Surf Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 (edited) I dunno. I'm still iffy on it being after Overture. It's really hard to say. But Bullet Heaven's patent date does raise a good argument. We'll have to wait and see. Paradigm and Sin being playable would be pretty hype though. Hmm. I thought of something too. With the models now being 3d and not sprites, can we expect alternate costumes now? Overture Sol and Ky would be nice to have. And Classic skins of the characters if they got a redesign in Xrd. BladeOfJustice7 Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 Hmm. I thought of something too. With the models now being 3d and not sprites, can we expect alternate costumes now? Overture Sol and Ky would be nice to have. And Classic skins of the characters if they got a redesign in Xrd. I like this idea but I feel that Ky's Overture outfit has too many ornaments to put on a fighting game character. Correct me if this is false though.
Surf Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 If it is after Overture he possibly changed his clothing to make up for that fact. But still, he used that clothing to.... "fight" in Overture as well. So who knows. One line Sol says does pique my interest though. "I hope you didn't get soft." They never fought in Overture's storyline right, since Ky's animosity toward Sol was pretty much gone by then. Which means it should be a good amount of time since the last time they fought. Being a King, Ky didnt get into as many conflicts as he did before. Which would make him "soft" Reading way too into it but it caught my interest.
BladeOfJustice7 Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 No, not really I was thinking the same thing. They both lost their antagonistic animosity towards each other as AC, but they still have a hard time getting along it seems :p
Skeletal Minion Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 Okay, so I'll start with what I dislike. - New costumes are awful. Sol's Pteryodactal collar, Ky's ponytail. No. - Sol seems to have been infected with World of Warcraft human bodybuilder syndrome Fortunately those are easily fixed. - 3D models = classic costumes DLC possible. - Touch up the proportions/models before release. SF4 did this and saved Ryu's gorilla face from turning But really who cares, those are mere aesthetics. Now for THE GOOD: - New artstyle is GORGEOUS. I honestly thought it was HD sprites until the camera revolved - Moves look 1:1 intact. The "keyframe only" thing they're doing truly emulates the feel of 2D - New song is rockin' - Daisuke is back at the wheel - New Guilty Gear. - NEW GUILTY GEAR. - NEW GUILTY GEAR!!! The club can't even handle my hype right now. My wallet is literally ejaculating money THANK YOU ARCSYS FOR KEEPING THE FLAG FLYING!
Fenrir Werwolf Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 Well based off the fact that him and Potemkin shared an ending together, I would say that is the more likely ending, plus I doubt he woudl go against his teacher's ways and lead the Assassin's. In early interview regarding overture he said he had sketches of charachter in the future (overture time) that could have not used in the end. One of those was a Chipp president of United Stat....Zepp, and Potemkin half cyborg. I think that the basic idea was to add those in a GG2+, but that never happened in the end...
xlolxlolx Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 And surprised to see his sword isn't an upgraded Fuuraiken :/ looks like a modified fuuraiken to me since it has the same pommel and almost identical length
Xtra_Zero Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 (edited) The slow feel some people are having is only because of those cut scenes. Surprisingly, almost all of those combos are very similar in terms of frames and how they cancel out to another. You're missing some frames in the AC video, dude. Particularly around 5sec. I dunno. I'm still iffy on it being after Overture. It's really hard to say. But Bullet Heaven's patent date does raise a good argument. He could have gotten it through Axl or I-No via time shenanigans :D Also: anyone catch the crater on the ground at 1:45? Edited May 21, 2013 by Xtra_Zero
nnecron Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 (edited) It's about time too. Edited May 21, 2013 by nnecron
nnecron Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 (edited) You're missing some frames in the AC video, dude. Particularly around 5sec. I knew someone would point that out. It is an excuse, but I'm using the free editor which won't let me seek 1/60 seconds at a time and I had to put some delays for some combos, which needed to replicate the recipe in the trailer. Besides it is only off by few frames at the worst, and there have been tweaks on startups and attack levels before so we can expect the usual speed of the game we used to. That said, I am going to improve on this video soon. Edited May 21, 2013 by nnecron
Strife Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 It's going to be weird when people who never played Guilty(09ers) and only played BB or P4 see this game. I might die laughing at some comments I have already heard on this game. This is exactly my situation. Although I tried AC and even bought on PSN, I couldn't really get into the game. I can't say I dislike it though, I find the characters to be the most interesting cast I've ever seen in a fighting game. It looks fun to watch high level play too. Hopefully Xrd will change things for me and I can start practicing GG for real.
nnecron Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 Then tutorial is the must. Or at least there should be a lot of contents for casuals to enjoy; contents that let's you naturally get comfortable with the mechanics.
Secret Stork Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 The slow feel some people are having is only because of those cut scenes. Surprisingly, almost all of those combos are very similar in terms of frames and how they cancel out to another. I KNEW those looked familiar. I was pretty curious when I saw those combos in the trailer because they were probably based off of combos from past games. Oh and I'm kinda digging Ky's ponytail. Was a little weird at first, but after the 5th time watching the trailer, I think it looks pretty cool.
Kitsoru Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 Oh and I'm kinda digging Ky's ponytail. Was a little weird at first, but after the 5th time watching the trailer, I think it looks pretty cool. It grew on me too once someone pointed out that it had a sort of ronin/Kenshin look to it.
Xtra_Zero Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 It'll also be nice to finally have 16:9 GG. Has anyone considered the possibility that the characters are fatter to compensate for the aspect ratio change? It would change the stage size and gameplay after all...
Kyosuke Kagami Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 Dear Daisuke: Please keep this Pachi fag from applying his brilliant "lolololol lets maek GG appeal to casual fags" ideas Kplzthxbye
Zazz Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 Oh, and I whipped this up- the crest on Sol's chest in his Gear form from Overture glows during his Xrd Dragon Install: Sol's Model changing when in Dragon Install like in GG2 would be super cool.
Martian Buddy Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 You know, "having stuff to appeal to casual players" doesn't mean "Lets dumb the game down so non competitive players can enjoy it" Just saying.
Digital Watches Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 Honestly all you need to appeal to casual players is shiny graphics and anime characters, which we've got, and are in no way themselves a bad thing. I'm not worried that they'll dumb down gameplay until I see evidence they're actually doing that.
Aegis High Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 Dear Daisuke: Please keep this Pachi fag from applying his brilliant "lolololol lets maek GG appeal to casual fags" ideas Kplzthxbye No empieces con mamadas.
Kanta-Kun Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 Guilty Gear is already one of the most popular franchises among casual players for it's presentation, ranging from visual artwork to it's music and the personalities each character has. And it's been that way for years, even with it's complex mechanics, there's no reason why it would need a mechanic tone down this time around.

This completely, Guilty Gear was basically the pioneer of FG appealing to casuals through art direction rather than play when you think about it. Blazblue didn't kill it and casuals won't.
Hecatom Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 Sol's Model changing when in Dragon Install like in GG2 would be super cool. Or even better a new character that is Full Gear Sol You know, "having stuff to appeal to casual players" doesn't mean "Lets dumb the game down so non competitive players can enjoy it" Just saying. You mean like removing FRC's or Slashbacks? Because those were some of his ideas >:/ No empieces con mamadas. El problema es que por lo que dijo Elvenshadow pachi quiere atraer nuevo publico simplificando GG
