Like everyone said, if he is fighting a character who has their reversal option in the 50 heat category, they are pretty much f**ked. Sounds too good to be true, and if he does take all of your heat, he IS too good to be true. They better give him Unlimited Carl's health to balance him out if that's the case.

For all we know he could have terrible range, horrible movement (no chains, has a dash?), and drive could take like 5 heat, or any combination of the three, and more. Epecially with the general heat nerfs, maybe, just maybe terumi will be worse than he sounds.

Akujikan Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 While his tool set sounds very powerful, and his Drive is a notoriously difficult to balance mechanic (not only a gauge siphon, but with Heat, a genuine deal-breaker in many situations) we haven't even the slightest idea what his movement will be like, how low his health will be (I'd bet on 10k), the range on his normals/specials or how safe any of his options will be, much less his Drives. I'll admit, its hard to have faith when we see Hazama dancing around in permanent A-or-higher tier, but I'm not going to throw up my hands and scoff just yet. I'm interested in his Overdrive, though. I'm willing to bet he gets his snake aura like Hazama's OD, but his will probably just steal meter passively as opposed to Hazama's life steal.

Frankly he sounds very momentum reliant like Valkenhayn or Tao. Then there's questions like how much heat is taken per d move? Does it differ depending on the d move? Are they safe on block? Is the heat stolen literal or methodical (can he steal heat if the opponent has none to be stolen)? Does Terumi have a DP? How many wake up options does he have? All we know is that his offense, particularly his combos will be very cruel. We know nothing on his ability to safely pressure the opponent nor how good his defense will be. I'm personally scared of what his OD will be. Edit: ninja'd D:

Giving characters Liz/Phoenix "cough on me and I die" tier health has always been a completely stupid way to balance characters. Either they end up still retarded as crap (Phoenix) or their tools weren't really broken to begin with (Elizabeth).

His normals could be negative on block though. I remember hearing that he has a run but I'm probably wrong. Piss-poor meter gain could be a thing but somehow, I doubt that if they're pushing the "omg meter all day" thing. I'd like to believe that they can balance him but two things keep coming back up: 1) Terumi 2) Pachi I'm already scoffing my ass off but hey, if he's fun and hilariously broke, he's on my sub list. I do love me some broke shit. EDIT: I'm gonna assume that his OD is the meter-based version of Blood Kain. If not, then it'll strengthen his drives. Going by his build, he looks like he'd be a 10k kinda guy but Jin has 11.5k and he's a goddamn stick. I remember my DmC Jp version having the Vergil dlc code printed inside the back cover, below the disc holder. ASW will most likely print it on a separate piece of paper inside the manual.

Dark Ranger88 Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 I don't think the heat stealing distortion is going to be that bad really. Ark isn't stupid; they are going to try and balance it somehow. It will either be really hard to land with specific requirments like DbD or Bang's new super, or it will do insignificant damage (like 900-1500 raw) to make up for the fact that it steals all heat. Or both of these things. Hopefully both. Plus Makoto isn't really meter dependant, so I don't care!
