6HS has really bad guard balance minus, so any long combo such as 6HS jc j.D FRC ad tatami dustloop, you'll get less damage with a 6HS due to the guard balance change. It's fine if you're just doing 6HS j.D for the knockdown, I do that often.

could you give a specific follow-up? maybe the follow-ups i'm doing aren't optimal, because i still get 6H doing more damage than f.S -- mind you, it's marginal, but still more.

Ok I keep seeing tatami dustloop all over the place. Is it just something like tatami FRC j.P j.S j.D -> IAD j.S j.D FRC Tatami jump up and repeat?

off of what? it'll change depending on the combo, but the easiest way to see it is using 5HS vs 6HS, in almost every situation 5HS will net you more damage.

i was trying:

CH Youshijin -> 6H / f.S -> j.S-D FRC ad.tatami -> land -> j.S-D

I didn't follow-up the last j.S-D because I wanted to compare damage at that point, but maybe that's not an accurate way to compare the damage from 6H/f.S, as you obviously will be following-up.

i've tryed this throw combo: corner throw>2K>5S>j.D FRC>ad j.tatami>5S or 2D>j.SD>ad j.SD it worked on both lights and mids (baiken and anji), and this other one that worked on anji: corner throw>2K>5S>j.SD FRC>ad j.tatami>land>j.SD>ad j.SD i'm not sure how much damage that was but it was fair enough for 25% corner

Just do 5HS tatami FRC after the throw and fastfall dustloop, if you want to spend the tension. I personally like just doing tatami -> j.P dustloop since the damage is prorated on throws so much (50%!) and you get tension as opposed to losing it (so if you connect with something nonprorated after the corner knockdown you can get some good damage in), as well as being able to apply better pressure (yzn RC, tatami FRC or tetsuzansen FRC to keep pressure on, etc) afterwards.

After throw I just do the standard run in 2K > 5S©> JC > j.P-S-D ...add in AD > j.P_S-D if it's gettable. Tatami > combo I'll use on characters I find it easier to land on. As for the guard balance shit earlier, 5H > RC > 2D > Tatami > D-Loop does more damage than 6H > 2D > Tatami > D-Loop...and you know that 6H does more damage than 5H.

I am practicing the new dust combo on Slayer, and I never manage to hit with the second j.S-D (after the *wait*) Slayer is just outside of the j.S range. So my question is, are there characters that this combo won't work on, or do I need to train more?

I've gotten it to work on Slayer before, just practice it more. I think you might need to change the angle of which you go up and with the slashes.

I've been trying out a few combos that have been posted and came up with a problem~ Is a tatami impossible to combo from (maybe except on CH) unless it's FRC'd? I seem to be unable to follow up before the opponent recovers~ this could be because I'm using Training mode. I remember GGXX's training mode let the AI recover earlier than it was meant to if set to recover neutral. Is that happening here at all?

it depends on spacing and who you are fighting. i personally can't do tatami combo's on dizzy without FRCing but i can on the rest of the cast, but if they are too far away from you when the mat hits you have to FRC it.

From a close enough distance, you can combo ground tatami to superjump j.P vs almost all of the cast. I think the only character you can't do it against is Baiken. Vs May and I think Bridget you have to slightly delay the tatami mat after a 2D as they float too high if you do the mat immediately. Dizzy might be like that too, I know I have comboed it before (i did it just yesterday). I'm in an airport so this is all off the top of my head.

ah, Thank you. What you each said is very helpful. Learning how to follow up a tatami sans-tension has already improved my game quite a bit hehe~ now I just need to practice practice practice the FRC for the all other cases. /thumbs-up
