hipikachu Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 Additional Terumi and Kagura information for those who haven't seen it already. Terumi. Gains heat like madman. Less green flashies. Faster. I have learned naught.
SoWL Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 Nothing new here except for a couple of humorous typos/misinformed translations. I mean, Dragon Serpent?
hipikachu Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 Nothing new here except for a couple of humorous typos/misinformed translations. I mean, Dragon Serpent? Please name one of Terumi's DDs: "Snake Wing Collapsing Heaven Blade." It can just be a horizontal version of Serpent's Infernal Rapture. For the Japanese ver, just translate "Serpent's Infernal Rapture" into moonspeak. that oughta do it.
harmless kitten Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 how is Terumi a bishi? Kagura looks more like a bishi than Terumi. Also I had no idea many female players play this game. Like I know there are some female DLers, and there are very few good JP female players like R-1, but that's it. Kagura is too bulky. He's in the same boat as Ragna, and at most he'll be considered handsome unless you deliberately downplay his muscle and stronger features. Terumi is very popular among most female BB fans. (Look at his pixiv tag!) So he was probably designed to be easy so they'd have more fun playing him even if they're not necessarily good at fighting games. If he was difficult, they'd probably play less. IIRC ArcSys doing Extend themselves instead of Aksys was kind of an anomaly. I think Aksys might have said it probably won't happen good. Hopefully it won't, because the jokes in CTR were disgustingly bad and the dub was very awkward.

Mumm-Ra Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 Any other place to search for BBCP other than amiami?
Starlight777 Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 Additional Terumi and Kagura information for those who haven't seen it already. That description makes it sound like Terumi is actually less flashy than Hazama. Aside from the whole meter gimmick, I like the idea of Terumi's attacks and movement being more practical and straight to the point than Hazama. I'm seriously hoping Terumi has a run if he's not using the chains for movement.

Bo from Aksys told me it was just a random situation in which ASW decided to handle the localization themselves. He didn't go into detail if it was because Aksys was tied in other projects or not. Since then let's look at what's happen: >Aksys starts taking up more VN titles. >ASW forms a international branch for their publications. >GGAC rerelease is published by ASW worldwide. >Chaos Code releases outside of Japan are published by ASW. >ASW international branch releases a picture showing the English VA's recording for BBCP. >Xie leaves Aksys and goes to the motherland. So ya it's looking highly likely that Aksys got canned for future ASW titles. Even though I like the people that work at Aksys I would rather see ASW control all of their titles worldwide. Maybe EU will get better treatment for their releases than what Zen United does. Edited April 24, 2013 by Kurushii

Tokkan Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 (edited) >ASW international branch releases a picture showing the English VA's recording for BBCP. Ha. Well they were probably only recording Arcade mode dialogue and new fight dialogue, since recording for Story mode had not begun in Japan until very recently according to Kana Ueda's twitter. Wait, really? Pic? I think I know what pic Kurushii is talking about. https://twitter.com/ArcSystemWorksU/status/313706727583391745 It's not confirmed to be BB-related, though. Welp, guess I should retract my statement. If ASW does localize future BB titles, I hope it isn't messy like the new parts of CSE. I think that's all I can really ask for.
SolxBaiken Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 >Chaos Code releases outside of Japan are published by ASW. Actually they only handle things IN Japan, the standalone arcade ver was always produced and distributed by ARC (which is why other Asian territories never saw it until the PSN Asia release), PS3 ver was actually made possible due to Sony Computer Entertainment Asia producing the work (hence it being released first, and for a time exclusively, in the Asian territory PSN) and then ARC picked it up for distribution over the Japanese PSN, and of course the latest endeavor is New Signs of Catastrophe which is the fancy name for the NESSiCAxLive (a system only distributed in Japan) is also being produced by ARC. FKD want to release CC in North American territories but yeah, nothing on that front from ARC or a 3rd party.
Kurushii Posted April 25, 2013 Posted April 25, 2013 Could of swore Tenryo said on twitter a while ago that the NA version was going to be ASW as well unless I misunderstood him.
Narroo Posted April 25, 2013 Posted April 25, 2013 Oh god, I hope not. The new versions of Extend were terrible. Considering I'm not a competitive player, I may not want to buy CP is it's localized by ASW, unless it's like 15 bucks used.
Dreiko Posted April 25, 2013 Posted April 25, 2013 (edited) dunno just throwing this out there but its possibly a meter use reduction drive or a meter use return type drive. the former would just reduce how much meter his DDs, RC and such cost to a reasonable insane degree. the second is possibly along the lines of using a meter draining attack (DD, RC for example) then getting some percentage of it back upon hitting the opponent of through some oddball means, or tagging them with a mark then hitting it gives Terumi some percentage of meter. just a thought. Mori said that he specifically "gains meter at an absurd pace through the use of his drive". The answer to the question of "how does he do this" is "By using his Drive approprately". This exists, it's in the interview. "テルミのドライブには、ヒートゲージを溜めやすい特性を持たせています。そのため、ドライブをうまく活用すれば、ディストーションドライブはもちろん、“ラピッドキャンセル”や“クラッシュトリガー”といったヒートゲージを必要とするシステムも積極的に使っていけますので、非常に自由度の高いキャラクターになると思います。" This bit is it. BlackYakuzu94 Posted April 25, 2013 Posted April 25, 2013 I think the only reason Extend's localization sucked so badly is because they rushed it for it for an American release.
SolxBaiken Posted April 25, 2013 Posted April 25, 2013 I think the only reason Extend's localization sucked so badly is because they rushed it for it for an American release. Which is ironic since it took Extend the most of any other BB to get from Japan > North America It's hard to say what the factor is, but I'm sure they're well aware of the issues of Extend [which again, not breaking so much as it is jarring] and will be sure to double check their work [which again, was the only immediate problem, poor QA]
Chaoschao222 Posted April 25, 2013 Posted April 25, 2013 I think the only reason Extend's localization sucked so badly is because they rushed it for it for an American release. Which is silly when you consider that Extend had the least amount of new content to add (story-wise) and took the longest to get from JP to US (two months compared to CS' one month and CT's five days).
Michi Posted April 25, 2013 Posted April 25, 2013 Any other place to search for BBCP other than amiami? So far, there's Amazon.jp.
Kurushii Posted April 25, 2013 Posted April 25, 2013 So far, there's Amazon.jp. Which only ships to Japan for games unless you use a third party shipping company like Tenso. Everyone is just going to have to wait till playasia, ncsx, cdjapan, and others to put up preorders. I contacted playasia last night on twitter to inform them of the console announcement and pricing of BBCP. They had no clue of it and are looking into it.

Narroo Posted April 25, 2013 Posted April 25, 2013 I don't know about you, but Hakumen's voice in Platinum's story still bugs the fuck out of me, its so jarring I thought it was a different VA for a while. Wasn't it a different guy? I like the core game, and it know that'll be good. At the same time, I don't want to pay $60 for a game with such egregious localization issues; Most fan translations/localizations of games are better than what we got. It doesn't seem right to pay full price full the game when we know story mode is supposed to be a major part of the game. What's next? Them having Hazama use two different VA's for his in-combat lines? (Okay, THAT would never happen, but still. I feel a bit jipped with EX's localization errors, and if AKSYS does it again, I'm going to plain out insulted.) I need to calm down a bit. Time for positive things! So all the old game modes are coming back; that includes conquest from CSI, correct? Neat idea if they touch it up a bit. If it had some kind of ranked multiplayer mode, and a bit better backgrounds and BGM, it could be a great distraction.
