Yep. Saw it coming. We'll survive somehow though like the squirrels we are. We always do.

Honestly, I've had a lot of doubts about Makoto this week, after experimenting with Bullet and using Noel more, and seeing just how weak she really is in comparison to them, but I'm sticking with her, no matter what. Put too much time and effort into her to drop her now.

 

No matter how much she's nerfed, she'll always be #BESTSQUIRREL to me.

Him debunking the previous theory. He's right, too. Except Makoto should be at like #2. Also, this entire list should be topped off with NRS characters. :v:

 

To stay on topic...I will update the pastebin this weekend (along with my Hakumen one). Just not sure how much I'll get done.

So I was listening to some Lupe while going through this thread and got inspired.

BBCP 1.1 Player Statuses:

As of April 24th, 2014, Makoto takes #15 and #16 on the top 20 overall highest Dan ranking (Matsu and Goro respectively). That doesn't really mean anything other than that's where you'll find her tombstone as far as competitive ranking goes. As other players lose/gain rankings, her spot will move accordingly. I don't know exactly how inactivity factors into dan rankings decreasing but as far as I know, those two players will have their Makotos stuck at the high-end of 17th dan until they decide to play her again.

 

Goro: (Played/Won = 2102/1657)

Goro has pretty much moved on to Kokonoe at this point. I heard there's footage of it. His Koko is at 5th Dan now (would be higher if he didn't have obligations). If this is a permanent change, it's likely he won't be playing Makoto in ANY future versions (see: Lambda). Consider him lost.

 

Matsu: (Played/Won = 4387/3085)

I don't exactly know what's going on as far as Matsu is concerned. He's publicly stated he's dropping her on Twitter. I believe he's dropped her for Ragna, which is currently at 4th Dan. For all intents and purposes, consider him lost too.

 

If any of you wish to figure out if either of these players have played Makoto in the future, click on the links above and compare the played/won record to the one on this page. If one or both numbers has increased, they have played/won that many games with her. As for the others, Kuroku took one look at CP1.1 Mak, made a combo video demonstrating her new combos (and how much worse her damage is), and immediately went back to FFXIV. Eda has long since moved onto Kokonoe.

 

Long story short? No one in Japan is playing Makoto besides casual players (no offense milesw). Will there be a new player that rises to the occasion in the future? Maybe. Don't hold your breath though. Definitely don't look to America to put her on the map either. The only guy (DJHuoshen) that was crazy enough to run her in tournaments is most likely moving on to Kokonoe as we speak. Considering her changes (notably the acorn taunt) and Omni's tweet a little while ago, I'm inclined to agree that Makoto is officially Blazblue's version of Dan. If this is true, there's pretty much no incentive to improve upon her design. If you plan on being competitive, I highly suggest learning a new character and one with a much better track record in terms of changes. Save your squirrel for casuals/netplay. Kokonoe seems to be popular with former Makoto players. Maybe there will be a better version of her in the next version. Again, if we're going on past performances, that seems unlikely.

 

And some of the stuff I've read on this page is... sad, to put it nicely. It's time to move on gentlemen. Don't flood this thread with your tears. It's weird. o_O

It's been that way though ever since the end of CS2.

But you're right, it's safe to say I quit BB after Arc pulled that move on Makoto a third time. 3 strikes is all I gave those motherfuckers.

Long story short? No one in Japan is playing Makoto besides casual players (no offense milesw). 

 I was about to start making appearances in the a-cho ranbats till the patch came out.  

Too busy with school and crushes to practice 1.1 Makoto. Seeing all this low tier stuff keeps me wanting to stay at home in the lab even more.

I'll still play Makoto. Though I'm practicing Azrael to keep my attention on the game.

 

ArcRevo is just down the corner. Sigh.

Makoto's all about baiting now, so learning to do that greatly helps against mashers. Easier said than done though, her range makes even baiting difficult, unless you can react within a millionth of a second. :lol:

Nah I just wished I could hold it down for us Makoto players but once you guys play her, you will know what the fuss is really about lol.

5B doesn't gatling into 6B so you are actually waiting for 5B recovery then start up your 6B which makesa gap of like 26~ frame in total.

 

Frame trap is the anti mashing mechanic, do more frame traps, punish their mashing attempts and buy respect so you can 6B safely. If you are losing to DP mash then:

 

-try fast strings like 2A~2A > 6B

-2A > 2A > 2B > (backdash/block) bait for DP > resume pressure

-2A or 2B > jump barrier to bait DP > fall down with j.C

I think a more accurate claim would be that she's still fun. I have more fun using her than anyone else in the entire series, without a doubt, and that's a big reason why I'm keeping her as my main. That, and, she's pretty much my favorite character in any media ever at this point.

 

But good... Eh, you're right. I can't lie to myself anymore there. When I break out Noel or Bullet or Tsubaki in a lobby match, I feel like I have a legitimate shot at winning. With Makoto, it's 'try my best, but...'

Just to keep it related to the topic, I want to know if someone found an acorn combo route yet, it's the only thing I haven't seen yet.

Also, I've found some acorn combos for Unlimited Makoto, but not 1.1 Makoto.

Oh damn... I was hoping Acorn combos were possible with regular Makoto too... I know they're possible in Unlimited. Too bad no combo ability carried over.

Still would be hilarious to K.O. someone with it though; possibly better than any Astral just for the humiliation alone, lol.

 

Last I checked on Extend, U. Makoto acorns did exactly 1 point of damage out of, say, Jin's 11,500. I swear this new acorn does at least 100. Still pretty damn weak, but noticeably stronger if you look reeeally close.
