushing Yosuke like that's going to accomplish something.
SkyKing Posted August 19, 2012 Posted August 19, 2012 Yeah, this is really hard to deal with against half the cast. I'm so used to having good normals. It sucks not having a good anti-air again, had to deal with that shit all CT. I really want to play Naoto, but I think I'd do better with Yosuke, ugh. Yeah, and it doens't help that Naoto's R-Action isn't all that great either. I was planning on playing a hit-and-run style with her, but it's really hard to do so when the hitting part happens to you more than it does to the other guy lol. I'm sticking with her anyway. I like her style, but everyone else can derp out wins better. Also, GGs to anyone I've played these past two days. I've had my shares of straight losses (I think something like 8-10 in a row in a couple of spurts :/).
Moy_X7 Posted August 19, 2012 Posted August 19, 2012 I seriously feel like Yukiko is Jin's counterpart, a weaker one at that. Not having a viable anti-air is not much of an issue for me now
Rhiya Posted August 19, 2012 Posted August 19, 2012 I wouldn't say anyone is Jin's counterpart, unless you count Yu because he fills that "guy with the fireball" slot. But Yu is more Ky than Jin, so ehh Really, I don't like comparing characters in this game to characters in BB, because the system mechanics make everyone in this game play a lot differently. (I'm not complaining, though; I'm sticking to Chie, but I could probably stomach playing a lot more charas in this game than I ever could in BB)
Moy_X7 Posted August 19, 2012 Posted August 19, 2012 Her fans behave a lot like his Ice Blades, hell they even have that ridiculous landing recovery if you air dash after tossing a fan like the Ice Blades do lol. That and she can jump cancel most of her ground normals and her j.A is as good for cross-ups as his j.2C. Her 5A is pretty similar to his 5C, decent horizontal reach and a good vertical reach. Her Dia is a shitty as his DP C and neither of them have access to a viable, head invulnerable anti-air XD It seriously feel like I'm playing a weaker Jin in this game lol.
Demon Wind Bomb Posted August 19, 2012 Posted August 19, 2012 I just run in and *pic* All day. It works so well because people hold up back against a rushing Yosuke like that's going to accomplish something. Funny thing is, I just figured out how good that shit is on netplay ggs to everybody I played today. Shoutouts to Ayashii for ranking me down with his Aigis.
Rhiya Posted August 19, 2012 Posted August 19, 2012 Yeah, but Yukiko has much stronger zoning tools, and plenty of things that wouldn't fit in Jin's playstyle in a million years (negative edge fire explosions being the first thing that comes to mind). And you're not really weaker, lol. I'd argue lower-tier persona is probably better off than lower-tier BB just because of the mechanics, unless they just don't get damage
