D.R.F. Posted June 11, 2014 Posted June 11, 2014 I just wanted a shout out from the punk ass sony conference but thats water under the bridge. The game looks def. Nice enough that some people are going to pick it up
FinalDoomGuy Posted June 11, 2014 Posted June 11, 2014 AllyOfJustice: There's a lot of loaded assumptions in your post. I mean, we have firsthand feedback from dustloop members who've been playing the game since it came out in Japan that the game is not, in fact, "simplified", at least, not to the extent that it makes the game any less deep. Don't let marketing statements from the developers influence you so much, I've seen you posting and repeatedly asking about whether or not Xrd is dumbed down and several times people have told you no. Relax. b-but muh frcs I do agree with people in the thread that ArcSys can be bloody terrible at supporting the international market though. Waiting for the European release of P4A was horrific, and having such long delays in general isn't a good thing. Getting more exposure through ads and shit is gravy, releasing the fucking games in any sort of timely fashion is what's important. I've heard good things about the release of this game though, which is nice.
TeeJay Posted June 11, 2014 Posted June 11, 2014 Watching the gamestop interview on youtube: Will we be getting 3d-real-time-in-game engine story cutscenes? Haha, I hate to beat a dead horse, but the interview is cringe worthy to vets I'm sure. As a new player, maybe not.  It was interesting that early on, people were afraid that these games were going to step onto each other's shoes, and now with have P4U in the mix. I'm thankful that BB introduced me to GG which I first started playing on PSP. Regarding marketing, I thought those CT video guides were a big deal. Now, we have the challenge mode and tutorials, but I remember watching those vids on youtube and the depth opened my head up-- CT Taokaka and Litchi combos. In fact, seeing the game made me interested. People imported Demon's Souls which was JP/Asia only years ago-- it had full English. Word of mouth and good reviews created hype which eventually had the game published by Atlus in NA. Player hype can be a big deal. People just need to know concrete reasons why the game worth playing.  Interestingly, people on IGN are raving that MK is their favorite fighting game series due to fatalities, mature nature, character designs, and story. Note that raw gameplay is the first thing considered to most. The fighting game community is growing but is pretty split into multiple niches.  Let's hope Guilty Gear has a little more aesthetic and mass appeal than BB.Â
D.R.F. Posted June 11, 2014 Posted June 11, 2014 Mature nature? Motherfucker your fighting people who cares. Idgaf how "mature" it is if I move across the screen like im in quicksand. These are obviously casuals (nothing wrong with that, mind you) and this is were netherealm will be generating revenue. We need to get the hypest special move in gg and put it on that screen lol. Get the casuals in on it
Poultrygeist Posted June 11, 2014 Posted June 11, 2014 Arcsys are awful at supporting the international market and it's nothing new. Â This is why we usually get their games a million years later. Â But with GG we're gonna be pretty punctual with it so I think this is an opportunity to get it some more momentum in the US. Â Try and get your friends interested. Â If they like fighting games but are also fans of anime or heavy metal music then work from there. Â My brother likes strategy/action games and is trying GG Overture and if he enjoys the setting and characters enough may be interested in getting into the core GG fighters (hopefully). Â Plus with Xrd more accessible they don't have to be intimidated by how wild GG can be at times. Â
Maker Posted June 11, 2014 Posted June 11, 2014 A note about Xrds popularity withiny small local guys. Most are mk / sf players but all have been accepting of xrd die to its availability and my pitches of it being a very solid title. My online few Bb players are also looking forward to the title specifically a guy I sparred with regularly who cannot wait for Potempkin. (This will be his first gig experience.) I think things are looking good already despite whatever coverage the game has or has not received.
TeeJay Posted June 11, 2014 Posted June 11, 2014 lol, start spamming Diago Sol vids to all the Street Fighter heads, jk. Though it would be nice to see "casual mass appeal" notable players picking up the game. SF seems to be gaining some International momentum but the air dashers seem much more separate. Didn't we have a US qualifier for SBO or Arc Revo? Dacibro almost made a OCV comeback?
Poultrygeist Posted June 11, 2014 Posted June 11, 2014 Also even if you don't like BB you should not mistreat the BB fans if you want them to get interested in GG. Â Just say something like "you like BB so why not try GG? Â It's by the same guys" and work from there. Â You don't have to like BB (I imagine most of you don't) but you should be careful how you approach that if you want to get new people into GG because if you shit on their game you will just make them not want to bother.
D.R.F. Posted June 11, 2014 Posted June 11, 2014 Lets not be mk fans who shit on EVERY GAME that isn't theirs. It really doesnt look good on the community
Fenrir Werwolf Posted June 11, 2014 Posted June 11, 2014 Arcsys (That is "Arc System Works" in short) works and operate in Japan. Complain with AKSYS games if you are not happy with their localisation. Europe is also another totally different market with very little profit and interest for companies, if you want to complain do it with, dunno, Zen united? They called themselves "Arcsys Europe" for a period, if I remember well
redsilversnake Posted June 11, 2014 Posted June 11, 2014 Interview with DI, maybe someone can take a look and see if there is something new. Â http://www.famitsu.com/news/201406/11054539.html Not a whole lot. It starts off rehashing info that's long been known to anyone following the game (plus some comments on how the arcade scene is expanding, namely among women and younger players, and he talks a bit about how he approaches the soundtracks for this series and BlazBlue), but there is some relevant stuff after that. Ishiwatari says that the only difference between the two home versions is the PS4 version going up to 1080p, and that cross-play shouldn't have any issues. He also talks about how story mode will be different, but I didn't catch anything big on that. When asked about new characters, he says he can't give any specifics, but does confirm that while there won't be any balance changes, there will be additions to the roster, and they will be added to the arcade version sometime after the home release. He also mentions that story relevance was actually another factor in choosing characters, which I think he says will also be the case with the console version. He also gets asked about DLC, and he says that although there aren't currently any plans for such, he would like to release alternate costumes, including old outfits, but wouldn't put out anything that "destroys the character's image" (meaning no swimsuits, ya pervs). At one point, the supplementary releases (like the novels and short stories) get brought up, but he doesn't definitively say if info from them will be included in Xrd in some fashion.
Zombies8MyLeg Posted June 11, 2014 Posted June 11, 2014 Why? There's no connection, you just jump to conclusion. Well because I heard no new information about the game I was hoping to hear something interesting. I guess I am jumping to a conclusion, but whatever I guess I just have to be patient and wait for more GG news.
Jotamide Posted June 11, 2014 Posted June 11, 2014 I think that the best thing Arcsys can do is keep going with their different series. A boom from one day to another is so difficult and out of their hand. However they are indeed making their games more and more appealing, and that's making the scene to grow little by little. I don't think that any of their games can stay several years as a main at EVO, however I can definitely see their games rotating and Arcsys getting one slot for their games at EVO continuously. Best we can do is support their games and play their games. When someone new start playing one of those games, you can show them the other games. Since they are similar there is a good chance that the new guy will like the other games and start play them too. That way GG will benefit from the attention that P4A and BB got in those years. I have brought new players from P4A to BB and GG, and from BB to GG and P4A, and from GG to BB and P4A. So, if one of our games get a lot of attention we should be happy and should try to expand the other games around that game. Xrd can definitely benefit from the recent past of BB and P4A, and as a plus it looks sick so I'm sure that it will have a LOT of attention, and as result BB and P4A can use that in their favor too to expand themselves. Exactly. The game is looking so good that the FGC (read as: people from Shoryuken, TestYourMight), is eyeing it a lot. Xrd's graphics alone are a sight to behold and I fully trust that ASW will deliver with the gameplay.
D.R.F. Posted June 11, 2014 Posted June 11, 2014 Idk when I saw garbage viper (ground viper) in the first trailer I got pretty hype. Then again I just have always loved how unnecessarily loud that move is
XXXDC Posted June 11, 2014 Posted June 11, 2014  Maybe your just trolling.  He is, why you guys even bother replying is beyond me. That looks like something straight from youtube or a chan board.   [picture] If real, someone should give this man a medal  That pic is soo inspirationalÂ
Fenrir Werwolf Posted June 11, 2014 Posted June 11, 2014 I really hope you guys are just trolling, and I hope mods to clean this mess. Â Anyway, did the guys at E3 found something new, or the Q&A with Daisuke has still to happen?
AllyOfJustice Posted June 11, 2014 Posted June 11, 2014 Daisuke's conversation with the Gamestop guy really made me cringe. He didn't even know who Sol Badguy was and started laughing because of that name. Daisuke must have felt embarassed..
BladeOfJustice7 Posted June 11, 2014 Posted June 11, 2014 @AllyOfJustice, not to fuel the fire of this, but are you comparing BB's IK's to GG's Supers? Wouldn't it make more sense to compared Astral's to Instant Kills? That's some flawed logic, IK'S/Astrals are MADE to be flashy, supers are just made to look cool and are more practical, IK's/Astrals are made to be hella flashy so people will go out of their way to execution them and get empire swag wins. Â Â I really don't think he's trolling, but we're not all the same age here, so we all have different ways of seeing and perceiving the world around us, or a video game franchise we all love. No offense to anyone. Â I hope we get a trailer with new alternate DLC outfits and new characters/modes soon enough. I thought Daisuke would give us a fresh trailer or something like I said before, but wtv. My main is in the game I can't complain lol.
Anne Posted June 11, 2014 Posted June 11, 2014 Hi. Just a reminder, this is to talk about news and gameplay and some general discussion stuff. I let some things slide and keep it relaxed, but you guys have to stay relatively on point and not wander off when somebody shit posts. Warnings handed out, I don't want to have to be super strict guys. I also don't want to have to clear out a ton of posts.
D.R.F. Posted June 11, 2014 Posted June 11, 2014 So yea. We have already talked about how sin is probably going to play right? Apart from eventually returning characters, what characters would you like to see in xrd? I honestly want to see a Senato member in the game. That would be cool
r0b0t Posted June 11, 2014 Posted June 11, 2014 seriously, no balance changes? thats pretty lame... I am good with that, I hear sol is really good, I am excited to play.
D.R.F. Posted June 11, 2014 Posted June 11, 2014 I am good with that, I hear sol is really good, I am excited to play. I wish Fafnir wasnt so damn gamebreaking haha. Im excited to main him though, wish slayer and pot were buffed a bit
SolxBaiken Posted June 11, 2014 Posted June 11, 2014 Fleshed out translation of Famitsu interview by way of Eventhubs
JCraile Posted June 11, 2014 Posted June 11, 2014 So yea. We have already talked about how sin is probably going to play right? Apart from eventually returning characters, what characters would you like to see in xrd? I honestly want to see a Senato member in the game. That would be cool A Senato member as a cameo appearance would be enough, but as a playable character? I don't know. Sin is also a good addition. Â Honestly, as far as returning characters are concerned, I only care about Order Sol.
