Troy Baker from TLoU does Sol?!? Fuck outta here! I will not be denied that potential awesomeness! Arc better bring him back.

Troy Baker is going to MCM Expo and since i am going to be there maybe i will get a picture about him and maybe even ask him about Guility Gear Xrd

Dooo iiiittt!! TLoU was literally the only video game I've played and enjoyed that wasn't a fighter in eons and his performance as Joel had a lot to do with it. You'll likely get a "no comment" but it doesn't hurt to ask!

Hopefully he does, I hope Troy Baker doesn't think he's too hollywood for a little Guilty Gear!

Most VAs will take any work they can get. As long as he isn't too busy, he likely wouldn't refuse the role.

There is literally no point in doing so (well, asking him about Xrd, that is; the picture, I'm sure would be nice for you). The game won't even be out in arcades until most likely late next year, meaning no console version until sometime in 2015. There is no way he's getting cast well before then.

CSE looks like it activates faster, but CSE along with his other SE's look significantly smaller in Xrd. It seems that they really want Ky players to make use of Durandal Call. Or am I the only one who finds that to be the case, and if so, have their hitboxes gotten smaller along with the shrinking of their animations?

For those who played Xrd, it feels like they gave more options for Ky and Sol to play how players want to optimally use them. Giving Ky better tools for screen control and Sol having better tools for getting in close and staying there. It seems to me like both characters are moving further away from the "Jack of All Trades" archtype even more so than ever before.

My god..the freeze during the Roman cancel realy kill the attacker's momentum

I would not image moves such as chip teleport frc, hos BHB AC frc, sol gun flame frc getting killed by this freeze...

Yeah, I don't mind Troy Baker considering Sol is basically undubbable without sounding really goofy. And Ky was awful.

Needs to be Johnny Yong Bosch. Something like his Guy with a touch of the aristocratic flair of Lelouche.

Doesn't seem too bad. Definitely looks like something to get used to, however.

Do you people think that the pose struck during a RC happens during something akin to a super freeze? Maybe the pose has recovery frames and fucks up some combos?

From the videos at least, the "choppiness" of the intros is fine for the most part. It actually helps make it look more like its traditional animation and not 3d cell shaded. One of the things that's always bothered me with cel-shaded cut scenes is that they always looked too smooth, reminding you that they aren't traditional cells. From what I've seen of Xrd, it doesn't seem to have that problem.

Agreed. While the game runs at 60fps, I get the impression that the characters are animated at maybe 12fps, to replicate traditional cel animation. I think each frame is also probably handled as a unique, hand-tweaked 'state' with its own independant light source, so the cel shading always looks appropriate, regardless of environment lighting or camera angles.

By intentionally cutting back from tweened 60fps animation to fine-tuned 12fps animation, they can make it look like actual cel animation.

I actually think YRC's sadly are going to make some of the fun trick stuff a bit less interesting because of the slowdown. Things like FRC whiff -> throw will be more reactable. That being said, fuck it I'm behind this game 100%.

I was thinking the same thing but then I saw Potemkin could YRC his 6K or Hammerfall before they hit and then I realized the RC Flash is probably for the best. I mean the idea of being able to do something like, c.S 2D YRC Throw with no flash at all would be pretty nuts.

Actually since RCs only slows down the opponent and other stuff that's onscreen, whiff RC throw will be just as unreactable.

What makes them more react-able is the RC Flash (similar to a super flash). That gives you the time to react. Presumably you will still be able to input things as normal even during slowdown, so you could still jump out or reversal backdash or whatever.

I haven't seen it in any vids...so the question is...does Ky have his Reload/Slash 6HS...?

He has the old 6HS, the two hit frame advantage one.

Definitely yes on that first part. Second part I haven't been able to tell by eyeballing yet, still looking.

Oh yeah, I have a really dumb question. Has anyone seen/heard how Venom's ball formations work in this game? Are they classic XX layout? AC? Or totally different now?

Should wait until further loketests to really worry about that stuff. For all we know, frcs could still potentially be planned as a small window within the yrc timing. The thing to note is that meter gauges are divided into 25 meter segments, both by color and by actual dividers on the gauge. There's no point in that unless they have 25 meter options, which in the current game are FBs and FRCs. We could just get new 25 meter options, of course, but that'll also have to see.

Alternatively, they could just scrap the 25 meter marks on the gauge. Who knows.

Ah. Well at that point, since all of their actions are slowed, reversals would still probably be weaker so they have to respect the mixup.

Which they changed in CS to be a Jin-only meter bar... too early to say really.

And the balls always had different speeds and angles based on the normal, though seeing them stop is interesting.

This slowdown after YRC means no more silly instant crossup overheads out of teleport with Chipp. That makes me sad. At least j.s is now extra silly, probably can set up good 50/50's just by mixing up crossup j.s with j.hs. I wonder if gatlings like j.p j.s can side switch now.

Reload Formation actually... and that's no dumb question! ;)

Btw, I have seen in the vids that the balls will decrease its speed and stop after awhile... and when Venom uses 5P to move the ball, it moves slowly and then stop - ready to be launched again! Does this mean that each of his normals now moves the balls with different powers and speeds or something like that? =/
