deadite Posted May 24, 2013 Posted May 24, 2013 I'm interested in the Last Blade clash mechanic they added...
deadite Posted May 24, 2013 Posted May 24, 2013 when two moves clash the one with less move strength gets pushed back and will be open very short period.
Afro-Demon Posted May 24, 2013 Posted May 24, 2013 Regarding the possibility of those cut-ins during the supers, I would prefer it if it was done a bit cleaner. The camera zooms in on Ky so much during RTL that I swear I could see some nose hair. Maybe if they tweaked to something less extreme like BB Makoto's upper cut super thing.
Chrome Homura Posted May 24, 2013 Posted May 24, 2013 I'm interested in the Last Blade clash mechanic they added... Why are there people making this assumption so readily? (I mean, Blade was the other member, but still) As previously mentioned, while it's possible they might actually change the system, it's just as likely that the so-called "Last Blade clashes" are merely special intro scenery, as has been the case since GGX if I'm not mistaken. I wouldn't mind if they actually do change the clash system, but I think it's kind of ridiculous to just believe without a doubt that that's how it's going to work based on the information we have so far.

ElvenShadow Posted May 24, 2013 Posted May 24, 2013 Look's like I'm late to this "party." I read the whole thread (mostly... until everyone got in that stupid balance/execution debate that went around in circles for like 20 pages and started skimming). First of all, I just want to say that people should really stop bringing up Pachi. Whatever I said in my blog like over 2 years ago when I posted that stuff was just stuff from a drunken conversation we had at a bar about what he might do if he were in charge of a new GG. It wasn't an interview, it wasn't real news, it wasn't anything that applies at all. I have no idea to what extent he is even involved in this game. Right now, there is no reason to believe that all these bad things are going to happen that people keep being so negative about. For now, just be excited that they are making a new GG. People have been waiting for it for years and have been very vocal about it, and now that it is coming there is so much negativity and bitching going around lol! I just can't believe it. From what we can see in the trailer, the game is looking great! I can understand how some people might not like the 3D cell shading (personally I think it looks sick) but otherwise, there is nothing so far to indicate that it is going to be [insert negative whining here]. And no... I don't know any more about this game than any of you do. The only difference is that I saw the trailer live at ArcFes and was probably drunker than you when I watched it for the first time. Anyway, good shit to Klaige, Destin, Watches, and a few other people for making some great posts. Let's just try to stay positive until they ACTUALLY give us something to whine about. And I am not calling out everyone or anyone in particular, but you probably know who you are if this applies to you. BTW, there's no reason to not play GGXXACPR when it comes out on console. I am sure we have a while. Just because a new version is on the horizon doesn't mean there can't be a scene for plusR. It's a great game and I hope people still play it while they wait for Xrd.
reaVer Posted May 24, 2013 Posted May 24, 2013 When is +R hitting consoles? We have patiently been waiting for over 6 months now :'( And the Vita release is kind of a slap in our face in my opinion.
ElvenShadow Posted May 24, 2013 Posted May 24, 2013 Beats me. I want the console version of PR just as much as anyone so I can play on weekdays online. Should be very soon.
ZenTzen Posted May 24, 2013 Posted May 24, 2013 (edited) Heres a better translation from Ishiwataris response from that portuguese Hitconfirm piece, google translate really ruins the whole thing Hello! Ishiwatari here. On 19/05, at the 25 years of ASW commemorative event held at Pacifico Yokohama the new version of the Guilty Gear series was announced, called Guilty Gear-XRD-SIGN! I would like to pass a message to all the readers of this blog. First of all, thank you to all the fans of the Guilty Gear series, who waited so long for a new version. It's been six years since Guilty Gear 2 Overture, the last completely new version. The last fighting game I directed was Guilty Gear XX # Reload, I was satisfied with the results and started exploring a new genre with Guilty Gear 2. But after some time 2D fighting games started to be recognized again and then i thought "well, maybe I should go back to making 2D fighting games, but I would like to give it a sense of novelty?". Just as Guilty Gear caused surprise when it first came out in the arcades, I wanted everyone to feel that impact again. So I fought that a new system and visuals were crucial to that effect. "Is it possible to evolve the process of creating characters in 2D fighting games even more?" And "Will the use of 3D development techniques to recreate 2D characters cause that impact?". With this in mind we adopted 3D production. Since then we started using 3D but searching for a solution that made it seem 2D. After many experiments and tests to understand how to make this work, we finally found a practical way. We ended up leaving everyone waiting for a long time, but now I wonder if the impact was strong enough? The Guilty Gear series is a long series, which has existed for many years. The development of the series so far has been adding new components to the solid foundation of the game, but this time we'll start from scratch and review the entire system, we are very dedicated to the system. This is what we call 'back to the beginning' is it not? So for fans who have played until this day and to the ones that will start now, we basically wanted to put everyone in the same starting position, giving the feeling of a 'new game'. And finally, a few conceptual words ... By 'resetting' everything that has accumulated so far, we can carve it to something simpler. Not as a 'successor', but as an 'expansion'. Of course that the revival of the Guilty Gear series with XRD-SIGN- have in mind the fans who supported the series until now, but we're trying to develop something that players that start now can also start having fun! Wait! Edited May 24, 2013 by ZenTzen
TiredOcean Posted May 24, 2013 Posted May 24, 2013 JUST TELL US IF THE GAME'S GONNA SUCK OR NOT JEEZ Anyway thanks for the better translation ZenTzen.
Rhannmah Posted May 24, 2013 Posted May 24, 2013 but this time we'll start from scratch and review the entire system By 'resetting' everything that has accumulated so far, we can carve it to something simpler we're trying to develop something that players that start now can also start having fun this sounds like really REALLY bad news for the hardcore players.
Digital Watches Posted May 24, 2013 Posted May 24, 2013 The only bad news would be if the game turns out bad. Players who are truly strong can learn new things, and stop relying on things that are no longer relevant.
ElvenShadow Posted May 24, 2013 Posted May 24, 2013 Yea and even if they simplify some things a little, compared to all of the other current gen fighters I'm sure it will still be better anyway.
Rhannmah Posted May 24, 2013 Posted May 24, 2013 Well it sounds like they're going to mess with the game system to make it more accessible to casual players. This sounds to me like the complexity of the game will go down. I mean, why change something that is tried and true? Why not just build upon that? I want to play Guilty Gear, not some dumbed down game with the Guilty Gear logo slapped on it. I want to play Chess, not Checkers.
Digital Watches Posted May 24, 2013 Posted May 24, 2013 It's always interesting to see the wildly different assumptions that form from the same complete lack of information. For all we know they could be doing anything from making an entirely different game to just having to reimplement GG in a new engine (Thus "from the ground up.") I don't think a translation-partied interview that says some vague things should be a reason to be worried.
Pichy Posted May 24, 2013 Posted May 24, 2013 Okay guys, let's stop contemplating whether Daisuke's apparent goal of ignoring everything from / to AC+R is bad for the game or not and consider this: Our mates over in the (japanese) Vampire community aren't great in number, but are still more than happy to run both Hunter and Saviour events at DCC every year. I'm assuming that #R is going to serve as the base from which Xrd is designed, and that game is still kickin 'rad. So what if things change? We can just play both +R and Xrd and enjoy each game for its unique strengths. Unless Justice isn't brought back after them making me wait ten years for a tournament-legal version. Then I'm boycotting the game forever.
Kyosuke Kagami Posted May 24, 2013 Posted May 24, 2013 If you think these new "clashes" in Xrd are similar to Last Blade's parrying / repel button system, you clearly NEVER played LB at all. Totally different thing. Also I have blind faith in Daisuke

We have basically zero information on how the game will be like. It's just that after all these years, finally getting a new game, i'm just scared of it turning into another Blazblue, which was a disappointment to me because i hoped it would retain Guilty Gear's fighting system complexity with new intellectual property. With just the trailer as information, it seemed to me that they were doing everything in their power to stay true to the series, but with this blog post, i'm still hoping for the best, but it rains down on my parade a little. I just hope that my fears are unfounded.

I just hope that my fears are unfounded. Christ almighty calm down. GG isn't gonna be dumbed down and BB is seriously not "dumbed down" in the first place. It's simpler. I'm pretty Xrd will have FRCs, slashbacks, JI's, the tension system, and all that other jazz that seperates GG from other FGs. Calm down. Daisuke is just speaking good old PR bullshit that's completely vacous in the end and exists solely to appease the investors. All devs do it.
Tong Posted May 24, 2013 Posted May 24, 2013 New mechanics and complexity are only added after the game becomes stale. GGX wasn't definitely a complex game... It takes time to achieve something like AC. I don't know how Xrd is going to manage to balance all 24 characters (assuming they all come back) + having the old complex mechanics + scratch new engine without being an unbalanced trainwreck. I believe that Xrd will become a more complex game as new iterations arrive.
Digital Watches Posted May 24, 2013 Posted May 24, 2013 (edited) Hopefully that will come in the form of patches, since it's 20-fucking-13. Also: BB is a completely different game with different mechanics and different choices a player has to make and a very different metagame from GG. While they're both airdash fighters and have a similar aesthetic, beyond that, the way the games are played are apples and oranges. Comparing them as though they are both apples or both oranges will only lead to frustration and divisive nonsense. Edited May 24, 2013 by Digital Watches

Not even close. It could end up like that as well.
