TagerTime Posted May 2, 2014 Posted May 2, 2014 Tager has something that other grappler's would find useful; MAGNETISM. Unfortunately Tagers magnetism is so poorly implemented that it is very limited in its usefullness.

Verimeloni Posted May 4, 2014 Posted May 4, 2014 As a new Makoto player I've been eating her challenges for breakfast, until 29. That F tk'd aerial Corona is driving me crazy. It's even worse than tk'd aerial Blood Scythe.
OmnixTSC Posted May 4, 2014 Posted May 4, 2014 Besides, being bottom is a grappler's chronic weakness in almost every game just by the way they play I'm glad you said almost. Otherwise, most iterations of Potemkin and Waldstein in UNIEL would have wanted to sit you down and have a nice, long chat. Makoto's drive is more like a compliment to what she has (or had, anyways) more than it is her main focus, which I think is okay. What you do use it for is fine, it's just you can't apply it to very many situations outside of situational setups and combos. The rest of her moveset covers the other situations for her if you can utilize those tools properly. It's just rather hard to effectively use her tools without being a strong player with good fundamentals.

And yeah, Makoto's moveset covers situations, but I won't say they do a fantastic job at it. :/ CU barely even works, and she has a lot of otherwise limited and wasted moves here and there.
OmnixTSC Posted May 4, 2014 Posted May 4, 2014 The only wasted move I can think of is Lander Blow, since it still doesn't have a standalone input. I think it's silly that they didn't fix that for post-patch.
Teutonicknight Posted May 4, 2014 Posted May 4, 2014 Yeah, Lander Blow sucks ass, it's barely even a new move at all. 3C also sucks as mentioned, I consider it a wasted move as well. Silly no longer describes the current changes, a proper word would be more along the lines of "unfair". I can't imagine what BB4 Makoto will be like (if she's even considered for the game) if this keeps up.

Maybe it falls under the limited category, but it's certainly more limited than some of her other moves for sure. But those other changes you mentioned sound sweet yet sensible. @Star, that's what they meant by PF being fixed? I didn't even know that was a bug, lol How much damage did she lose before it was fixed up?

Teutonicknight Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 It was sort of a gimmick move anyway (still is), I just wish I wasn't limited exclusively to Makoto's 2B. Having another low with more reach would be really nice, like if 3C had something I've always wanted; either made into a true slide attack (hitbox throughout ala Bang), or hitting twice. Oh well, 2B has pretty much always been the go-to; not often do I see a random 2C, unless done on an accident. Hilarious if it connects though.

(Although a two hit 3C that can be used as a quickish low, still has body invuln, travels a good distance, and is plus on block would be broken as hell. They would have to change the frame advantage to like -4 or something.)
Teutonicknight Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 It'd be especially funny since the only thing sticking slightly out on the first part of the slide is her tail; having that glorious *bloop* sound of the tail followed by the kick would make the move one of the funnest in the game. Lord that change would make my day. Keeping it related to the topic, the thing I miss most from 3C is how easy it was to bait bursts. Sure I can use CU, but the timing has to be pretty much at the same time the burst hits you. Not real easy to do unless you have real squirrel reflexes. Oh, and reward. CU doesn't offer much to followup with either without using resources.

I put this in the other thread, maybe it can help (assuming it is for the typical OD combo): "I try to land the first Meteor Dive as close to the ground as possible (hold D a little longer, do not release it immediately). That way when you recover on the ground, the opponent will be higher after the ground bounce, then I do like a 9236C (or 62369C) motion and it will hit. It is more difficult on people with weird air hitbox like Hazama, but it still hits on them. It is only to time well the first Meteor Dive."
Verimeloni Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 Thanks for tips guys, no luck yet, still feels plain awkward. In one of the earlier challenges I was able to cheat with doing j.C > Corona instead of tiger kneeing it but with this one you just have to be a man and just do it.
Arc Raizen Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 It might also be worth trying to do kind of a 360 motion instead: 632147963C. I know most people use 6321473C, but both work. For the 6321473C, it's all about learning the flow of the motion and timing between going from 7 to 3 and when to press C after hitting 3. Just takes practice. I still screw it up all the time. A few days ago I couldn't do it 9/10 times, and yesterday I never missed it.
