Chaoschao222 Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 Tsubaki's hair really isn't sort of possible, it's like taking a marker to hair, what's going on with Saya is still largely unknown, Nu being artificially created isn't much of an excuse with Noel and Lambda being blondes. As for Platinum, yes, her hair has three tones, blond, orange, and pinkish/peach, it gives off the general appearance of a blond, but it is still a very unnatural shift. Plats hair colors largely match the Compile Heart logo
harmless kitten Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 (edited) Platinum's hair has pink in it. But then, the girl also has heart-shaped pupils that disappear when Trinity takes control. She's not exactly normal. I think Nu is supposed to give the impression that she is albino or has very little melanin in her, or very sick and strange. Her skin is bordering on gray (compare it to Noel's and Lambda's), her eyes are red, and her hair is white as fresh snow. Lambda shares her red eyes, but none of the hair or pale skin. Maybe Relius just went "nah, I won't go ahead and add melanin to the 13th subject," additional experimenting caused her to be that way, or even the Azure Grimoire's influence. Ragna has never been a half-vampire except possibly in the initial loop. The red eye is connected to the Azure Grimoire, and he even loses his sight in it when the thing goes offline. The white hair is either because of trauma or, again, the Azure Grimoire's influence. Additionally, Rachel only bit him in the initial loop to save his life. In every other timeline she scolds him and opens the way to the headless body of the Black Beast and Ragna takes it. Half-vampire thing is an old rumor that was never excised. I've never seen a word of confirmation about it, nor even the indication that it's possible to be one in the BB world. Edited January 6, 2013 by harmless kitten
Zangelin Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 Its very implied in CS that the only reason Ragna survived getting his arm chopped off without medical care was cause Rachel bit him, im rather sure that's in every cycle. I dont think the grimoire has any effect on his hair or eyes.
Narroo Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 I feel that the cast has gotten huge and now the three main stars will now have to share a bigger piece of the spot light pie.The fact that Rachel shows up on Amane's ending is a good sign that he's going to be important. Rachel doesn't really waist her time and non-important people. But I'm curious as to why she doesn't appear in Ragna's story or vice versa. Ragna's a big boy now.

In a world where there are talking human-like cats and squirrels, a werewolf, ghosts, vampires, and time travel, it is somehow impossible for there to be a "half vampire"? Makes sense.

In every other timeline she scolds him and opens the way to the headless body of the Black Beast and Ragna takes it. Will the Rachel biting Ragna thing ever be brought up again? It seems important but they only mentioned it once in her CT arcade ending.

Makes sense. Indeed, especially when we have no clue of how a vampire works in BB. They don't exactly seem to go by regular vampire rules... I mean Rachel walks in sunlight just fine without burning to ash or glittering.
Ctrlaltwtf Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 It's only there to explain Ragna's Drive and his one red eye.
harmless kitten Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 the word used in the mc is 初期, which means initial. the exact phrase is 初期のループでラグナを助けるために生涯一度だけ吸血を試みた。So the translation would be "In the initial loop for the sake of saving Ragna she tried sucking blood for only once in her lifetime." note lifetime here is 生涯, and it means one's existence till death, so rachel only sucked blood once in her entire lifetime time, complete with loops. From page 61 of the Continuum Shift Speculations thread. He survived because of the Azure Grimoire. He loses sight in his right eye when the Azure Grimoire ceases to work in Phase 0 and Hazama's CP arcade ending. @zeth07: What I mean is there is no mention of one. There's only Rachel and her father, and they are just vampires. There could be dhampirs or half-vampires or what have you existing, but as of right now there is no indication that vampires work that way in the BB world. They could or could not. It could go either way. Until they're mentioned in either the games, the books, an interview, or any other supplementary material, I take the stance that they don't exist. If evidence pops up, I will change it. @Ctrlaltwtf: His Drive is because of the Azure Grimoire. It's named Soul Eater and Ragna directly states that his Grimoire requires souls to work, Terumi goes on and on about how the Azure Grimoire exists to gather souls and forge a Murakumo Unit, it's an Azure Grimoire thing, not a vampire thing. His eye is heavily implied to be because of the Azure Grimoire.
TPPR10 Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 It's only there to explain Ragna's Drive and his one red eye. The half-vampire thing? Still related to Azure. Azure can suck away at other people's souls which allows Ragna to recover wounds by attacking at his foes and his right eye seems to be connected to the Azure.
Ctrlaltwtf Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 So basically... I just realized that Nightmare is also called "The Azure Knight." Coincidence?
Yazumatto Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 Talking about the relevance of hair color now? I love this thread.
Ctrlaltwtf Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 Talking about the relevance of hair color now? I love this thread. Uh, what? *dives a page backwards* Oh.
harmless kitten Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 Will the Rachel biting Ragna thing ever be brought up again? It seems important but they only mentioned it once in her CT arcade ending. I guess it's important to her backstory and past character development, but I don't think it's important now. Coincidence? Yes.
mAc Chaos Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 That vamp thing sounds like it got retconned. I liked it better than it just being the Azure.
Agni Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 Let's just say that the story of this series is a complete clusterfuck. Also, the emphasis on alternate universes and time loops allows Mori to pretty much retcon/fuck with everything and get away with it.
Zangelin Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 Isnt that what makes it so amazing though? The story is like 40% of what i love about BB.
NovaFortuna Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 Question: Has there been any info on what is the Nemesis Horizon?
Zedar90 Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 Question: Has there been any info on what is the Nemesis Horizon? Nemesis Horizon is written as 天岩戸 (ama no iwato) in the japanese arcades. Ama no iwato is the cave where susano drove Amaterasu in to in the japanese mythology. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amano-Iwato
YukiBlue Posted January 7, 2013 Posted January 7, 2013 Time Loops, Alternate timelines and occurrences, Master unit, Takamagahara, Azure Grimoires, Japanese mythology, Black Beast, War. This story is so jumbled and incoherent it's ridiculous.

harmless kitten Posted January 7, 2013 Posted January 7, 2013 So... Hakumen put the master unit there and Terumi wants to take it out by luring it out or something? Amaterasu hid there voluntarily; she was just enraged at Susanoo for the shit he pulled. (Look it up, he did a bunch of bad stuff including throwing a dead horse at her.) Besides, BB isn't literally following the myth. The Master Unit is hidden in the Boundary for whatever reason, maybe because she's even hiding from Terumi (who was Susanoo once). Basically, Terumi wants to remove her from the Boundary so he can destroy her. The Nemesis Horizon is probably referring to the gate that will open to let her through--or to let something pull her out.

True that they are not following the myth completely, but still it would be interesting if Terumi actually did something with the Susanoo that forced Amaterasu to go into the boundary and now he's looking for a way to take her out to fix his mistake before taking her outl.
