I have a feeling that Order Sol will be dlc or something like that. Glad to see the GG roster getting a change of clothes.

Yeah, I feel that roster issues that arise could be solved with DLC- including maybe some new characters. Arc's already done it with Blazblue, so I don't see why not.

And they're not dickfaces about DLC like Capcom is, no offense to Capcom lovers.

another interesting thing i noticed in the trailer is that the characters don't clip through each other like normal 3d models: most notably the jumping slashes during their dust combo. maybe theyre using a technique similair to donkey kong country returns?

The left (X) is what Xrd does, where 1 model will overlap the other, the right (check) is what numerous other titles do (SF for example) in which 1 model will go "through" another

This has been in development for at least 5 years. I hope the long development is because they are bringing over all the existing characters. How disappointing it would be to have played a character for 10+ years and then get excited for a new GG, but then later hear your character isn't in.

Curious, how do you know it's been in development for 5 years?

I tried Unreal 3 at some point, and I've done some work in 3D models and rigging - TBH this did not take as long as some of you would think.

I was reading through recent posts, and found people talking about whether the characters would be mirrored when they switch sides.

As of the trailer they ARE mirrored, during the battle Ky was shown using his left hand, but when they introduced the characters and showed cutscene looking video Ky was right handed. Thats not to say that the mirrored idea hasnt changed or wont change however.

Even though Overture sucked balls it was still a try at something new which I can appreciate, so I'm hoping this will be something of a new experience as well. Definitely rooting for new characters (Sin/Izuna/Raven plz). Fanny would be interesting, hadn't thought of her in a while.

I still don't understand what everybody's beef with Overture is. I admittedly thought it was Dynasty Warriors when I first saw it and had a copy I got for $5 at AX, but then I played the shit out of it. I found it to be a really enjoyable experience: story mode has terrible dialogue and the usual "be enemies until we have a common cause to fight" trope, but the single player campaign lends itself to being an excellent tutorial for the actual game, which is versus play. The times I played online against skilled opponents felt infinitely rewarding in its complexity: doing GG level difficulty combo strings while alternately controlling and splitting units in an RTS felt pretty damn cool. Considering that I've heard (don't remember where) that Overture was what Daisuke initially envisioned for GG, I wouldn't be surprised if at least some elements of it appeared in Xrd.

And aside from how FUCKING MAD HYPED the trailer drove me, I also noticed that nice new tumble animation that came out of Ky's 6P being counter hit, along with the huge amount of hitstop. Yes, it's a trailer, but maybe they're going somewhere with that? The aforementioned clash system piques my interest too.

Ky is canonically right-handed, just as Sol is left-handed, so I guess that settles it.

Overture wasn't a bad idea (I've even written before about why it isn't that bad..) but the fact that so few people actually did play it in versus sort of tells you how few people found the gameplay to be rewarding enough to continue learning and playing... Personally speaking it just felt sorta un-ironed out. But I'm not generally a fan or player of RTS stuff. We know Daisuke likes western style games and likes incorporating elements into them so I agree, I wouldn't be surprised to see more elements pop up.

I noticed the tumble animation too; I think that's pretty cool. I was mentioning to some people last night that I also wonder if there might now be some sort of recovery from groundslide in there.

It's Millia and she and Eddie are fighting, Eddie is possesing her old lover's corpse, the trailer is kinda iffy for having him attack her since most of the time it's Millia looking for Eddie, not the other way.

This is a really delayed response, and I haven't read all of the rest of the thread yet, but I wanted to point out that in one of Millia's AC+ routes Eddie attempts to kill her for her body because Zato-1's corpse is supposedly going to begin decaying soon. I'm curious how it's managed to survive this long, personally. In any case, he was last canonically seen chasing after her, so it's not really that much of a surprise.

Maybe Valentine, there's supposed to be more of her out there. I'd like to see something more than just a blank, emotionless copy of Aria, but they could perhaps use a version of Valentine as an interesting stand-in for Justice.

i just replayed the ending of GG2 just now and I think Valentine (or Aria) may show up real soon.

No idea if which version is more likely: creepy girl with creepy balloon or Justice with Chainsaws!

I'm tearing up ;_; Weren't Daisuke and Shiozawa friends and that was why he killed off Zato and changed him to Eddie for a new voice, out of respect?

I can't wait to see how the rest of the cast got redesigned.

Canon-wise some of them are dead.

Just a thought, but the game looks set shortly after GGAC, AC Millia ending, she cuts her hair into the style shown in the XRD trailer.

Anyway, real talk, after getting THAT out of the system (Took 2 hours, literally) This game looks like either right after GGXXAC, or a reset storyline. If it's after GGXXAC, I hope the time skip isn't TOO BIG. (Like may better not have grown up) Also I hope ALL the cast make it in this game. Usually in a huge revamp in graphic, story, gameplay, etc. design like this, not ALL the chars make it in the initial release.
