StarGazer Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 Hakumen without his J2A, who has been his best friend since CT, isn't Hakumen. There must be another way to make him fit in CP. T_T I hope that this first loketest is just pitching crazy ideas, and they'll nerf in appropriately. A change to his combo build is coming sooner or later because he was doing the same combos since like CT. Also these changes could be meant to make his combos less burst safe, faster, harder, more creative. Mori also thinks Carl and kune are top tier and that arakune is the most difficult character. I wouldn't take him calling Amane complex too seriously. Well I guess he is advanced in Morison opinion, but don't quite see it. Resource management isn't that bad when you get the resources back in the round. BTw I'm tired of hearing about Amane I want more bullet/ azrael info Arakune and Carl are really the hardest characters to play in BB because their style is too unique and requires a totally diffrent mindset to play, no matter how good of a player you are you still need time to learn them.

I sorta said this in my earlier post. Also you can say you need a different mindset with any character. He also said Carl was the strongest with ara however, neither armrest really strongEST.
Zeron_X25 Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 i disagree with this statement That's ok you have your own opinion. I'm just basing my statement on having played more than a thousand matches with those players. Generally though if you see someone with over 90% win rate, high PSR and low disconnect rates, it means they're pretty good.
Valthazeryus Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 Well, I was thinking of maybe putting together a more "american" model of an arcade. Basically just some LAN party center where there's a bunch of consoles, computers, and games. Then you just pay some entry or time-based fee. Maybe get a discount if you bring your own crap. I know I've seen something like that before. Might fail just as hard, though. My friends did this before. They are called Arcade in a Box from Tucson, AZ. You pay a flat entry fee and play the rest of the night. But apparently, they're closing, iirc. Gameworks does like unlimited game nights, but the thing is they never update their cabinets. They run CT, but with broken buttons. They finally removed it because they couldn't find out why people wouldn't play it.

I mean how much does an average person play and pay on the arcade?
Valthazeryus Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 (edited) Do you end up spending hundred's of dollars at the arcade? I mean how much does an average person play and pay on the arcade? In Japan? I forgot how much I spent, I think around one hundred seems fair. Well, since one play costs a dollar, I think on weekends, maybe average of 5 plays per person per weekend night? Like at Hey Arcade, there were 5 pairs of BB setups, but there were people behind setups for redemption matches or a chance to dethrone the king of the hill for that BB pair setup. Also, a lot of the top PSR people invested a lot of money into the game, too. Think about how many games they've played. Haha. Actually, the Sega arcade next to Hey Arcade at Akihabara one night had really fierce competition and salt. I think I remember a lot of the players that night were dropping at least minimum of 10 plays, because I was watching and I was surprised how much the wins were going back and forth. Maybe it was a FT5 or something. :p Edited August 18, 2012 by Valthazeryus
Isuna Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 Regarding PSR. Not entirely sure how the system works but... If someone has 600 PSR and 90% win rate (i.e. wins nine out of ten matches) they are horribly underranked. You have to consider the opponents. When you are at 50% win rate you are correctly ranked, as players are as good as you. (Disregarding balance and match-ups) Right? ._.
swordiris Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 We have an arcade over here in Texas. It is a new kind of arcade. You pay entry and get in for a certain amount of hours. They have some old arcade cabinets but most of the space is PS3's 360's and Wii's lined up to play. They have Blazblue but they always wait until the console version comes out to get it on there.
Circuitous Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 [not actually an arcade discussion thread] Testing a PSR replacement eh? Good. Good.
susano Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 PSR was stupid to begin with. Glad they're getting rid of it.
BladeOfJustice7 Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 My psr is much higher than my rank if that means anything. But at the same time I regularly beat people with higher netplay psr's than mine too. I know mine would be much higher if lag in general wasn't as much of a factor, but it does give some sort of information. Though I'm still not entirely sure how it's calculated -__- Curious what they'll do with it, since I like this psr system than the last personally.
Isuna Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 I think you gain more when you win than you lose when you lose, meaning that play time is "half" of the PSR.
YukiBlue Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 I think they need to also focus on the console version here, too. It's almost free to boost to the top of the Leaderboards. The No.1 Hakumen on XBL is 100% free and he thinks Tager is Broken. He holds a 99% win Ratio because you get out for free through dashboarding. Same goes for Pisces. Except he isn't as bad. Still RQ's all day though. So, what I'm saying is they should adopt a FIFA system where if you disconnect (Legit or not) You should get the L. If you're playing ranked you should sort your connection out first, it should only be your fault if you disconnect. /Biggest Gripe With Console BB.

TD Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 b-but how will my e-penis get larger now!? nah. l don't really care about psr. it would be nice to have a more legit system for rankings, but that's just my opinion.
Sophisticat Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 55% is not 40-50% It means you win more matches than you lose. Yeah, it does. But everyone on my friends list is at least 60%+++ except for me. ;_; Still, who the heck do they play? All I get is hard-to-beat 650 PSR+ dudes. I want to play some noobs too!
BladeOfJustice7 Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 Yeah, it does. But everyone on my friends list is at least 60%+++ except for me. ;_; Still, who the heck do they play? All I get is hard-to-beat 650 PSR+ dudes. I want to play some noobs too! Play at different times of the day. I find earlier in the day, morning/afternoon, has weaker players compared to night time. I know I personally play later in the day, and rarely do I ever play the morning.
Sophisticat Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 I don't/can't do that, though. For one, I'll take on anyone so long as it's not a 0 connection. I also want to beat everyone I meet to a pulp. So sometimes I get a 750 PSR guy 10 times in a row and lose each match, lol. It skews my win% until I find some noobs to milk to bring it back up.
Raging Ghost Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 Can you all, please, get back into topic? We're here to talk about the upcoming game, not about PSR.
Valthazeryus Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 The upcoming game is going to have a PSR change... http://www.dustloop.com/forums/showthread.php?14664-BlazBlue-Chrono-Phantasma-General-Discussion-Hype-Thread&p=1379267&viewfull=1#post1379267 So it is on topic...
BladeOfJustice7 Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 AFAIK, the only way Azrael's weak points matter is by hitting them with his Drive moves (specials included). All of them are divided into two groups, red and yellow, and get bigger hit stun if you land a move after landing another one from the same group and marking the enemy. The specials also gain great juggling properties (236D launches the enemy forward, while 214D launches them upward) and can be followed up with the special chases. Everything else is either a rumor or was never confirmed (this includes making moves unblockable, gaining more damage, applying weak points through block and so on). Ok so I heard his supers only do about 1k or something like that, could you please clarify that? Do he do more damage when he hits those weakspots? I'm still unclear about how he is supposed to use his drive and how he applies heavy damage.

Well, damn. Anyway, I don't bother with ranked. I only do Player Matches with my friends, because I don't care about the competitive scene.
toanenadiz Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 Ranked matches isn't really part of the competitive scene...
Putin Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 (edited) I got about 70 ranked matches in Extend and 97% win ratio even though I'm a scrub. Also a Eurofag, which means you have to keep fighting the same people over and over if you want decent connections. So yeah, all of the stats seem kinda pointless in netplay. It's nice to have some numbers to look at though. Edited August 18, 2012 by Putin
Raging Ghost Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 Ranked matches isn't really part of the competitive scene... To a extent. It have to be sort of competitive in order to reach the top ranks, right?
