Quick question, in terms of gameplay, how has Makoto changed?

From what I have seen, more or less. I think CP Makoto is more similar to the Extend version than the CS1&2 one. However she got some new useful tools, and got better midscreen combos. I'm quite happy with her.

I was watching the OD info, and even though Makoto is not the strongest character without overdrive (actually she's quite low in the tier list), her OD time is below the average (a lot)!...-_-. I guess only Hakumen has less time than her and Bang being more or less like her, the rest of the cast has a lot more time in OD. I guess they foresaw the insane combos that Makoto can do in OD.

I was reading Kuroku's tweets and her OD damage is very good and requires little to no execution. Her playstyle hasn't changed since she's a rushdown character with a bad projectile.

Her overdrive is pretty much, how many drive moves can I fit into this combo before OD runs out? As for OD tier lists, I think she's mid since her OD actually does something.

Also, that description is sadly true although I appreciate Comet Cannon's utility in certain matchups despite being mediocre overall.

Makoto's overdrive is probably one of the better ones in the game, which is good for us.

Basically what I hear is, CP Makoto is big improvement over CSE Makoto, but it wasn't enough for her to jump a tier, it was just enough to escape being bottom of the barrel. (I think it's either Amane or Izayoi that's at the lowest point in the tiers, While Noel and Makoto are higher up in the lowest tier.)

I think just having her old CH JB back, meterless air throw, farther corner combos from mid-screen, and more proper oki in the corner are enough for her to be a major improvement from CSE.

That's kind of obvious at this point; you're basically pressing D during OD combos. lmao

Her OD is definitely very good but it's basically a Hakumen OD that deals less damage. Getting 5~7k unburstable damage from any confirm is certainly great, however. As for Makoto herself, she's in a rather fine place right now but her worst matchups became even worse than before.

I would also like to know where her OD ranks. I know it's really good but not Wtf tier like hakumen. My hope is it's enough to justify only playing her and not picking up Litchi too. Lol

True. I do love that it makes people actually have to respect D spamming or get bodied. But I wish her damage was higher for the work she has to do or at least fix her parry or dp.

Her mid screen is nice but I think they raped her corner damage. I think the average is about 3k even on a strong starter now and with OD about 5.5k

CP Makoto definitely seems like a complete character for the way her design works. The problem is, her design really isn't high/top tier material like Tao, Valk or Hazama. Even giving her back ground bounce on normal hit Lightning Arrow, her old parry, and/or old j.2C won't shoot her up in tiers. You'd have to release the limiters and remove the SMP on her drives again ala CS2 and the balance crew certainly won't do that again.

Her corner damage doesn't seem different at all IMO. It's still the same except orb oki works again so people forgo that extra hundred or so damage to use it.

At least she doesn't have to worry about character hit boxes anymore, it was broken that moves like 5CC couldnt touch characters like valk, or jin after J.D, and oh load Noels hit box was straight up wtf broken. I never could nail the micro dash after 2D into 2C, so matter how many endless hours, days, weeks, even mouths in training mode I wasted against certain characters.

Which is why I prefer characters lenient on execution...I dont have the talent to use harder characters like tao, litchi, or carl.

Micro dashing period is what killed me, that, and timing the 2C for certain characters I couldn't do it consistently at all no matter how hard I tried.

She gets 3k from any standard corner confirm and around 3,5k from a strong one - without using ANY meter, that is. That's perfectly fine damage output. Being able to get 3,1k from a 2B without worrying about untechable time and a guaranteed oki setup is very nice.

Maybe I'm spending too much time comparing makoto to a character like Litchi. My bad for the random crying guys. Lol
