floatwater Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 (edited) Well with the cramming i wouldn't be surprised. it's only like. . .13(?) episodes? trying to get all the way to extend i think. pokemon the origins did it, and it turned out quite nice. it's only one episode shit. Why would music need to flow in an anime scene that lasts like 15-30 seconds at most? what is this an OVA? no Edited October 8, 2013 by Crossfire
Master Of Chaos Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 Why are we all assuming that the true route is being crammed into Episode 1? I'm pretty sure it was just Ragna's route being looped.
mAc Chaos Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 I thought that too, but the title of Episode 2 is the Azure's Successor.
bakahyl Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 I thought that too, but the title of Episode 2 is the Azure's Successor. It could just referring to Noel, probably the Noel vs Nu fight that they had in CT and why Hazama is interested in her. It doesn't mean we are actually in the true route yet , but we'll see
Narroo Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 At the very end Ragna says "O azure, dwelling within my right arm, erase the jinx on anime shows based on fighting games!" so much lol Oh lord, they actually said it. I thought you were joking. They should've known not to tempt fate. Seriously, this is bad. They just took random scenes from the story routes, made up a few other ones, and strung them together. There's no thematic pacing at all; Reveling time loops from the start, the poor dream sequences..argh! Too many problems to count. There's no build up or proper presentation of anything! Who's the one that said the studio for this show makes bad shows? They were horribly, horribly, right.
Yazumatto Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 This is not as bad as I thought it would be. I was expecting something unwatchable. Tao is fucking adorable. The music is sweet. Hazama is not as jagged as you guys make him out to be although Jin does looks a bit weird. Sure, it's got a ton of problems but it gets a notbad.jpg IMO.
Zazz Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 I figured Noel just instinctively felt like doing it because of the Saya influence. Both of them showed some of it there. I thought it was Noel unconsciously remembering a previous time loop. But, eh, she's the Successor of the Azure or something. Who the heck knows how THAT works?
blackhybrid Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 Finally got to sit down and watch it, it was alright. Animation was decent, bit choppy in some spots, but Ima follow it, I was actually entertained.
HoudiniJr100 Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 Finally got to sit down and watch it, it was alright. Animation was decent, bit choppy in some spots, but Ima follow it, I was actually entertained. the moment that stood out as the funniest....Ragna's reaction to the wanted photo. XD and...they had another one that looked quite NORMAL a few scenes prior!
Shadow Draygon Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 Hazama is channeling Jay Leno powers through ever scene he appears in.
Zazz Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 and...they had another one that looked quite NORMAL a few scenes prior! i think that only for the opening. also i think the opening was just reused footage from the whole episode.
Shadow Draygon Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 The opening was just random clips through out this episode.
BlackYakuzu94 Posted October 8, 2013 Author Posted October 8, 2013 Welp, sat down and watched it and I shall judge on: Plot, characters, animation, sound, and visuals. Plot: Yea, I'm gonna echo everyone else and say the pacing was horrible. The plot just seemed to move along with almost no coherence of what was going on......so I'd say its an accurate depiction of the game's plot. :V On a series note, it was bad but it seems to be justified because they are covering CS too it seems....I probably would have preferred just CT. Characters: Nothing much to say here, Ragna is Ragna, Jin is Jin, and Tao is Tao. Animation: lol.....Ok, it was...alright but still pretty bad at some points.. I honestly expected far worse, but the fights themselves were actually pretty alright; nothing felt stiff(...Well aside from Jin's laughable Ice Blade). Sound: Probably the best part of the entire damn thing. I loved all of the remixes, my favorites are probably UHD and Lust SIN. Their only flaw is that they are too fucking short and somewhat misplaced(Seriously, Rebellion should have played longer during Ragna's raid). Ragna vs. Hakumen pls. Visuals: A little dried out, but nothing too offensive....aside from Ragna's arm after he woke up from Noel's lap....seriously, what the fuck was up with that? Final Verdict: Average, and that's being nice as a fan. A more cynical anime reviewer would have called it mediocre-shit. But yea, it should keep me entertained for the next 15 days tho.
HoudiniJr100 Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 i think that only for the opening. also i think the opening was just reused footage from the whole episode. it was in the episode 2, I remember it well :P just look closely
NecroTheReaper Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 I will say, Relius' image in the ending credits made him look terrifying. Can't wait to see him in action
blackhybrid Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 the moment that stood out as the funniest....Ragna's reaction to the wanted photo. XD and...they had another one that looked quite NORMAL a few scenes prior! Lol, I caught that too, I was like "hold up." I feel bad that I'm doing more laughing watching this than anything.
HoudiniJr100 Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 Lol, I caught that too, I was like "hold up." I feel bad that I'm doing more laughing watching this than anything. don't be. it's a silly realization :P ...besides at least someone had the right idea making...the right photo. maybe the kaka's drew the ugly ragna photo. XD
swordsman09 Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 (edited) lol Ragna did an Uzumaki Barrage on Jin. As a fan, I do like this. But for how far it got so far it doesn't seem like it'll last long at least for the CT period. My guess is that the 26 episodes will cover all three games. They didn't even show any Sector Seven people yet though. I wanted to see Tager so bad... They should've at least followed the Reconstruction story which could probably last around 12-13 episodes and then shorten CS a bit. They cut out a lot of parts here. Unless there will be multiple timelines, which I doubt, this probably won't last too long. The remixes are awesome though. They probably could've just used these remixes for CP instead of the one that we got already. Edited October 8, 2013 by swordsman09
mAc Chaos Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 If I was gonna pace it, I would have the first episode just dealing with the fire and meeting Rachel and Ragna walking around through the city. He would probably not get to Hakumen until Episode 3 or 4. But they only have 12 episodes, so yeah.
Koori Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 Best part of episode 1 was Gii getting beat up...and the music
kylehyde Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 I liked it, I thought the animation was good, nothing brilliant but nothing bad either. The music was alright, not really diggin the remixes but they'll grow on me I'm sure. I'm glad they added some stuff that didn't happen in the game, like Noel meeting sleeping Ragna. I'm actually surprised how chill Rachel is compared to her usuall self. She's a lot less of a B**** towards Ragna, at least in the first episode anyway. I give it a B+.
LeDom Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 (edited) So finally watched the episode, so I guess I'll share my thoughts. I think it's okay, as far as video game adaptations go. I will agree with everyone that it looks very rushed (one episode and we're already near the end of CT) but if they really will cover the CS plot, let's hope that the flow will get better starting from the third episode. In order words, the show might end up becoming ''Continuum Shift Reconstruction'' which would be kinda cool, I guess However, my main worry is that it's very unlikely that the cast outside of the main characters will get any considerable screentime with 12 episodes. Hopefully they'll also make OVAs of the gag reels or something like that lol Edited October 8, 2013 by LeDom
Vulcan422 Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 It just occurred to me there should probably be a link for FUNi's official simulcast on the first page. Could come in handy so people don't have to constantly post it when new eps come up on FUNi's site.
Suzaku Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 So...this series is bad...which makes it more hilarious with Sugita's little after credit speech about "erasing the 'jinx' on anime based on fighting games'. -snip- I'm thinking your expectations were too high going in. It's not a top tier anime by any means, but the animation quality isn't bad at all. It's just resoundingly average. The characters were drawn consistently, the animation was relatively smooth, the shading was good. The painted scenery was probably the high point in the visual department. About the only negatives were that it lacked a proper OP and had mediocre fight scenes, which for an anime based on a fighting game is pretty damn disappointing. If it retains this level of animation quality through its 12 episode run, I'll be happy. It could certainly have turned out far worse than this, and this is better than I expected.
BlackYakuzu94 Posted October 9, 2013 Author Posted October 9, 2013 So I just realized that I made this thread....and how hilarious my OP is now.
